  1. wouldn't mind trying to get both these boys into the club. Harrison Wigg North Adelaide 14.10.1996 Height: 179cm Weight: 74kg Small defender who is an elite left foot kick which helps set up his team on the rebound and from kick-ins. Reads the play exceptionally well, averaging 18.8 disposals at 79.3 per cent effectiveness during the NAB AFL U18 Championships and winning South Australia's MVP. To cap off an outstanding championships he was also named in the All Australian U18 team in defence. Caleb Daniel South Adelaide 7.7.1996 Height: 167cm Weight: 68kg Small forward who is a prolific ball winner, makes great decisions and executes well by hand or foot. Shows the ability to bring others into the game. Had an outstanding last three games of the U18 Championships, averaging 20 disposals at 92 per cent efficiency and two goals per game on his way to winning All Australian honours.
  2. No way in hell Stringer would be on the move, after suffering a potentially career-ending injury before even being drafted, the year he has had just shows how much more upside there is to him.
  3. Source? (no names, but inside the club?)
  4. Wright is one of the better kicks i have seen for a tall man/ruckman. Similar to Mitch Clark in having good kicking, or Cox or Jeff White. As for his physicality, no, he's no Hogan or Hawkins (or McCartin) who already knew how to use their bodies and impose themselves before they were drafted, but he's more of a ruckman in this sense and will develop that part of his game as he matures into his body. He'll still need time to learn how to use his height and weight to impose himself. He already has the size, so is not as raw or starting from absolute scratch in that sense, but he will need to develop his strength (easier than developing both strength and size, nor as time consuming).
  5. Petracca is this draft's best player, if that's not enough to not want him, i don't know what is.
  6. Not even Petracca will help us i'm afraid. In fact, i'm concerned for the kid's well-being, needs to stay well away or his football career will amount to nothing. Run Christian, Run.
  7. What about the little fella Caleb Daniel (#1 from SA). Every time i see him on a highlight reel, i like him more and more. A lot of people say he's too small and that's the reason why he'll be a late or rookie pick at best. I think that type of thinking is complete bs. Prestia seems to be doing pretty well for a little bloke too. For anyone that will say Prestia's physicality allows him to do well, i'm gonna counter with Daniel's pace allowing to become an effective AFL player. Plus, and the biggest plus, the kids got heart. Give me that over Jack Watts' attitude any day of the week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_v6hB90Noo#t=376 his highlights vid is more impressive than Stretches, imo.
  8. I'd zip it. Must be for the MFC's benefit, even if it is against our own.
  9. If Chip leaves and we get Band 1 compo, i'd like to see us bring in a replacement for him. Seeing how there would be so few quality young, ready made KPD we could trade for, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we brought in Durdin with that pick. Use our first rounder on a Petracca or bringing in another good young mid, coz we clearly need to improve the midfield more.
  10. Rising Star nominations and even the overall winner means stuff all, imo.
  11. JCB does pretty well most times. He was red hot on wanting to bring in Talia a long way out from the draft, back in 2009 (he told me he wanted Talia very early in the '09 season). But i will say this though John. Saying that Conglio is not up to it (whilst entitled to your opinion) is not one i agree with. I wouldn't call you a fool though.
  12. It would need to be Tapscott and a pick. Or a lower pick just on its own. BP could sure pick them!
  13. We do this and we leave ourselves without a quality KPD (dangerous game to play). If we were to go down that path, then i'd take one of Petracca/Brayshaw and try and bring in another young afl experienced mid with some pace and skill (like a Shiel or Coniglio). But i'd prefer to try and bring in both a tall and a small with whatever picks we end up having.
  14. What we think doesn't really matter. Roosy is in charge and he'll make these types of decisions and that's good enough for me.
  15. Of course i'd have him over Dawson. McDonald does very well one-on-one. He well and truly deserves his spot on the list and in the back-line, but as far as his disposal and decision making is concerned, he simply cannot be the one who brings it out of defence (nor should he be the cornerstone of our defence). Many of the oppositions goals results directly from our turnovers in the back-line and that is hardly surprising. How many of our defenders can be said to have good disposal? Very, very few and it is a pressing need.
  16. Tom McDonald is not a long-term solution to play as a KPD. The reason for this is because 1) his disposal is sh!thouse and 2) his decision making is even worse. People try and create excuses for him saying that he will improve with time and experience. However i disagree. To become a quality player (or even just a player you can rely on) they need to display at least some natural ability when it comes to skills and decision-making. McDonald has neither. When you are working with 0 you end up with 0. If a club can improve a player by 'X' %, 'X' % of zero is still zero. McDonald is more of a 3rd option (not tall) when it comes to getting the ball out of the back-line, in that he is neither the first or second choice to have the ball in hand. Luckily Dunn has come in this year and held up one of these positions. But we are still a player or tall KPD short without Frawley (i see Garland as a third tall defender). Should Frawley move on come end of year, it is imperative we bring in a quality tall defender by way of trade or the draft. That leaves the other early pick to bring in another young mid via the draft or trade period. Dream scenario would be bringing in one of Shiel or Coniglio with the compo pick, and Durdin falling through to our first rounder (but that's even more of as pipe dream than landing Roos). Long story short, i wouldn't be relying on McDonald to be the cornerstone of our defence.
  17. Ok, so Roos has come out wanting some more classy midfielders. Looking at this upcoming draft, the 2 mids making the biggest noise would be Brayshaw from the hype and Petracca on his hot form. Classy isn't the first thought that comes to mind with these 2. Grunt and Power respectively. So it seems like yet again, we will try and bring in an up and coming mid with our first rounder as the bait. It worked the first time, let's load up again!
  18. Agree that Coniglio is not a pure inside mid. He can play outside just as well as inside. Capable of gaining clearances, but also has very good disposal and is quick. Definitely wouldn't hurt having him line up in our midfield.
  19. Not doubting you at all Mousey, but how would this happen? I thought he signed a contract extension at the end of last year with a bunch of others, tying him to the club for at least 3 more years. Doubt GWS will part with him.
  20. The hell we should. Would love to get Brayshaw into our club. Unless they offered something ridiculous like 13 + Goldstein.
  21. We did with Scott Selwood. Wouldn't mind him.
  22. The way he is going, i'm thinking we may have to give up our 2nd rounder for Billy Stretch.
  23. Surely if they do qualify for a PP at year's end, it would be for an end of first round PP and not a pre first round PP right away.
  24. It's quite clear, that the recruiting manager who wished to go unnamed was Barry Prendergast.
  25. Yep, they are calling out for their next big KPF. He fits the bill big time for them.
