Weren't we supposed to have fixed this? Goodwin said our poor starts were hurting us and they have worked on it? Well GUESS WHAT???? It aint fixed!!!!!!!!
-
In the first 19 games we were level or ahead in every game bar two in the last quarter. Our problem is mental toughness, pea hearts and leadership. Setting win goals is a useless exercise. Show some [censored] hurt, mongrel and desire. No one gives it to you. you have to go and take it.

Goodwin has constatntly said 'we aren't concerned about what's happened in the past' etc Well we are and the problem if you ignore the past is that it gets repeated. Many of us remember the heartbreak of the 87 prelim, the 88 GF and the 2000 GF. We survived through the crap years of 2007 -2016. We endured ridicule and watched as other teams consistently re-invented themselves like the Hawks, the Swans, West Coast, the Cats, the Dogs etc. We watched as other players from other clubs continually get voted in the AA team, win media awards, play finals year in year out and reach elite status. We have rarely seen an elite player. I would say, if you were totally unbiased, the last elite player we have had is David Neitz. And we have probably had 3 or 4 elite players in 25 years. Its just not [censored] good enough. Melbourne are the perennial laughing stock. Every team thinks they can beat us by putting pressure on us. My kids have never seen finals. I have seen two GF thrashings. Few of these players or coaches for that matter remember much of what went on. Many of them are comfortable with their high paying jobs in elite sport. But we the supporters know. We remember. And it hurts. The coaches and the players will come and go and I will support them while they are there. They will pull their big salaries and live a comfy life but at the end of the day it is us the supporters that continue to ensure that this club exists. Without us there is no club. These mentally weak pea hearts need to be rooted out of the club. I want to see some mongrel and some passion shown by the players and the coaches. I want NQR players gone. If they can't improve and strive to be elite they have no business at our club. Words mean nothing. Couldn't care less. Show us some action on the field or [censored] off. I want every player to sit in the front row of every final. I want it to burn their guts that they aren't out there. There are 18 teams and 8 of them every year make finals. We haven't done it for 11 years. Its plain embarrassing and the players and the club and players should be ashamed.

Thats not what you said but.
-
Where have I heard this before..........
-
Agree with this. Another poor move from the club. Should have shown solidarity in owning the performance. Sending out the email for finals tickets takes the cake though.
-
Someone said he was seen at the aiport today. Not sure of this was taling the pizz or not.....
-
Kirby didn't kick a goal. Not sure what game you were watching. Kind of kills your point. Jones was one of the few that could hold his head high. Made a few errors but was relentless in having a dip.

Larry's first post. Nice trolling dipstick.

We know he is your love child. Garland is particularly upset you have moved on from him. Exactly who was it that allowed 7 marks in the collingwood fwd 50 in the first quarter? Which defenders should take responsibility for that?

This is all great but the fact is when the real stuff happens and games are on the line we are nowhere. There are numerous example of Melbourne where "we didn't come to play" FFS what is that. Supporters on here knew we would get smashed by Ess in rd 2 last year but the club was clueless. Supporters on here knew that North would beat us this year and the club was clueless. Many here were supremely nervous about us against Collingwood on the weekend. But it seems the club took it as 'just another game' Goodwin has to take full responsibility along with the players for the pizzweak start against Collingwood. He is desperate to keep things on an even keel and not have emotional ups and downs but rather professional calm analysis and measured statements etc. That might be fine when you have a professional football team like say geelong, but we don't. Our team is mentally fragile and needs a rocket. Northey in particular was fantastic at building up teams pre game. he is a long way from Goodwin. I remember the 2000 GF build up. Daniher was 'on the couch' on the Monday after the Brownlow to Woey. He was giggling and loving the build up to the GF. Sheedy looked mean as cats pee and hardly said a word. I knew then we would get beaten. Even more so in the rooms before the game where all the backslappers in the Melb rooms were there, excited to be in a GF and the mood jovial and relaxed. The Ess rooms were high intensity with boxing, shouting and wrestling. We were cooked from the first minute. When Sheedy coached GWS he knew the team would get smashed but he was adament for them never to take a backward step. This resulted in them being well known for giving lip and having a little too much unwarranted arrogance. But it set them up as a club where the standards were high in relation to having a dip. Contrast that with our on and off field leadership. Take out Viney and we have Lewis, Jones, Tom and Bernie. Hardly going to walk over hot coals for that lot. Goodwin needs to get some mongrel quickly.

Hunt had 1 possession in the first quarter, It wasn't him turning it over.
-
They said that about Yze

Hopefully he's going to New Zealand to speak with Dustin Martin

Trade. Turned the ball over twice in the 1st 3 minutes on Saturday. Has progressively got worse after his tremendous first year. Looks like he overates his ability and always tries to bite off more than he can chew. The Salem, Tyson trade is a bust for me.

I'd like to make everyone of those pea hearts sit in the front row of every finals game and watch how other teams compete.
-
I'd pay double if they tried

Gee we have come so far...pathetic The swans won the spoon in 1994 with 4 wins. They were 12th in 1995 and played in a grand Final in 1996. The Bulldogs were 15th in 12 and 13, 16th in 2014 and won a flag in 2016. Don't give this bullshite that we are improving. This is not a game of incremental improvement in ladder position. Teams leap up the ladder frequently. We are a laughing stock of a club where it doesn't hurt when we lose. We are comfortable with mediocrity. There needs to be a major statement from our inconsequential, unsighted president, our CEO and our two Captains about what we will accept as a club. As for those players that don't stand up when it counts. they can [censored] off.
-
That settles it . Why turn up at all. Loser attitude.
-
9 [censored] points and we play finals
-
Spud. Wont make it no intensity or physical presence at all. We will never win a flag with the two McDonalds in the team.
-
Melbourne the only club that can fark you twice in one weekend Way to go spuds.
-
Failed Season. Kick 3 pts more and allow 1 less goal we play finals. that simple. 3 tackles in the first 20 mins and 7 marks in Coll's fwd 50 in the first qtr broke our season. The players that represented the team yesterday have failed the club, themselves and the supporters. We need to get rid of players that continually fail to stand up when counted. I barrack for the club. Not the players. Fork em. The players will come and go but I will always barrack for our club.
-
Lewis played OK. Changed his game from getting the outside ball to the inside ball and we looked a lot better. Without Viney our leadership sucks though. Gawn, Vince, TMac are pathetic leaders. Jones tries really hard but can't swing games like Viney can.
