  1. Ideally you'd want to keep Warnock. His judgment, positioning etc let's him down at times - but he is strong and fast - the sort of key defender its hard to find. Like any trade - it all depends on what you'd get for him. If we could somehow use him in a 3 way deal to get David Hale as a tall forward/change ruck, I'd be supportive. Anything less .... and Warnock would be a loss. (I'd take a draft pick for Cheney .... anything up to 55 or 60 .... he has limited upside potential)
  2. Not sure that we could get him - but of all of the players looking for a new home, he's the one who'd really boost our list. Proven tall forward - and capable ruckman - to ease the load on Jamar while Fitzpatrick and Gawn develop.
  3. Will Jack Trengove make it? What are you smoking? ( If you are a lost Port Adelaide supporter, he calls himself Jackson?)
  4. I wanted to put Collingwood's minor premiership on top of the list - until I remembered that you can't fall out of love with something you've always hated. 1. The sight of players running to and from the interchange bench. 2. The increasing tendency of umpires to penalise the bloke going for the ball. 3. Long "half time" waffle sessions during delayed telecasts. With apologies to Lynden Dunn's moustache.
  5. Yeats_08, I guess I took it that you were implying that something about Watts attitude or persona had put him offside with his teammates (.... "there is an issue here"). Keyser Soze seems to have read it that way as well. It seems that was not your intention at all. My apologies. The fact that he waved his arms in frustration at times shows he is hungry for more.He took 8 marks on Sunday ... how many would he have taken if we had honoured his leads?
  6. Yes... all true. I just get frustrated with the number of posters who seem hell bent on finding fault with him. People don't usually criticise loose men when their teammates blaze away at goal without passing it off ....
  7. No he's not. But he is the only player who has had more threads than games played !
  8. He took 8 marks yesterday. How many would he have taken if his teammates hadn't constantly ignored him ? Give the kid a break!!
  9. No...not a good post- just another ( albeit subtle) anti-Watts post. So they don't always see him ... or as a kid he's not always in the right spot... or he is acting as a decoy...? Leave the kid alone - just let him play without his own supporters looking for a problem every time he scratches himself We really should ban any more Watts'threads!
  10. I cannot help but agree - somehow this seems to have been overlooked. To me it has to tarnish his Brownlow - and the 1996 flag
  11. Tend to agree with this. He may be a huge man - but he is at his best on the (long) lead and has a big turning circle. Anyway , nobody has asked the key question.... is he a hard working ,forward thinking, team orientated person?
  12. Any chance of him doing a lap of honour before the Melb v North game ?
  13. Despite his limitations Brad has been a great servant of our club - and deserves every support. But I'm not sure that we should set a precedent by giving a farewell game to players who have played less than 150 games. I recognize that his recent performances at Casey have probably earned him promotion - but if he wasn't the right player after a 10 goal game - then he is not the right player after sharing a 5 goal game with Matthew Bate. I hope his desire to be part of a Casey premiership team prevails - from all points of view.
  14. Yes excellent initiative - because it doesn't just say thank-you it also promotes the heritage of our club to the general community. I would like to see it shown once or twice on free to air.... as part of general promotion to attract new members and sponsors.Let's maximize the return from the investment in this very professional "advertisement" I accept that there will be a point at which the cost is prohibitive - but it would only need to help attract one new sponsor to pay for itself. I'll leave it to the club to do the cost:benefit analysis.
  15. Hang on..... isn't Paul Johnson that Number 11?
  16. Even if this has been properly communicated to Brad and the player group, an Assistant/VFL Coach should not drop it to the media during a routine discussion after an VFL game. Miller's career plans - and his standing in the eyes of other clubs - should be respected. Did Brad ask the club to make it public like this? I doubt it............
  17. 6. Bruce 5. Scully 4. Jurrah 3. McDonald 2. McKenzie 1. Rivers Very disappointing performance. Must beat North on Sunday ( not just for Junior)
  18. James Strauss is such a good kick .... I'd love to see him make the grade. He has struggled all year - and the coach's comments in several VFL Player Reviews have been less than complementary. I note that he has been dropped to Casey 2nds this week. Has the FD decided to re-sign him ? If so why wouldn't they want to give every chance of getting some VFL finals experience? I'm not knocking him by any means. I'm just asking the question? Is he about to be de-listed?

    I'm worried

Sorry ... unnecessarily and inappropriately pessimistic. The club is systematically developing a leadership culture throughout the playing group. We had some of our best wins when Junior was out ........... and Bruce is going nowhere. Green, Moloney and Davey have already stepped up and Grimes has maturity beyond his years. We have Rivers to help direct the defence and Sylvia to help drive the forwards The age/experience balance of our list is just right.
  20. Having previously said that I was a little disappointed that it wasn't announced as a mutual decision ( if not as Junior's decision), I thought I should add that I have to agree with Rhino's sentiments. It is the right time ... and I guess the fact that Junior wanted to continue is probably just a reflection of the never say die attitude that has been his trademark. As pick 70-odd in a rookie draft , he has probably come further than just about anyone in the modern history of the AFL.As much as he might try to deny it, he will surely be remembered as one of the legends of this footy club. I just hope he receives the accolades he deserves from the AFL and the football community as a whole . Well played Junior........
  21. At the very least it is unfortunate that both parties weren't able to at least hold out that it was James'decision. He deserves better than to be remembered as a bloke who was "retired" by his club. If he had continued playing the way he was playing before he got injured, thee is every chance that he may have gone on ... but as things stand it is probably for the best that he finishes up now. The last thing any one (esp James) would want is to have gone on .. only to struggle with fitness and form next year at the expense of a developing youngster. All round I'm sure it is for the best that he finish on high with 251 games . Its just unfortunate that the Club ( and James) didn't say that he had decided that his body had just about got to the end of the line
