Well for one, it never lasts. As for MFC optimism..................well it's like the bus system - you arrive at the bus stop on time and the bus is 10 minutes late, or you're one minute late and the bus goes by just as you're within 50m of the stop. It's nothing but a teasing, elusive illusion.

This is why i think demonland is great for a laugh. Every year it's the same. 1) Season goes off the rails 2) Supporters start longing for the off-season 3) Supporters start to get impatient between start of off-season and draft 4) Draft comes and goes and hope is restored 5) As pre-season kicks in to overdrive we looked really good, increasing optimism 6) Supporters start longing for games to begin 7) Season starts and inevitably, the process begins again

Here's hoping Roos takes a big axe to the list and doesn't hold back. Some would say too many list changes can hurt, but at least you give yourself the chance to recruit a better player, as opposed to keeping the crap one's that will continue to give you zilch.
-
Agree, the past few weeks he has had very little impact. Needs a rest or sent back to the 2's, as he is not worthy of a spot given current form (then again, how many would be?)
-
I know Roos is all about defence, but surely he's got to understand that to win games, you need to kick goals too and not just limit the opposition.

Selection of Paul Roos successor

no, i ran in to him once and had a little chat. Let's just say, the conversation i had and the tv intro he gave are consistent with one another. He just goes about explaining things a little differently. Eg. when going from A to B, one would think to take the most direct route, whereas Kirk went to C & D before finding his way to B. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

no, they are back in the draft, as they surrendered picks when Tippett left. -
Players to target at the end of the year

No, he'd warrant an early-mid first round pick. If Frawley were to leave and we were given a pick after our first rounder (say pick 5), i believe a fair trade (provided that Carlisle has nothing to worry about ASADA wise) would be pick 5 for Carlisle and Essendon's 2nd round pick (if they can get one). -

If that were to be the case, then we'd definitely need Roosy around the club in some capacity, just to help translate to the players what Kirk is trying to say. Very odd character indeed. -

Carlisle isn't a free agent. So any trade we do to bring him in, would not affect any compo we might receive should Chip leave. -

As much as i hate the Scum, Carlisle is definitely worth a first round pick (and a highish one at that). -

Overlook him? I'm just hoping he'll still be there come our first pick. -
GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY
Demon Disciple replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
We should be given band 1 compo regardless. How we didn't get a PP at the end of last year was farcical. AFL said we still had Mitch Clark and Hogan to come in. Ignoring the fact that it should be based on what has just transpired and not on future potentials, both of these players have not played a game for us this year, one is now retired and one might get a couple of games at the back end. *cough* band 1 compo *cough* -

Please................... This was Jim's mantra long before the Scum even thought of using it as their druggy slogan. How dare they sully Jim's creed for the rest of eternity. -
Started like a house on fire but has since cooled a fair bit. We need him to try and get back near where he was earlier in the year, because he is such a presence and focal point. Agree that he is a good chest mark, but there's a little to be desired when marking overhead (though most CHF's are the same, in leading up and taking a chest mark).

Is the tank alive? I'd be watching Carlton very closely for the rest of the year, they might try and get away with it again.
-
I agree, don't the AFL know that most filth supporters need to get up very early Monday morning so they can be at the front of the queue at Centrelink.

As much as Eddie likes to hear the sound of his own voice, i have to agree with him on this one. What a $h!t timeslot for a game. The only time a game should take place on a Sunday night, is if there is a public holiday the next day. Sure poor weather could have played a part for the lower attendance, but fancy that, cold and wet in the middle of winter (who would have guessed?) The fixture has been an absolute joke this year, maybe now that it has pi$$ed off a heavyweight, the AFL might actually do something to improve the woeful situation that they have caused.
-
Actually, on a day like today, probably a good thing it's being played at Docklands (for the supporters at least).

Players to target at the end of the year
Demon Disciple replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree, got good skills and pace. He just might be what we are hoping Toumpas can be. Can always do with more pace and skill. It would be a risky trade, but one that could pay big dividends. But at what price? Freo would probably knock that back, but i wouldn't give up anything better. -
This might be a weird question, but does anyone else think that Tippett may be in a bit of trouble (or get points) from the MRP? He deliberately stuck his leg/knee out and collected Shaw in the head. How is this any different than if someone chose to hip'n'shoulder but made contact with the oppositions head?

I honestly don't know why we don't have an MFC development coach taking charge of Casey. As part of the alignment we give them financial help. But more importantly, now that we have a quality AFL coaching set-up, having them in charge of Casey would benefit a VFL side greatly, but also align with what Roosy is trying to accomplish. It would also help speed up the development of our players and be consistent with training during the week.

Meanwhile the bloke he is in awe of, can't even get on the park for us. Talk about hypocrisy.
-
I should've included Rohan Welsh as well. He'd be wise to heed such advice.
-
And if they hadn't, i'm sure Roosy will be chucking the towel in for them! Tapscott, Blease and Strauss can all start looking for a new job. If i were JT, even though i've only been in the system for a year, i'd want to be getting my ass into gear pretty quickly (in the voice of Hansie Cronje).
