  1. Apart from an excellent first name, what does Cerra, with an additional injury-riddled history, provide our list that fills a great need and diversifies our list? I'm sold on the GWS trade though.
  2. Good post mate and confirms my own suspicions about the club pushing Frost out the door.
  3. You needlessly antagonised with the comment about taking a bex and having a lie down. If you throw that sort of thing out there you need to be able to cop it.
  4. Despite ANB turning it over and being a fumbler, he does have the capacity to play a role in a team defence and defence is everything these days. Comparing Frost's value to ANB's is pointless IMO. They're different players and bring different attributes. When ANB is playing well he's doing a lot of hard running that goes unnoticed.
  5. I'd just do the deal. Second round pick seems fair, unless exactly what @Mach5 said went down last year and they wanted a first rounder for him. If that's the case, I'd offer a third rounder and say he's uncontracted and we have the whip hand.
  6. Ordinary decision maker and average kick. Frost 2.0.
  7. Haha, I apologise, clearly 9 employee.
  8. Agree with all this although as I've said earlier in this thread, pretty clear Frost was told to explore his options. So it's not that he is asking too much. We want to try and play some welcome AFL level defence next year.
  9. It seems like a bit of a no brainer to try and trade our future first rounder this year, and see who bites. We must improve in 2020 and we can't wait until 2021. We need to back ourselves to improve next year and if we don't, we'll need to trade players out anyway, which should enable us to trade back into the first round in 2020.
  10. I wonder if Hunt will be moved back to half back?
  11. We got Mitch Hannan in exchange for Dunn, so I'd say the trade is about even.
  12. If, and I know it's a big 'if', but, if we took the punt on Bennell and he got back to his early career form, he is exactly the sort of player we are lacking from our midfield. X factor, speed, ball use and goal kicking. Would immediately improve our side when on the park.
  13. I hope we go after Bennell, but as others have said, I doubt we will.
  14. I think if we can get a few early wins next year we'll get buy in. There were a few whispers of discontent during last season too, but they dissipated as the season progressed and we went deep in September. That to me suggests our culture still has a bit of a way to go. The fact that it can be undone so easily. I really hope players like Gawn have a pull with the players, because when he spoke of getting down to work at the BnF last year, it must have fallen on deaf ears. To paraphrase Keating, let's hope 2019 was the year we had to have and our players learn that they can't take anything for granted, and the show won't keep rolling on without continued hard work.
  15. I agree. We need to improve our goal kicking, but this is so often the realm of confidence and routine. Get it right in the pre season and that can turn. As for your second point, there's no doubt it's not just on the coaches this [censored] season. The players have to take some responsibility.
  16. And those same posters would be smashing him if we were trying to recruit him from Hawthorn (see Tomlinson).
  17. I've said this many times before, but your skills look a lot better when you're basically kicking to an uncontested player in space. Hard running enables this. Let's see how Burgess goes this off season. Ultimately, if our team isn't fit enough to tackle 2020, we're going nowhere regardless of who takes to the field for us.
  18. No. Their players work hard to position, making the kicking easier.
  19. The Age is owned by a joint venture - Fairfax and 9. They merged.
  20. Maybe but Collingwood had some pretty ordinary players filling in down back for them that got them to a Grand Final. If the system is solid, AFL level footballers should be able to play to it.
  21. It's about system. If Buckley can do it, we can too. Down goes a troop, up steps another. Zone defence and assured, predictable play based on hard running and work rate.
  22. Nice [censored] teasing. Hope you go under soon, Fairfax.
  23. Reckon we'll try and model our game style on most good teams. Predictability and slow/measured play from the back. Chaos in the forward 50.
  24. The panic and naivety around Frost leaving is hilarious. Definitely pushed and should be a depth player. Our defensive system will be a lot more solid now. Every defender can trust their team mate will be where he should be. Frostball means chaos in the back half and the only part of the ground where chaos works is the forwardline. Hawthorn's defensive system now has a part that can be exploited by the opposition.
