  1. Are you nuts? Bruce was our best player after Davey... and the fact that he didn't give up in that final quarter was the reason we put a bit of respectability on the board. Your spot on with the other three though, but I would add Dunn to that group. Hopeless!
  2. Sylvia, McClean, Dunn and Johnson need a run in the VFL 'RESERVES'. They are certainly not good enough to play at VFL level at the moment... the same can be said with Ricky Petterd, however i firmly believe it's more of a positional aspect with Ricky. Aaron Davey clearly the best player for the demons in all three opening games... I'm still bemused as to why he isn't taking the kick ins. He hits his man from 55m right on the chest. And Brad Green STILL isn't playing a full forward position. One of the most accurate kicks in the afl, wouldn't you want the ball in his hands more often?
  3. I loved Robert Walls comment when asked about the fab four. He was asked do you rate the Carlton fab four up there with the Brisbane midfield of old, or the Geelong midfield. And without hesitation he said no! He went on to explain that this Carlton midfield have done nothing. Nick Stevens has never been a great player in big games that count, so until they actually achieve something, they're not fabulous.
  4. As irritating as it can be, or as much as everyone complains, I for one don't mind them. For me the way our form has been, it has enabled me to enjoy many of the other matches on the weekend, including watching scummy teams such as Carlton and Collingwood (notice how I placed Carlton first). This is only possible by playing on the Sunday. When Melbourne lose a game, it usually puts me in a foul mood for a couple days, hence missing other matches and news relating to football. Id prefer watching Melbourne play on a friday night, but in all honesty at the moment I don't mind as it would put me off watching other matches that weekend. What do others think of Sunday games?
  5. What a joke... we just can't catch a break with the injuries... i could see the silver lining with most of our players bar three seniors all back playing in either seniors or vfl within the next three weeks or so, but seems to be a big name player going down every week. Is this something to do with the fitness coach, or just plain luck, or lack there of?
  6. Errr Aaron Davey! Where did you get J White from? Hahaha
  7. Wow really? Who runs like the flash in our team? Theres only one player...
  8. I'm fairly happy with it. Just let them get a bit of experience and game time in. Still a very young side. The one thing that drives me insane though, is why Green isn't playing in the forward line?
  9. We mention Grimes as a future leader because that's the kind of persona he has. At such a young age and in only a few practice matches and some vfl matches last year he has shown maturity and guts and ability. You can tell when a player plays with a certain type of leadership quality. That doesn't mean to say the best player must be captain, just a person that would bleed for the club. He's yet to prove himself on the big stage but the small parts ive seen of him, he could well see himself in the leadership group if injuries and good form persists. Theres no reason why, as a bunch of supporters following a struggling team, can't look forward to the future.
  10. I agree about all this stuff regarding his schooling. And the more i read everyones post the more I'm resigned to thinking it's best to just hold him back until the end of the year. Get a few games in him at VFL/AFL level before the seasons end, have a full pre-season and come in strong for 2010. I completely disagree with the body shape aspect though, as a few of you have mentioned Cale Morton, whom obviously has a tine frame as well.
  11. Along way to go before the development of Grimes and Watts come into place, so there could be a spot for them as captain as the grow older and wiser. Until then who do you think could possibly take the rains? There are the obvious and not so obvious choices of Rivers, Brock, Green, Bruce, Moloney, Miller... the fact remains we have a captain who's going strong, but may or may not be around in 2-4 years time... Opinions? It's a tough one as I don't think many players have put up their hands and proven they are captain material. I love Brent's passion, and Millers slowly coming into his own. But both need to be consistent. Green was my favorite for captain at the end of last year, but possibly might not show leadership qualities off the field...
  12. Yeh agreed, he certainly has potential, but he's missing something. Be it delivery, motivation or just a general football brain, I'm not sure, but if he can find two of the three, he'd make a great forward. Long way to go though. I answered 0.
  13. I've heard some great things about Watts, but im really not sure why they are being so cautious with him. I realise we're still in development stage, and we just have to be patient (no matter how hard it is to watch our team ridiculed and looked down on by other teams, supporters, journo's) but I really don't understand their need to slow him down. I can't remember the last time a number 1 draft pick was kept back like this...
