  1. Chris Connelly was on SEN (forgive me if it were another station as I was listening from the back seat of a car) tonight discussing the whole Sylvia incident. Melbourne wll not contest the descision however said the umpires have now set the precedence for the rest of the year. Meaning if one of our players hit a player in a 'contest' and broke their jaw, then they should also get off on charges, suspensions etc. Was also mentioned that no Melbourne player went in to help Col, which I personally find weak and disgraceful. No matter whether it was a legal bump or not, a bump which leaves your teamate floored should be enough for you to get stuck in. By this i dont mean punches and bodyslams, but at least show some passion and back eachother up. And no it's not in-experience and young age, as the players that should be in there pushing and shoving are seniors such as our captain, jones, moloney etc. The final point CC made was in regards to Newton. He said that there were many ahead of him in the pecking order regardless of injuries, and that he must take this chance to become the footballer he wants to become. Said he would be given a chance at Casey, and must prove to them that he can handle the big time. Also said that Gawn and Tapscott are both on the long term injury list, therefor at one point during the next few weeks we're likely to see a rookie or two elevated from that list and into the seniors. Thats all the info i can remember from the interview at this stage, sorry folks. My dad was in my ear about how weak Melb were for not disputing the col bump. So was hard to balance the both
  2. We got absolutely smashed in the stoppages. One thing that annoyed me was that the stats in terms of Hitouts werent as obscure as I orginally thought. melb has something like 25 hit outs to Freo's 28. However our positioning from stoppages was awful. Thoughts?
  3. This isn't a life or death post... But next week I'll be ordering my new Melbourne home jumper. There is no doubt to who's number I want on the back... (16) But was just interested in seeing what other numbers people have purchased??? Has anyone put a 9 or a 24 or a 31 on their back??
  4. FYI Watts Up posted the actual interview for people to listen to.
  5. Oh my god... have any of you actually listened to the interview? Lloyd even states at the end of his 'Melbourne-Scully-Trengove' comment that it is a bit of a different take and assessment compared to the rest of his teams and players he chose. This is because he doesn't believe Melbourne to be challenging for the top 8, but to be getting games into the likes of the young kids (Scully and Trengove). He also says that it might seem a bit rough on the other older more experienced MFC players to chose two young untried kids, however he implied that if MFC are going to win games and be successful in the future, the development and importance of these two kids this year is important above all else. So in that respect, I have to agree with him. I could add a whole bunch of other players to that list such as Grimes (and make no mistake, he will wear the captains arm band for MFC one day and be extremely influential this year to our development as a young side) but in all truth its extremely important that ALL our players develop into a winning fearless side. Lloyd is simply picking out two kids he thinks will drive the MFC towards a premiership in the next few years...
  6. Would anyone here know how to get down there from say South Yarra station via public transport?
  7. Thanls guys, can't tell you all how great it is to come home after work and read these reports regarding Melbourne training and players. It's fantastic and please keep the good work up. On that note, sounds like somepositive talk from the Watts perspective which is nice to hear. From anyone that has been down to training, is there any indication of what position Grimesy will blood, or does he just do an overview of different things at training?
  8. Is anyone else struggling to put a team together? The prices this year are a little steep. Which Melbourne players have you entered? Mine are as follows; Starting - Jack Grimes, Jack Trengove, Colin Sylvia Bench - Max Gawn, Jack Watts (both these guys were just fillers, I really struggled with the prices of players this year)
  9. Hahahah well quite clearly you know the full extent of the story... However that doesn't explain why the Mods changed the title of this thread... Clearly mis-information, and not what I had originally posted as the headline. Merry Christmas demonland!
  10. I have heard from a source that Jack Watts has an infection. I won't go into details however this infection is not serious, but is taking a while to heal. Therefor not training with main group. Should be ready to resume by their first training session early next year.
  11. I don't suspect that we'll make finals next year. Although I do expect the boys to really push for it and try to sneak into the top 8. The ability and talent is there, and based off this years performance where we could have or should have won 8 or so games (Richmond, North Melbourne, West Coast, Sydney and maybe even Bulldogs), we should be in a better position next season. My question is, if we were as arrogant as Carlton (They Know We're Coming), what would our 2010 or 2011 slogan be???
