  1. Christian must be laughing his [censored] off at how this has transpired. He has been completely vindicated and Laura Kane made to look a fool. Great optics.
  2. Jeez, he never had a chance of getting off regardless of whether his case was heard first or second. If he gets off for that, I'm officially calling for the madness to stop.
  3. Yep, will be having frank discussions with my kids as well.
  4. Yeah that was the biggest dog act. I will never forgive or forget that one either. If I ever see Michael Long in the street I will remind him that he is and always will be a gutless sniper.
  5. I know they are different, I was just pointing out that Viney has jumped off the ground in a very dangerous manner in the past. The earlier poster suggested Viney would never do such a thing. Anyway, I await the tribunal decision and hope the Thug gets 3 or more weeks. My ongoing support of the AFL may well hinge on this outcome.
  6. Have we all forgotten this? Long time ago, granted. I'm not condoning these sorts of actions and I will be happy to see if the AFL has evolved to stamp thus sort of stuff out of the game.
  7. He's going to get off for this, I'm sure of it. And that will be curtains for my interest in AFL. I have two kids aged 15 and 13 both who play and I will be thinking long and hard if I will allow them to keep playing the sport as well.
  8. The boys club mentality of former players and media agitators is infuriating. Even David King, the so called cheerleader for protecting the head, has failed to condemn the Maynard act, stating I won't be surprised if the ban is upheld. Glad I wasn't there on the night, would have been a test trying to keep it together amongst the insensitive arrogant Pies supporters.
  9. And he wouldn't embarrass himself trying to bounce the ball ever again.
  10. I must say, all this is going to be cold comfort if we [censored] the bed against Carlton next week.
  11. The game has moved on some way since 2021 Ralphy. Throw the book at him I say.
  12. Its been mentioned on the other thread (Stuff the draft, lets poach a KPF) that our midfield depth is now pretty much non-existent with Dunstan gone, and JJ and Harmes likely to look elsewhere for opportunities. The only mid not playing last night besides those guys was Woey who's a winger. IMO, this upcoming draft/trade period should be all about refreshing our midfield depth and succession planning to extend our premiership window. If we draft more role players and flanker types this year we're basically throwing all our chips in for a flag tilt in 2024 and then I imagine it will be a sharp decline for our team as Viney, Trac, Gus and Oliver approach their 30s. Draft the best available mids with our two first rounders and pray to all the deities that Kalani White and Kynan Brown turn out to be good players.
  13. Damn, how good would it be to have a Cam Pedersen type on our list right now to call up. Inconsistent but a go-er.
  14. It's a genuine concern. If we don't draft two very good mids in the first round this year I think we'll be shooting ourselves in the foot in the medium to long term. We have more than enough flankers and project players. We also need a readymade KPF to replace the outgoing TMac and BBB. Maybe Georgiades in a Grundy trade, maybe Ratagulea for a late draft pick. Hopefully Petty heals up ok and is right for next season. I can also foresee a huge challenge holding onto JVR. The Eagles will be offering stupid money to lure him home now that they've freed up a massive chunk of their salary cap. Regardless of this, I firmly believe that the priority with this draft should be midfield succession planning.
  15. One thing is for sure, the AFL app will still suck. What a piece of absolute CARP
  16. I wasn't there last night (I live in WA), but your comment sparked a memory from the 2018 Prelim final vs the Eagles. I noticed this exact thing during the warm up to that game, fumbly, nervous players looked beaten before the national anthem had even been sung.
  17. The front on camera replay does show very clearly that Maynard had the option to move his body in a way that could have avoided contact to the head. Instead he chose to drive his shoulder full force toward Brayshaw. Malice or no malice, doesn't matter. The outcome dictates a punishment. The guy has a bad disciplinary record. How can he possibly get off? Can you imagine if this had been Kozzie that did this to a Pies player. He'd be hounded out of the sport.
  18. Picket works hard but really doesn't have a good idea on how to position himself when the long ball is kicked inside 50 to a contest. Nearly always in the wrong spot. Needs to be coached by a proper small forward like Steve Johnson.
  19. indeed. A dog act by a dog of a player. His post-match interview reads like an abusive spouse trying to argue his sentence down "I love the guy to bits". Spare me.
  20. I agree with you about Salem. His drop in form has been sad. But who replaces him, maybe Smith shifts to defence? Lever needs to play alongside two lockdown KPDs (May and Tomlinson or Turner) in order to function effectively. That's disappointing for probably one of our highest paid players.
  21. We've clearly peaked as a list (2021 to first half of 2022). We're now on the slide and it's only going to get worse as key players like May, Lever, Salem, Gawn have all declined in their impact and will continue inevitably downward. Add to that the decline of Harmes and Spargo and loss of players like Bedford and likely JJ searching for more opportunity, which has impacted our depth. I initially thought that going after a big fish was the way to go, but on second thoughts. We really need to nail this draft to refresh our squad. Luckily we have the picks to do it so over to you Jason Taylor.
  22. Has Goodwin ever made that many changes? Can't see more than 3 myself. Out: JVR (suspension), Gus (conc), Laurie (omitted) In: Grundy (last roll of the dice), Jordon, Tomlinson I would normally drop Tmac but since JVR is likely to be suspended, he stays. Smith the sub.
  23. Salem definitely should be dropped. The game has well and truly passed him by unfortunately.
  24. I think the problem is that our forwards are moving too much. They should play more like intercept defenders and just read the kick inside 50 off the boot rather than leading and putting themselves out of position. Why do you think Petty has been so effective as a forward? LoL Also, please bring in a real forward coach, somebody like a Stevie J who can teach our small forward how to crumb. It's almost as big a flaw in our game as the slow, high, predictable kick to the forward pocket.
  25. Yep, I saw that too and Bayley has the skill to pass off accurately around his body. It was very selfish. His later dribble kick goal should have also been a handball to Kossie to run into an open goal. He had a dirty night did Fritta.
