  1. Made important steps today but ultimately I do not see a position for him in 3 years time, which means he is taking the spot of someone who could be. Deserves a spot for the next few weeks, but more than a couple of indifferent games should see him gone. I suspect Newton will only be saved by the length of his contract.
  2. I have in the past struggled to see how he fits in to our team of the future but I can now see what he does best. A few goals and a few assists adding up to an important part of our attack. Jack Watts will stand much taller in the goal square with Miller in front of him.
  3. Also love to see Jimmy in there, as well as his fantastic mark he took from the left boot of Miller, he hasn't lost it the big lad. Really sells himself as a man of the people, honest and amongst it. He is changing the face of our club, and hopefully it's perception amongst potential members.
  4. You forgot to put Scully in there.
  5. If I were a Carlton fan I would be pretty [censored], they cheated and bought their way to a list and they can't even beat essendon!
  6. He has Spencer and CHeney in his team, also has Rich.
  7. We could use his fitness in the secand half of the game. And as much as I like Jake's attack on the ball he needs to learn to back his own ability like he did in his first game, and I think he coulddo that at Casey.
  8. Watts - 26/03/91 Blease - 19/02/91 Only a couple of months younger than Watts.
  9. Soon they'll have to play Jack Watts, there aren't many more players to choose from.
  10. Butcher & Scully
  11. Never too early. Anyone got any inside word on who the top prospects are for 2010 draft?
  12. the AFL website is useless... it keeps crashing. It is pretty simple really, yet they make it look so hard
  13. Butcher and Scully
  14. Great idea, and one that Melbourne needs to target. I think there are many parents who deliberately don't sned their kids to the footy because the crowds can be intimidating. I went to a Canadian Football Match some years ago and was amazed at the number of children attending, there were also many strict rules around swaring and generally abusive behaviour, it made for a very friendly environment. As a low crowd drawing team, in a very large stadium we have an opportunity that few other clubs have, that is to offer quality seating (ground level) that offers a safe environment for young kids and familys. we also need the Parents leaving the MCG saying, It's fun barracking for the Dees.
  15. I hope hey don't fold/move/merge, I don't see why they would need to anyway. I don't particularly like them, especially at the moment but if they went to he wall and they afl made a move on them I would like to think I would be there shpwing my support. I just don't see the benefit for the game by removing them.
  16. 22 kicks, 15 Handballs @ 73% , 2 goals Still happy with the trade
  17. Clearly still dirty about the bump Whelan laid on Hird a few years ago.
  18. What is needed now is a focus on a positive future. We have played the "desperately poor" card, now we play the "we're on the way up" card, asking for a handout from supporters is not part of that card.
  19. Good on the MFC for updating the website so regularly. It's like a sport of it's own.
  20. Robbo, 40+ this poll is somewhat depressing, imagine the equivelant poll for Hawthorne <60 would be the lower option. But I would prefer it to be one of the younger guys like maric or wonna. I would also like to see PJ assert himself there. Actually if the questipn was "who do you WANT the leading goal kicker to be?" I would say Watts. I have no doubt that if DB wasn't being so careful with him and committed to playing him deep in the forward line he would win it, whether or not that is our best option at this point i'm not so sure, but it is fun to think about.
  21. If it is going to be a Beer, at least make it a decent beer, i don't want to have to drink Tooheys Red for three years.
  22. who? Bartram is one our best IMHO. His intensity at the footy is unmatched, something the younger ones need to learn. I can see a long future for him at this club, he won't win a brownlow but I could certainly see him take home a bluey.
  23. I think we play collingwood round 2, I am hoping a round 1 win would mean that the following week we would sign up a heap more. Allowing us to crack 30,000. Which would be fantastic
  24. Yes this is a concern, I wasn't aware of this. (2m contingent on us staying in Olympic park deal) I am fuzzy on the details but wasn't this deal going to be far too expensive for us which is why we were keen to get out of it? I am excited about the new stadium (it's looking great from the train) but a little concerned about the cost.
