Sexton is the Kent Kingsley/Time Membrey of the Gold Coast. You never hear from him until they play the Demons. 5 goals certainty!
-
Smith has been putrid but my guess he has been told to 'take the game on' and spoil at every opportunity. Problem is he has no idea how to defend. Leaves his man at the wrong time, flies when there are already 3 going up, fails to kill the ball when he does. He seems like a neat kick and is quite quick and athletic but for the moment you'd think fwd is where he has to be in order to stop being a liabillty

You clearly have reading and comprehension deficiencies
-
He's stubborn
-
He has a history of playing players out of their positions. Fritsch, Brayshaw, Harmes are three. He seems incredibly stubborn to me. Infuriatingly monotonous - I couldn't imagine going to work every day and having to listen to him drone on.

That's not what I said. Our average taking out 1 qtr against Carlton is 11 pts. Under 2 goals a qtr. Whoopy Do. Scintillating football And I couldn't care less what other teams are averaging. Last season we scored 1569 pts from 22 games 17.8pts a qtr the 2nd worst in the competition Anyone that doesn't think we have a problem is delusional. Self evident.
-
These posts are frankly pathetic. You clearly don't watch the games. Last 28 games 2 wins by more than a goal We're going brilliantly according to you.
-
Since 2004 only 7 teams have won a flag
-
Take out that 1 quarter against Carlton and we are averaging a pifling 11 points a qtr. 11 POINTS!
-
And you'd be wrong Our momentum was as a result of the rd 21 loss to the Sydney Swans. Goodwin changed the game plan, we went to Perth and knocked off the Eagles and we won a further 3 good games. Hogan was irrelevant

Our record the last 27 games (Operation Get Ross Lyon)
jnrmac replied to Pickett2Jackson's topic in Melbourne Demons
You could give him 50 yrs but the club would be gone within 4 Can't coach, Stubborn, bereft of ideas how to fix straightforward issues -
We all know how this story ends Its written in the stars
-
You might be correct with the confirmation bias but since Rd 1 2018 his accuracy is 43% for set shots and 31% for general play He's a terrible kick for goal TMac is 63/60 JHunt is 58/58 https://www.statsinsider.com.au/afl/shot-charting

Garry Lyon: "Melbourne Supporters are Gutted"
jnrmac replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Didn't we have a full internal review last year? Because our game plan was so appalling? And didn't we change all our assistant coaching roles? To refresh and inject new ideas? We got rid of a bunch of coaches /assistants /strategists It has clearly failed. I defy anyone to provide evidence to the contrary. That all points to the Senior Coach who has admitted he doesn't know how to change things. Lets not procrastinate any longer. he's a dud. -
Then lets change the midfield. If they aren't doing what they are supposed to put in Harmes, Brayshaw, Chandler Dunkley etc Oliver & Viney take a rest
-
He had a great PowerPoint apparently ???
-
We're 17th on the ladder We avg 11pts a qtr (excluding 1 qtr against Carlton) 11POINTS!!! Last 28 games, 2 wins by more than a goal We have our very best 22 on the park Epstein didn't kill himself & Goodwin can't coach

I think we desperately need experience. Remember when Roos spoke everyone listened? It doesn't always work: Worsfold has been ordinary for example but one of the major failings at out club is that we don't have a successful recent past where players/coaches come back in and help educate the new breed. Our coaching staff haven't had recent successes and when rookies are surrounded by other 'rookies' it doesn't work. ALan Richardson doesn't 'appear' to have helped at all but its hard to know. I suspect Voss would be much better the second time around. I can't stand Hird but he would be better 2nd time around. Ross Lyon is the obvious choice I guess but he doesn't inspire me personally. He wasn't great at Freo and his recruiting record is very poor but his first 4 yrs he won 67 from 87 and got them to a GF. Clarkson is the main one and if you look at his protoges they have largely done very well....

there's a first time for everything Roos aside we haven't had an experienced coach since Northey in 1992. Why do we keep going with untried 'flavour of the month' rookies? I reckon most coaches are better second time around altho I don't have the stats to back that up. It seems that experience is shunned in AFL coaching circles. Ratten has immediately got the Saints playing better football.
