  1. I think we would all love to see Jack complete the fairytale by becoming a champion player in a Demons premiership side. We've got the script, we just need to produce the product.
  2. A good article on the progress of our new recruits. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/Default.aspx...mp;newsId=54883
  3. It's a good article and it is obvious that Brad understands why he is not in the leadership group and wants to do something about it. Rather than dwell on the negatives he is now looking at doing more to get back in which shows a great maturity and attitude. This scenario is very similar to Goodes at Sydney. He was devastated when he polled low in the leadership ballot. After a frank discussion with Paul Roos he wrote down everything that he needed to improve and to his credit, was able to tick them off at the end of the next season.
  4. Quite a few people feel that Yze will be needed less as we now have Maric & Aussie. It is rare that several first year players have a significant impact in the same team. Whilst there are outstanding efforts ala Davey, Selwood, etc they are the exception rather than the rule. The other thing to remember is that Aussie is not even on our senior list yet and won't be until when have a long term injury.
  5. I would float him between forward pocket, wing and bench. If fit and enthusiastic I would definitely have him in my side. He has the x-factor to be able to turn a game.
  6. I would love to Miller return to the form of the 06 final in Fremantle and hope that DB is able to bring the best out of him this season and beyond. However, if his place in the leadership group is based purely on values then Simon Godfrey would have been a great candidate.
  7. I have read many times how ND wanted players to lose muscle to accommodate a run and carry game plan and now note with interest that Rodney Eade wants his players to bulk up. I would have thought that you need both types in your team, ie strong bullocking types who can get the hard ball (ala jones) and fast outside players who can carry & move it on quickly (ala Davey). Surely each player should play to their individual talents and strengths which would compliments their teammates attributes. I can't see how anyone could have turned Robbie Flower into a Todd Viney or visa versa, but both were important players for us.
  8. I've read a couple of times how DB has the players sitting regular exams on game plans etc and find it very reassuring. I've not heard of this being done before in footy (although doesn't mean that it hasn't) and feel that it is an excellent way to ensure that every player knows the team rules inside out. All players will want to do well in these exams with a new coach on board and DB can also pinpoint who he needs to spend extra time with based on results.
  9. I haven't read this before and appreciate you posting it on this site. I genuinely regret that I live too far away to join in one Wednesday night as it would be great to pull on the boots again at the end of a stressful day at work.
  10. Chris Scott would be a great addition to the coaching panel. So we now have Mahoney, Wellman and is Williams still with us? How many assistant coaches do we normally run with?
  11. He has stated in the past that ideally he would have coaching experience away from Collingwood. If Bailey could persuade him to become Asst coach at Melbourne, anything would be achievable.
  12. I can't imagine Port delisting a talented youngster without a good reason.
  13. I think Mark has handled himself extremely well this week from his efforts on the footy show to the way he post match interviews. I was particularly impressed when he went to congratulate the Geelong players and staff. Complete class!!!
  14. There were big rumblings at Essendon re Sheedy too. A massive 20 people turned up to their rally meeting.
  15. The problem is that Daniher does not make those calls anymore.
  16. Completely agree Powelly!!!! I wouldn't wait until after next week though.
  17. I heard the entire interview and he did not say that ALL Melbourne supporters are fickle, but there is no doubt that outside the core diehards we don't have enough people attend games. Paul handled himself extremely well and was frank in his comments which included; - I have always said a decision would be made on the coach when the season was done and dusted - When questioned he admitted that it would be fair to say that we are done and dusted now - Clearly stated that he is not a football expert, however believes that players will now be playing for their spots next year - Believes that we need to consider going with the kids now that finals are out of the question. It was the first time that Gardiner has even remotely given the impression that Daniher will not be coaching at Melbourne next year.
