  1. We've clearly peaked as a list (2021 to first half of 2022). We're now on the slide and it's only going to get worse as key players like May, Lever, Salem, Gawn have all declined in their impact and will continue inevitably downward. Add to that the decline of Harmes and Spargo and loss of players like Bedford and likely JJ searching for more opportunity, which has impacted our depth. I initially thought that going after a big fish was the way to go, but on second thoughts. We really need to nail this draft to refresh our squad. Luckily we have the picks to do it so over to you Jason Taylor.
  2. Has Goodwin ever made that many changes? Can't see more than 3 myself. Out: JVR (suspension), Gus (conc), Laurie (omitted) In: Grundy (last roll of the dice), Jordon, Tomlinson I would normally drop Tmac but since JVR is likely to be suspended, he stays. Smith the sub.
  3. Salem definitely should be dropped. The game has well and truly passed him by unfortunately.
  4. I think the problem is that our forwards are moving too much. They should play more like intercept defenders and just read the kick inside 50 off the boot rather than leading and putting themselves out of position. Why do you think Petty has been so effective as a forward? LoL Also, please bring in a real forward coach, somebody like a Stevie J who can teach our small forward how to crumb. It's almost as big a flaw in our game as the slow, high, predictable kick to the forward pocket.
  5. Yep, I saw that too and Bayley has the skill to pass off accurately around his body. It was very selfish. His later dribble kick goal should have also been a handball to Kossie to run into an open goal. He had a dirty night did Fritta.
  6. Disagreed Bitter, except for the first quarter and patches of the third, Collingwood looked very ordinary
  7. Controversial perhaps, but if I'm Tim Lamb, I'm offering pick 5 and Kozzie Pickett for Oscar Allen.
  8. Gonna be tough to win the next game with a completely dysfunctional fwd line.
  9. Geez if Collingwood win the flag something is wrong with the AFL, bog ordinary team. They were just lucky we brought out seasons worst tonight
  10. Defence is slow. Hibberd ain't the right matchup for Elliot. Our gameplan is hydrophobic.
  11. I agree. Giants used this strategy for years. Just grab as many top ender's as you can. If we nail the picks (eg Oliver), we laugh all the way to the bank If they want out after a couple seasons e.g. Jackson/Treloar/Hogan you trade them for more early picks. Rinse and repeat. We have a need for gun mids and a May understudy if we want to extend the premiership window.
  12. Salem looks very droppable at the moment. Slow and ineffective. Players just brush past him.
  13. Significant lisfranc...can't help but think of the Mitch Clark experience. Hope I'm wrong.
  14. Agreed, surely Tmac is fresh and ready to go if he's fully fit. He'll be desperate to cement a spot in the best 22 (as will all potential Petty replacements).
  15. As opposed to what in Melbourne....volunteer at the soup kitchen and broker world peace? With all due respect, what an inane post.
  16. Off topic, I'll grant you, but 'cooked' perfectly describes James Harmes. My goodness he has declined as a player.
  17. Is it just me, or does May look like he's treading water out there? Looks injured and very slow.
  18. Surely we take the best midfielder available with our Jackson compo. We haven't drafted a 1st round mid since Oliver.
  19. Agree, would surely be leading the Bluey right now.
  20. Took the words out of my mouth Jontee. Terrible game. Cost us at least 3 goals directly from bad decision making and/or execution. Tomlinson - Played very well. Chandler - return to form Gus - second best on Viney - three Brownlow votes Brown - Drop for Grundy?
  21. Agreed, it's an expansion of the finals games from 9 currently over a four week period to 13 games over a 5 week period. Ditch the pre- finals bye, add in a PF round before the GF (top 2 from each group qualify) and that's 15 games in 5 weeks. Broadcasters would love it. Not sure about the impact on the clubs that play the finals. Late starts to preseason and all that. Would certainly be more difficult to back up a flag tilt the following year after a gruelling 5 week finals season to finish the year.
  22. Agree with this. Instead of your finals season idea though, I think they should stick with the current top 8 system with a minor tweak. Team finishing 1st who wins the QF gets to play the lowest ranked winner of the Semi Finals. As it currently stands, the team that finishes 2nd has a potentially easier path to the GF, most likely playing the side that finished 4th in the prelim, vs the top team who probably plays the 3rd team to get into the GF. Granted, the likelihood of games featuring the same opponents in the QFs and PFs is high, but it's finals, who cares? The potential for grudge rematches in the PFs would be epic.
  23. The AFL are really flying close to the sun with these ideas. A real danger of ballsing thing up big time.
