I'd be surprised if worrying about boosting a team which would be competitive for the flag is of much significance compared with other issues with list management.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Forgive me for not keeping up but where has the club said anything about paying $700k? Surely that would be negotiated

Rumours
I come here looking for rumours (as per the subject title) but all I see is the sort of arguments going on in other threads. How about some actual rumours? They can be as absurd and based on fantasy as you or any journo would like.

Farewell Judd McVee
If he wasn't getting to play the role he wanted, I would have thought all those sackings you listed might have caused him to think again about wanting to go. Things would be different than they were when he was [censored] off. There's more to it than our club's alledged incompetence.
-
Farewell Clayton Oliver
I take from that that the club is wisely avoiding commenting of anything which would affect any negotiations.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Relax a bit PF. You said 'it seems' but react as if 'it' is 100% true. Explode as much as you like if it turns out to be true.

Farewell Christian Petracca
People read a lot negative into it when Tracc said "It's my job". But that could also indicate that if we can't get good deal with the Suns, he'll be back doing his "job" at MFC. (And who knows what would happen by the end of 2026.) Of course if the club is desperate to get rid of him, we might accept crumbs. But I don't think any of us or the Suns would know if are we that desperate.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
It's a bit rough when we start shooting arrows into oppo players.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Ah ha - also explains why he didn't try to find a flight direct from Melb to USA.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Thanks. I don't doubt your timeline, but surprised that anyone travelling from Melb to USA would plan an overnight stay in Sydney rather than just transfer terminals at Kingsford Smith.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
I'm baffled by the different timelines that people are using to bolster their positions. I understood that the sequence was: Oliver meets King - immediately goes to airport to Sydney for his overseas trip - meets with GWS on boat. Was it all in one day or over 2 days?
-
Farewell Clayton Oliver
Whether you think he went off in a huff or not, it does seem strange that he was able to arrange that boat trip so quickly. Almost as if that was always planned, meeting with King regardless?

Imploding
Praha, you should get a job as a footy journo with that sort of misleading tabloid sentence. It seems widely held McVee was always leaving so it had nothing to do with 'chose to leave after meeting King'.

Media Madness
Does he mean that the MFC is a gigantic iceberg that can sink the most modern powerful luxury ship?

Steven King interview SEN 2.10.2025
I desperately need a "Good Grief" emoticon.

I expect "Oliver speaks to @cleary" is that in-depth civil discussion they had when @cleary was hassling him at the airport.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Typical of these threads. None of us have any idea why he has gone ot Sydney. Did GWS tell him if you ever want to leave MFC, just hop on a plane immediately - maybe check if we are available. Or did Oliver fly up hoping to sell himself with no notice? Both seem unlikley - so reading anything into it is a stretch.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Why a say 'mess'. If King merely said that like everyone he has to earn their place and fit into changed game plans, and a player overreacts, then the blame is on the player, not the club. But as usual we are just guessing and those who like reaching for the razor blades can have a good time.

So no panic merchant is going to say the fact that he posted that indicates he plans to stay with MFC no matter what.

Does Morris ever say how he knows any of that?

2026 Rule Changes
OK, I'll go with maybe first bounce of the game. Given there are several umps on the field, that could be done with the one who is best at it and has a strong back.

2026 Rule Changes
Whatever the AFL's motivation, throwing it up wiill be fairer.

2026 Rule Changes
It's not the bad bounces that get recalled that irk me, it's the bad ones which don't get recalled. And by 'bad' I include bounces that advantages one ruck and disadvantages the other. I like tradition, but the bounce is too often unfair. But I'm amazed the AFL has dumped it without C'wood losing a grand final because of a disadvatageous bounce in the last 30 seconds.

Dimmy wasn't suggesting anything or commenting on Trac. He was simply saying he was confused and asking how these player contracts worked. He won't be alone in that. There are large slabs of these contracts that I at least, know nothing about. For example, while a club can hold a player to their contract, what protections has the club to be able to sack a player who fulfils "turn up to training, turn up to gameday, play football" but makes bugger-all effort or undermines the club in some way? There must be some, but I suspect it's a lawyers picnic if it ever went to court.
