  1. That was the most Paul Roos win we have had since he's been coach. Probably a good thing. Disciplined down back.
  2. Absolutely horrid. They don't deserve to win this.
  3. JKH responded well to that dropped mark which almost cost us a goal. He's still a depth player, nothing more. Only in the side because Kent isn't. Still, I'm glad he took the game on after an embarrassing brain fart. He [censored] himself at that contest.
  4. Don't write off Brisbane just yet. They're doing well at stoppages and out tackling us. If they can straighten up and be more coherent going forward, they'll turn it on. Must keep applying same level of pressure behind the ball like we have been. Too much space in the middle and they'll easily outrun us and get on a roll.
  5. A loss today would be a massive setback. I think it would lock in the spoon for us. Absolute must-win.
  6. Gee that video is quintessential Melbourne. - Jamar fluffing a mark in defense and giving up a goal. - Frawley turning back with his hands in the air complaining to his teammates after a Brisbane goal - And my favourite: a highlight package of an unstoppable forward who only 12 months last would retire from the game.
  7. I can see howe you would come to that conclusion. Seems as though this club is always in harmes way. I'll let myself out.
  8. My number one pet hate about the site's coverage is when they do the "Past record doesn't matter" article. I've seen it about 5 times this year. Obviously Burgs is asking the question, "What does the playing group make of its recent poor record against this week's opposition?" And the answer is always the same: "We don't talk about it." Most recent: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-07-16/past-record-no-relevance-mcpherson
  9. More to that, the fact pretty much everyone around here thinks we'll lose generally suggests that we'll win. That said, we're going to lose. And bad.
  10. If Brisbane wins, that would suggest they're not tanking. Our percentage is not great and if we lose every remaining game and even snag a win, it would drop and we'd freefall. We're paying $26 for the spoon, $11 for 17th, and $7 for 16th. They are all amazing odds that I'll jump on if we lose this weekend.
  11. I don't think I'd go to another game for the year. I know that we all hate losing but I'm genuinely sick of having my weekend ruined. I think that if we lose this week it'll be the nail in the coffin and we'll finish last. If we win, it could snowball into something better...but we say that after every win. 4 wins after round 15, I'm just kind of over it. If we lose, I'm going to make an effort to cut out Melbourne for a few weeks. I don't care if they win during that period. I'll just go out during the game and leave my phone at home, and just enjoy myself. I've forgotten what it feels like to actually *enjoy* watching my team. And I've forgotten what it feels like to go to a game *knowing* they're a very high certainty of winning. I haven't felt that since 2005, 2006. I don't want to boycott this team but I think that it would be good for me. I'm seriously devastated every time they lose when I go in knowing they can win if they have a genuine crack. Last Saturday actually ruined my weekend. And my girlfriend's the same. It literally puts a strain on our relationship. We look forward to this [censored] every week and we go in excited and plan our day around it, and then we end up fighting lol
  12. I think it would be in his best interests to stay at Melbourne. He's getting the apprenticeship he needs and has the capacity to build and grow his own squad. They'd need to offer him $1 million a year for him to move, which they won't do and would be stupid to. If he were to go to Adelaide it would be the romantic factor. I don't think he'll go. He'd be silly to. That's because Roos has been Melbourne'd. One and a half seasons is all it takes for your opinion and skill level to be put into question.
  13. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
  14. The Guardian's AFL coverage is about all I can stand from that publication. Actually, it's about all I can stand from any mainstream media outlet these days.
  15. The league is the most even it's probably ever been. Melbourne is probably the most predictable in terms of knowing how it's going to perform: it has the anomaly performance one week, but then its next 3-4 games are really straight out of the MFC Handbook. You could have predicted Saturday. I'm cursing I didn't put money down on the Bombers because I tipped them. But yeah, the way we look at the Bombers loss, is the way I'm sure Tigers and Bulldogs fan look at the Melbourne loss, in that, considering their position, it shouldn't have happened. We shouldn't have lost to the Bombers, but we did. History tells us we'll lose on Sunday, yet people are still predicting we'll win. "Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself."
  16. I'd try Dawes in the ruck more often. He clogs up the forward line. Hogan, Howe and Garlett would be enough firepower for any team. I think we keep waiting for Dawes to provide that spark but he just isn't that type of player. He's like a Jamar-Watts-Dunn hybrid lol
  17. Pederson is basically the player Miller would have been if he were still playing. We look much better forward of center with Pederson than we do with Dawes. Hogan pushed up the field to get involved, which is what Pederson normally did. Hogan does it because Dawes is hopeless.
  18. It's actually astonishing that we don't already do this.
  19. How improvement is normalisation. You can improve and still lose games. We need to "turn a corner", as they say. You don't win friends with salad/you don't sign members by losing
  20. Daniher has the most punchable face in the league.
  21. Someone needs to upload Demon Attack to YouTube. I'd love to see it now.
  22. Really, all areas of the field have good quality. Our midfield has improved from N Jones, M Jones, Viney, Terlich and Nicholson in 2012, to Jones, Vince, Cross, Viney, Brayshaw, VB, Gawn, Tyson. Backline is steady but erratic. Forward of Garlett, Hogan, Howe, Dawes, it's a perfect combination of heigh, pace and marking capacity that we don't take advantage of. This "team" has a great collection of individuals. But as a collective, it is not a good team.
