Sunday's crowd vs GWS
We also cracked 40k average home attendance for the first time since 1964. Total crowd across H&A was down though. Also if you take away the NT games, our average Melbourne home game attendance was 48k.

Sunday's crowd vs GWS
Not sure if someone else mentioned this but the crowd of 37k was the largest crowd against a non-Vic club (ex Sydney) since 2010 when there was 36k against Brisbane, and 2004 when 33k showed up against WC. Given the opposition support (or lack thereof), I would estimate about 36k Melbourne supporters came to the game. For reference, 30k showed up to the Pies v GWS game at the MCG earlier in the season. Amazing turnout. Does anyone know what the MCC was predicting before the game?

Camp wars
Tex Walker is a huff and puff SANFL player at best. How he's captain of an AFL club baffles me.

Key tactical issues v Geelong
frost will get Hawkins this time I'd imagine.

Finals Tickets
So just to confirm: As an AFL Member with club support, I am buying tickets on the WEDNESDAY, not the Tuesday in "contending clubs" allocation?

Stats-file 2018
hmm not necessarily. it has nothing to do with wins and losses. it's the percentage of the total of points for and points against. we have a higher percentage than teams above us. but in the content of us vs Richmond's percentage, given we are 4 games behind them and close on %, we would likely have a higher percentage than them if we'd won 2-3 more games because we'd have more for and fewer against.

Stats-file 2018
Points are a percentage of the total across every game. Winning margin is only calculated across winning games. So if you play two matches: Game 1: 100 - 50 Game 2: 80 - 100 Your average winning margin is 50. PF: 180 PA: 150 %: (180/150) x 100 = 120% Scenario for Richmond: Game 1: 100 - 80 Game 2: 100 - 60 Average winning margin: 30 PF: 200 PA: 140 %: 142.9% Hope that makes sense. Simply put if your winning margin and losing margin differential is high enough and you win enough games, the occasional 40-point loss won't impact your %. As we see with our percentage.

My 3 word player analysis V GWS
Fritsch was very good and is essentially Salem 2.0. Extremely reliable, accountable, and classy.

What is the reason for the jumpers worn today?
imo it's the essendon jumper than looks too much like ours.

question: As an AFL Member with club support, does that mean I am part of the "competing club" category on the tuesday, or afl members?

GAMEDAY - Round 23
that quarter was okay i guess

GAMEDAY - Round 23
Melksham okay? GWS is bruise free and want the easy transition. Give it to them. Once the ball gets to a contest they are average.

TWO KICKS OF NOTE
lol you're basing a bad habit on experience...these are tough to break and the kid is built and thinks like a line breaker, not someone who moves back on the mark to fulfil your need for a crispy clean pass. Again, you're just being trivial here.

The Road to the Cup
Geelong with the fixturing equivalent of a reach-around leading into finals. Will go into the EF without having been challenged for 4 weeks. We will absolutely smash them.

What they're saying over at Roberts Road
Every team has feral supporters. I'd classify the type of feral like this: Refined feral (likely to have a wine and some cheese pre-game, and criticise someone's earning capacity) Melbourne Adelaide Fitzroy/Brisbane Self-important feral (thinks they're better placed in society than they actually are) North Melbourne Port Working class, and weirdly humble feral (will abuse you but then apologise and say, "Nah you're alright you're my second favourite team") Bulldogs Living in stolen cars feral (can be found at your local Magistrates Court) St Kilda CFMEU-brand and high vis-wearing feral (will abuse you simply for existing) Collingwood Calls-in-sick-every-Monday feral (drinks. a lot.) Richmond Loves smell of own farts feral (came from money and lives in a nice suburb but lives paycheck to paycheck) Hawthorn Essendon Doesn't-realise-they're-feral feral (thinks drinking an espresso at Brunetti makes them better than you) Carlton Isolated feral (confused when they visit Melbourne and shops are still open past 4pm) West Coast Freo Academic feral (unnecessarily wears reading glasses) Sydney Racist, smells like cow dung, entire wardrobe from K-Mart feral Geelong

Round 23 Non MFC Games
Incorrect. Geelong is likely to win, therefore if Port were to win by 150 and we were to lose by 150, they'd have come in for us. It went right down to the wire.

Simon Goodwin Contract Extension [Aug 2018]
Is he the right guy though?

Round 23 Non MFC Games
He was also one of the lowest ranked players on the field. His career is running on fumes now unfortunately. This will be his last contract.

Changes v GWS Giants
I also like JKH and see a lot of Jetta in him. Much like Oscar 24 months ago (and even Petracca by some here), the criticism is rife, but I can sense mature heads who with time, experience and patience will come good. All it takes is a bit of confidence. Jetta was cooked at the end of 2013.

Changes v GWS Giants
A lot may disagree but I really like the patience afforded to Spargo. He is a smart player that works hard and does the non negotiables. Doesn't shy away from the contest and doesn't appear intimidated by pressure and big crowds like Garlett does.