  12. Could anyone tell me the dates of the above? Now the seasons over we can look forward to Draft day etc.
  13. I actually don't think we're entitled to number 1 pick in the rookie draft anyhow... i think Gold Coast has that. Or am I mistaken?
  14. Mate, not being a 2-3 year poster only means I've not had an interest in blogging prior to that. Nothing else. Next time I'll send you a personal message and ask if it's ok to post a comment. As far as I can see, comments like 'Bruce is not playing well' 'Watts isn't tough enough' 'Watts isn't as good as NN' 'Dean Bailey should be sacked' 'S Martin should be de-listed' are comments that make me think those specific posters are those that watch the television coverage with their eyes closed. I don't doubt the loyalty of any of our supporters, I just find it hard to believe that some of these actually head to a match when they're constantly unjustifiable harassing certain players. And by that I don't mean ALL like you suggest. I said SOME. Those are their opinions, and that was mine. Or is that not what a forum is for?
  15. Agree 100% mate. I want Scully as much as anyone, but I am so sick of having to listen to the d***h**ds at work (Fremantle and Carlton supporters) talking to me like they know my football club and what's best for us. I'm sad to say it but not even the supporters of the Melbourne FC knows what's best for this team. The only ones that could see are the ones within the club. Hence why we're in here gossiping about what will happen and what should happen, and they are in there actually making things happen. As for Bruce, he's an absolute champ, and YZE Magic should only look as far as his user name to understand that. Yze was a champ for our club, but certainly had many inconsistent years. For mine and anyone else that actually rocks up to the games (which I would suggest is very few of you), Bruce has been more than consistent over his career, deservedly won our best and fairest last year, has been brilliant in most games this year, but showed some real flashes of brilliance and guts against Port last week. Give him a break and celebrate the fact that we have such a champ and all round good guy at our club who will run out for the 200th time against the best team in the comp.
  16. The impression I had from listening to Bailey last night was that he was very guarded in answering the 'tank' or 'not to tank' question. He was typically answering the questions in a manner you would expect from a coach, without blatantly saying yes or no. From listening to his opinions regarding Jetta eventually moving into the middle etc. (which no one could have foreseen) I think there's a lot going on in his mind regarding winning v tanking. And we will find out very soon. If he believes we can challenge for a Premiership in the next few years with primarily the same team we have now bar a few adjustments here and there, then he will coach to win. If not, then he will obviously use 'list management' techniques such as WC resting KERR and COX for 'mystery illnesses' to benefit the team in the long run re high priority draft picks.
  17. Cats (Skilled) Loss Swans (Manuka) Loss Richmond (MCG) Maybe win Kangaroos (Ethiad) Loss Fremantle (MCG) Win Carlton (Ethiad) Loss St Kilda (MCG) Loss Lets get realistic people. 4 wins is likely, five wins possible, anymore unlikely.
  18. Ridiculous post. Demonland is for demon issues, and there are no bigger issues than the issue of tanking (priority picks) vs winning matches. If we can't discuss it on here with other demon supporters, then whats the point?
  19. Hahaha I thought you were serious for a second. Had to re-read it a couple times. Bless the internet and miss-interpretations. Yes. 'List Management' sounds good. While we're at it I'd like to think about preserving Jurrah and Grimes for next season and replace them in the side with Newton and Bartram. I think Davey would also be a nice like and like swap with Valenti.
  20. I'm not really sure what all the fuss was about to begin with. Even his first game this year for us has been quite good. Mind you, he's gotten better and better, but I never felt he was past it or not a required player. He's a solid backman who will be required if we're wanting a premiership in 4-5 yrs time.
  21. Isn't it just beautiful to see though...? I watched the team song about 5 times this weeks already, just watching Moloney go nuts and almost have a seizure singing that song gave me goose bumps. Was beautiful to watch. I was very surprised to also see Russian belt it out with lots and lots of pride.
  22. West Coast will win another game for sure. But freo could also possibly win the game v Eagles. Saying this even if freo steal pick #2 off of us, they will more than likely be going for a WA boy. Opening the door for us to grab Scully at pick #1 and Trenegrove at pick #3.
