Farewell Dom Tyson
Found the comment on Tyson in The Age interesting: Melbourne Picks: 34, 45, 53, 89 Trade Outlook: Another busy time for the Demons who hope to recruit May with picks gained from trading out Hogan. They will land Suns' wingman Kolodjashnij and lose Dean Kent to St Kilda. Aaron vandenBerg is likely to get to Sydney with the trade request based on compassionate grounds after his father died this year. Dom Tyson is exploring his options but clubs are unlikely to commit until other decisions are made while North Melbourne's Braydon Preuss is expected to join the Demons. So it sounds like we may not hear much about where/if Tyson is going until we find out what's happening with the likes of Shiel & Setterfield. Sounds as though Dom will be someones 2nd choice. Also sounds like Vandenberg's gone....

Farewell Jesse Hogan
The only thing I can think of is that he wants out of a footy state? Allow him to have a bit more of a normal life style/out of media street and he sees Brisbane as the team with the best future (of the 4 northern teams). Otherwise it doesn't make sense to me?

Ring up Trade Radio and blame Sam Maclure!

Jay Lockhart
Thought Jay should get his own thread. 177cm, 75kg, and will be 23 years old for the start of the 2019 season. Runner up in Casey's B&F and very highly rated by Rawlings. Jay has good speed and uses the ball well. Despite his size, he's shown an ability to win his own ball, playing in multiple roles. Started the year at half back, but then moved to a wing and on ball. Spent short stints forward also, kicking 10 goals for the year. Hoping we can get the rights to Jay through trading with Gold Coast in relation to the May/KK deal. He fits our needs and would be especially good to get a mature body in given the likely departures of Tyson & Vandenberg.

Farewell Dom Tyson
I have no issues trading out Tyson, and think it would likely suit all parties. Carlton, Essendon & Hawthorn would all be potential suitors IMO. More concerned about Vandenberg potentially leaving. In fact if Vandenberg were to leave along with Tyson, I hope the club considers taking a punt on Nathan Freeman as a DFA so we have a mature bodied mid ready to go with some potential upside.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Two things. 1. May isn't Cam McCarthy, he wont sit out a year. 2. The AFL will ensure the club they put millions into will get priority 1 compensation for May if he leaves, whether he were to miss most of the year or not.

And then some as it will cost more than that.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Because as mentioned elsewhere, why would Gold Coast trade him now for that potential price, when they could hold onto him for 12 months, let him walk as a free abent and end up with another top 4 pick. It's a nice thought, but no chance Gold Coast would go for it. Plenty of players meet with other clubs and then stay where they are. Dustin Martin, Ling Jong. And Melbourne are confident Aaron Vandenberg will do the same.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I get where you're going. If one of the two 1st Rounders we get from Freo in a 2019 pick, then we'll have 2 picks that year to potentially trade for Kelly.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
That's more then fair, and why you would need to look at the trade as a whole. If the trade ends up reading; IN: May, KK, Lockhart OUT: Garlett, Pick 6, Future 3rd Rounder (potentially pick 50'ish) It looks a pretty fair exchange to me as a whole.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Chris Yarran, Gary Rohan, Reece Conca, Caleb Marchbank, Sam Petrevski-Seton. One of those superstars? We're in Premiership window territory now. I'm more concerned about what improves us immediately as opposed to in 5 years. Don't forget, in order to get May this year, it needs to be a trade that entices Gold Coast to trade him now as opposed to holding onto him for 12 months. Pick 10 wont be enough for May.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Still think we'll end up with Pick 6 & a future first rounder. Pick 6 along with Garlett & future 3rd round pick gets us May, KK and rights to a VFL player (Lockhart). Gives us 2 first rounders the following year to either offer up for trade for Kelly or take to the draft.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Which is why we'll trade the earliest of the two picks we get from Freo. Otherwise there's no benefit in it for them trading May this year. I reckon it'll be Pick 5, future 3rd Rounder & Garlett for May, KK and VFL player (Lockhart).

Pick 5 or 6, Garlett & future 3rd Round Pick for May, KK & rights to a VFL player (Lockhart please).

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
While in theory I like your line of thinking, with the abolishment of the D-League, you can't have too many specialist rucks on your list, as you'll run out of places to play them. I think Gawn in the seniors, Preuss at Casey with Bradtke playing off the bench/resting forward and helping out in the ruck is about it as far as our specialist rucks will go. Otherwise expect additional ruck support to come from Weideman, Tom McDonald & Keilty.

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
Would keep for mine, but certainly not a lock 22. Lets have someone like Wagner force him out of the team. Do agree with others that Viney should be sole captain next year.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
I would expect we'll see something along the lines of; May & late pick (4th Round maybe) to Collingwood Moore & 2nd or 3rd Round Pick to Sydney Lloyd & Newman to Gold Coast Gold Coast should take the King twins in the draft at Picks 2 & 3 as Lynch & Mays replacements. Then stock up on more mature age talent (Miles & Horlin-Smith have been mentioned). Plus they should also seriously consider Brendan Goddard & making a play for Jarryd Roughead (Hawthorn).

Farewell Jesse Hogan
You may be onto something Danelska. I think most of us expected Oscar to have signed by now, but so far nothing. Might be nothing in it, but who knows? Collingwood & Sydney are after key defenders. I hope there's nothing in it and Oscar stays, but at least on the defensive end we have Petty & Keilty coming through.

Garlett & 43 for Preuss & 63 sounds reasonable to me. Have to be prepared to pay a little overs for someone who has 2 years to run on a contract.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If Hogan requests a trade then we should trade him. However if no such request is made then he falls into our group of untouchables. Next year I expect Weideman to alternate between FF/CHF/2nd Ruck, Tommy Mc between the same positions + wing and Hogan between FF/CHF/Mid. Both Hogan & Tommy Mc could be used across CHB at times also. This will leave Frost & Lever as our key backs and Oscar will be the one who likely has to bide his time. We'll have options galore!

Jayden Hunt
Won't be going anywhere unless he asks to be traded. Was at a pre-game function before the Round 20 Gold Coast match where Josh Mahoney mentioned how highly rated he was internally, and that they were looking to get him back into their 22. He just had a bad season is all. Started poorly and was dropped after the Richmond game. Started to build form in the VFL and was one of Casey's best in their Queens Birthday game, but injured himself at the final contest, putting himself out for 6 weeks. Finally got back for the Sydney game, only to then get injured again. The guy just needs a good pre-season. I rank him somewhere from 11-25 in our squad, so you want to keep him, at the very least to help drive competition for spots.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
In theory I liks it, but I just don't see why he would want to come to us. I was expecting our target to be someone along the lines of Darcy Cameron, Billy Longer, Zac Smith etc. Someone who would know they're there as the number 2 guy for when Gawn's unavailable. Not someone who wants the number 1 gig now.
