Jeff 'Wiz' Farmer
IMO it wasn't even that good a moment, hardly representative of what made the wiz the wiz. It was a free kick in front of goal...hardly "Wiz" material. I get that it was against his former side which gave it preference, but still. He had a number of really great games at Freo, pity that was the one they those to use.

Very much this. I hope we are never factored into these "*club* is throwing millions at *player*" news reports. Essendon is throwing a million at Dusty because they're desperate. I don't believe for a second that they're finals-worthy or have the depth that their fans seem to think they have. They're going to start feeling the pinch of last year for a number of years yet. They need to recruit and draft very aggressively. Their current list can't cut it. North seems to be putting all of its eggs in one basket. It knows it can't afford to crash and draft slowly so it's going for the big guns. Richmond will be regretting having thrown so much at Prestia and Caddy. They will lose Dusty. No chance he stays if they can't get to at least within 80% of the best offer.

Our record at the MCG
IMO it's actually a struggle to utilise the space. Not sure that playing in NT this week helps. We need consecutive games there and haven't since the Freo-Richmond double. More than ever, we needed this upcoming week's game to be at the MCG. We have two consecutive strings there, one two weeks in a row, and three to end the year.

Our record at the MCG
We're still battling with the concept of two-way running. Works better on smaller grounds because there's less space to cover. Watching yesterday's game, North seemed to always have 2-3 more players in their forward line because their mids and flankers just appeared to be everywhere. Despite playing all of their games better at Etihad, they ran harder and utilised space superbly compared to Melbourne, who plays half of their games on the MCG. IMO it's as much a reflection of experience (or lack thereof) is you'll find. Sometimes the players just seem run out on their feet. Maybe it's for the best in the long run. Or maybe we're still behind the 8-ball when it comes to training practices. I'll tell you something, leaving the MCG and having North supporters laugh us out of our home ground, jeering "10 YEARS!" is something that almost pushed me over the edge.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Except for Essendon and Richmond

The healthy mental health thread
Good to see you have support around you. Thanks for starting this topic. Male depression is a severely under-supported and researched problem and there is still a stigma attached to men "seeking help" and talking about their mental health and emotions. It doesn't I haven't personally suffered but have had relatives that have.

The Importance of Jordan Lewis
No doubt at all we start the season 5-0 with both Lewis and Hogan playing, even with Gawn out. They both play such important roles and they were important cogs removed suddenly from a team that was playing good team footy.

Clarence Oliver
He should be shown the door with Goodwin tbh.

Needs a couple of weeks at Casey.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
His pace worries me. He's very bottom heavy. But he's been very consistent with 1-2 showboat performances a match. High football IQ and great delivery going forward, too.

Clarence Oliver
ANB and Stretch have been similar. "Quiet", but incredibly useful.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
This can't be real. He doesn't mention that St Kilda beat us 14 times in a row.

Norm Smith to Simon Goodwin
The game has changed a lot and players and coaches get caught up in hip new theories and standards and whatnot. But one thing lasts the ages and will never become obsolete: it doesn't matter how good you are, if you don't strive to be the best you'll only ever be last. So many good players only ever go through the motions. Michae Jordan said that the guys he'd ride most in practice were the superstars because they were so complacent, that he would push them harder because it was so hard to get them to go that extra mile. He hated playing against the reserves because they were always fighting and scrapping. Read up on his brawl with Steve Kerr. Kerr was this white little stick who kept taking it to him in practice. It took taking it up to the best and not lying down to be respected by the best. 6 months later Jordan passed up a winning shot and gave it to Kerr for the gamer winner and championship. NBA fans will know this story well.

Delistings
Spencer has been re-signed until 2017 and I suspect that unless we bring in an experienced and proven ruckman of the Mumford ilk, Spencer will continue to sign one-year extensions. He's not going anywhere. It would be suicide to dump ruck stocks when your back-up ruckman on game day is Jack Watts.

Nat Fyfe
Freo is an average club with a superiority complex. Unlike the Eagles, they think they are relevant because they get decent crowds and play in Perth (a city that also tries to compensate for its inadequacy). They will go nowhere next year. That said, he won't leave.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
"Embarrassing" records. I don't think not beating a team on a Sunday for a decade classifies as embarrassing

The youngest most inexperienced side
That is not what I meant. From an on-field perspective in 2010, we eventually struggled because you had young kids shouldering the load. We have added Vince and H to the fold for experience but in much the same way, we have very unexperienced players in areas that win and lose matches. I also said we have a stronger young brigade this time, but I guess you skipped over that part. In 2010 we had many young kids that showed promise, and the media was showering us with praise. It broke down. I am fearful of another breakdown, and I think we need another player of Vince's caliber into the club.
