  1. All the best CAC, You are to be congratulated for your insightful posts and your willingness to engage with this part of our supporter base. I wish you every success at the tigers. I hope so too, it is the 1 thing I have longed for... a superstar up there with the best of the best, that player that can drag you over the line more often than not in the big games, James Hird, Michael Voss, Roo! I'm not sure sure
  2. Well with Godfrey, TJ and Byron gone, there are 3 spots in the rotation.
  3. Colin Sylvia is a nothing player to be perfectly honest, plays about 8 good quarters a year and IMO should have been traded. Mark my words, you'll all be agreeing with me at seasons end. As for the question of this thread, midfield.
  4. Nasher, people are likely to be emotional over this issue and as with all things, they are entitled to express this emotion and the opinion that goes with it. Some of us are embarrassed that our football club has never been able to produce a champion over the last 25 or so years and we are well within our rights to feel angered at this defection. It is all relative Nash.
  5. Now lets get someone who can find us a real *Star*.
  6. Sam Butler Matt Moody Brad Symes Jed Adcock and now even Jay Nash. They all have a future. You also excluded Amon Buchanon, Sam Fisher, Michael Rischitelli and Michael Pettigrew, ALL who are playing good footy. Pick 21 was a ridiculous price to pay for Ben Holland.
  7. Duncan O'Toole still plays good footy in Tasmania. He was never going to make the grade at AFL, he was a bit of a project from memory, suffered a few wrist injuries and never really looked like it.
  8. You simply don't get it do you pal, my intention was not to blame CAC for the Crawford's, Hodges, et al.... i was point out stars of other teams and bemoaning the fact we simply don't have one. and yes, Fan, CAC shares in the blame here. End of story.
  9. My list was aimed at pointing out that almost every side in the comp has a *star* of the comp. Melbourne and Richmond are the 2 that simply don't. I could have continued to add players like Nick Stevens and Goodes was actually taken at 43, how was he not available to us? I could have added Kane Cornes and the list I could continue on with.
  10. listen up baghdad bob, I made an observation and I could name a raft of other players *missed*. The fact is we have never had a genuine star since Robbie. CAC was at the club 11 years. In my business champ, that is a failure but why let your sycophantic views get in the way right?
  11. I'm not disputing there are more elements than simply recruiting but recruiting is the biggest factor in the process. It wasn't intended to lay blame directly at Craig but his role is recruitment and as such he shares the lions share of the blame.
  12. It definately goes hand in hand, no doubt but in saying that, look at some other clubs who have superstars, I wouldn't say they are the best at developing players, the Western Bulldogs are a prime example. I'm not sitting here slagging CAC off but I don't think he is the recruiting genius of the AFL. He is good but there is always room for improvement.
  13. Simplistic, definately. Misguided, hardly. Having a superstar in your side does more for your club than purely playing well. It gets the cash reigsters ticking over, it brings memberships, increases merchandising sales, has a profound effect on junior players, increases sponsorship. The only misguided comment here is your last post, champ.
  14. I'd like to add a little perspective to this thread. Yes Craig has made some fairly handy late draft decisions. yes Craig has probably got it right over the last couple of years, BUT 11 years in charge of recruiting and still Melbourne are absolutely starless. We have craved a superstar since the retirement of Robbie and to be perfectly honest, The Ox aside, there hasn't been anyone go close. Col, Brock, and Jones have shown potential but alas, I don't actually see superstar quality in any of them, lets look at this: Brisbane have had so many stars I couldn't name them all Collingwood even had Buckley and Pendlebury is going to be very very special The Dogs, Brad Johnson, Scott West....... West Coast, I don't have time to name them all Adelaide, Roo, McLeod\ Sydney, Up until recently Bazza H, Adam Goodes Port Adelaide, Shaun Burgoyne an arguement could be made to ad Chad to this status Freo - Pav Essendon - Have had plenty, Hird, Lloyd, Fletcher Geelong - Scarlett, Ablett, Bartel, now Selwood Carlton - Fev is a superstar, regardless of his idiot behaviour, add to that Murphy St Kilda - Dal Santo, Reiwoldt, Harvey Kangaroos - Brent Harvey Hawthorn - Crawford, Hodge, Buddy, a history of having champions Richmond and Us are about the only ones not to. I can't say I'm upset, maybe it is time for a new recruitment strategy.
  15. Welcome to the club Fanta Pants!
  16. Rusling, Reid and Pick 14. They could trade Reid for a top 10 pick easily IMO.
  17. I've of the opinion that BT knows but due to his close ties with Collingwood and Eddie he has been ordered to silence. As I mentioned the mail I was given Saturday suggested Judd made his decision Friday and Collingwood had suggested they wait until Monday out of respect for the celebrations of Len Thompson's life. BT is and always has been a tool but he generally is a well informed tool when it comes to Collingwood.
  18. I've attended several functions during grand final week and all oil indicates to me that Collingwood have all the appeal. Started with Robbo, Tim Lane and Wallet, the general thoughts of that conversation were that Judd was impressed with the facilities, the medical staff and the funding to the footy department in general. I've also had conversations with John Barnes who was clear that he felt Essendon were not a chance in hell. Apparently the meeting wasn't overly impressive and they didn't get a good vibe from Judd once it was completed. John Barnes is still surprisingly very well connected at Essendon. There are a few others and 1 in particular that I had yesterday morning that I would almost put my left nut on. It ruined my day at 9am and I drank like a fish for the remainder of the day and boy... am I paying for it now.
  19. Exactly, I'd be stoked if my source was wrong but sadly I'm not so sure it is. I just hope Judd is prepared to be the most hated man in football.
  20. I've been crying since 9am yesterday morning. I figure by the time he makes his announcement I would have moved on.
  21. Not a snow balls in hell that Miller would land us a player like Buchanan. I don't thinki TJ would even command pick 11 on his own.
  22. It is about showing some respect for the club you are dealing with, something that Collingwood have not been good at in the past. I think the key to getting this thing done for Collingwood would be to see what expectations WC have early and work from there, no point putting in ambit deal after deal.
  23. Care to lay a hundy against me champ? Judd to the pies is my mail.....
  24. Sorry H, Melbourne closed at $1.70 but did not close favourites and the tool at sportsbet failed to let me know who did.
