  1. Wow. A certificate in coaching! I bet Wayne Brittain is the lecturer.
  2. Worse than 1997 and 1999, about onpar with 2003, but not anywhere near as bad as 2008, 2009, second half of 2012, 2013 or 2014.
  3. You're probably right but you speak like as if a player's management speaking with a club midseason about said player's role within the team is common. Which it probably is for players uncertain about their future. Murmurs of Trac requesting a trade may well be BS but I think it's reasonable to assume that: 1. there was an element of unhappiness there, and; 2. that a trade was suggested, likely by Trac's crew, as a means to an end. It being a reasonable outcome from the meeting doesn't mean unequivocally that it happened, or feed into rumours that he requested a trade. But let's not pretend like as if there wasn't some angst there.
  4. We should look at potential trades the way teams in the NBA do: you rarely if ever trade with teams you're directly competing against for a championship, especially if they're in their conference or division. Never, ever trade with a Hawthorn, Geelong, West Coast, Collingwood unless you're absolutely, unequivocally getting like for like or top tier talent in return. Trading Trac to the Hawks for pick 11 and Bruest or Gunston is one of the dumbest trades this club could make at this time. The Hawks are slowly but surely building a squad through trades and free agency, and gifting them Trac would effectively help them rise back up. We need to be brutal like this. If we are trading any of our core out we have to start demanding currency in return. Pick 11 just doesn't get it done. There is a reason why Pies and Hawks supporters are licking their lips at the prospect of getting Petracca.
  5. They went from a superbly average team in 2016 and 2017 to a true team that plays for each othet in 2018 and 2019. Utterly ravaged by injury both seasons but those that have come in have stepped up and played a role. Difference at Melbourne is that once fringe players like JKH and Stretch get a gig they are playing for their careers rather than the team. You could sense towards the end of 2017 that something special was afoot at the Pies. And it wasn't just their bullying of us in round 23. But it was part of it. If any game is a metaphor for where both club's stand today, it is round 23 2017. They had nothing but pride to play for. We had a finals berth being handed to us on a silver platter. They beat us fair and square. 12 months later and they are a flag contender and 24 months later they are still in the thick of it.
  6. that's not how compensation works.
  7. Would he be offered another season if we had been playing finals and/or been half decent over the past 12 years? Probably not. Let's be honest, this is legacy pay for sticking through grim times. Love the bloke, but he's depth at most from here out. If he's top 22, then we have problems.
  8. You're taking what I said, fixating on particular components and coming to the worst possible conclusion. I don't have it as fact but have it on good authority. You sound like a gestapo lapdog. Do you work at the MFC? This is a forum of discussion, opinion, conjecture, debate, some rumours. I've not often been one to endulge in rumours but I'm hearing what I'm hearing. You seem so offended by certain comments and rumours that one can't help but think you work at the club. I pay $2000+ per year into the club's coffers. I am more than within my right to voice these concerns, even if they do come on the back of rumours. We finished 17th, binman. Open your eyes.
  9. Martin was set to be out of contract and being offered millions to leave. Petracca is in contract and has his management giving the coaching team an ultimatum. Completely different.
  10. as i feared. it used to be great because it was treated semi-seriously. now it's all a joke, scripted for the sake of it. and they've ruined it.
  11. Am I mistaken or is this year's game like AFLX?
  12. Either Barrett reads Demonland or we have heard the same things. And binman, a financial loss would be disastrous and an indictment on the viability of the club's current plans. Not all debt is bad but in our case adding to it raises serious questions if after a record breaking attendance year last year and membership this year we are still losing money. I'm really not keen on this ending badly binman. But all signs point to things going badly here and I keep saying it's the most important off-season of Goodwin's and many others' careers. We are on knife's edge atm. This I am 99% sure of. Why would I hype it up as being an important off season if not because I want to see them right the ship? Situations like this separate the professionals from the amateurs. Geelong 06. Collingwood 2017. Richmond 2016. All teams bounced back. It takes us years to turn things around and one pre season sees us finish 17th. I don't either but it's what I'm hearing. Not necessarily that he wants a trade but that there is more to the meeting. It is never a good sign if a player's manager is meeting with the club. You don't think it was an ultimatum? It 100% was. Goodwin's and co's response at that moment alone would have determined Trac's intentions.
  13. Would our financial situation be as dire if not for the playing performance?
  14. I believe Petracca's concerns has been what has prompted some heated exchanges between coaching team and the board. Essentially he is unhappy, and the board is pointing the finger at the coaching team. This all falls down to a disastrous pre-season. Goodwin and Co. have been the catalyst for this.
  15. Up to three starting 22 players are set to demand trades. Club set to announce financial loss, debit to increase. Murmurs of a heated exchange between a powerful club exec and Goodwin following last week's match. Make no mistake, the Doom Loop is now full circle. Prepare yourselves. Once the finals end, it's all going to break open. Most important off-season in the club's history imo.
  16. Pert actually specifically mentioned the club identified a lack of space and skill on the wing and this is why they drafted KK. Now with Langdon as well it's clear it's on the club's conscious. It's also clear that Stretch, JKH are probably done at AFL level.
  17. SANFL player. No thanks.
  18. you mean like when Lyon, Stynes hired Neeld and Craig?
  19. You can't beat him, join him.
  20. Nah. Buns are a prerequisite for entry into Revolver.
