  1. Listed his nickname as “Breddie”. Personally I think he was one that got away.
  2. I’ve got to admit I don’t completely hate the idea. We played most of this season without a key forward, although it was due to Weideman and McDonald both being writeoffs. He’s limited for sure and capable of being completely hopeless, but he can take a grab and could be cheap insurance. If he ended up playing the whole season at Casey then so be it. Could pretty easily be talked out if it though.
  3. Oh man. I feel like I’m reliving the Demonland glory days. It was beautiful how passionate people got about recruiting players that ultimately never even got close to making it.
  4. I know I’m a broken record on this, but it still always surprises me when people care about how much players are paid. When a) we have no idea how we’re positioned salary cap wise and b) we can only ever guess how much they’re actually paid anyway, it makes the whole conversation meaningless.
  5. Isn’t it when you sit upright in your chair and have the desk at the correct height?
  6. For a club that has been very strong, Hawthorn definitely have a weird history of taking on Melbourne NQRs in this century. Paul Johnson is another and they nearly gave us Brad Sewell for Ryan Ferguson. Their interest in Frost is probably a good sign!
  7. How many years? You don’t need a lot of exposure to toxic personalities in the home environment for it to have a very detrimental effect.
  8. Why does everyone want to palm their garbage off to Tasmania? What have we done to deserve that?
  9. Fair enough. Probably just means I should go back to my usual MO of ignoring the umpiring.
  10. I only saw Q2 and Q3 of last night’s match, but from what I saw it was also #freekickgws
  11. Other than you saying the E swear word in a sentence with Bulldogs and Lions, I agree. I really hoped Brisbane would give it a shake, but oh well. It’s physically impossible for me to go for Geelong and Collingwood, and going for GWS feels too empty, so I suppose Richmond it is.
  12. Thanks for posting that. In a year that was bitterly disappointing from start to finish, it is bloody nice to invoke memories of an epic moment. I hit the roof in a good way at that goal - me and every other MFC fan I guess. Hadn’t heard that call of it though. It’s a ripper. My memory is BT calling 40, 30, 20, 15...
  13. That’s what we were told. I don’t think it was BS (which implies they lied, has an implication of malice to it), just that they got it wrong. Diagnoses like this are all an on balance of probabilities type thing rather than definitive, so it can happen.
  14. I felt the same way. I rarely feel sorrow over the death of strangers but I felt a serious blow over this. Grief is a strange beast.
  15. Very sad. My thoughts are with his family.
  16. He's definitely been the most loved 2 game player this forum has ever seen, which is mostly because of the infectious enthusiasm of his brother! Thanks @Drunkn167for giving us the personal connection, it has added a human element to all of it that I think is easy to forget exists most of the time. It's a hard gig, AFL. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for a young bloke to know that he's been *this close* for a couple of years but just couldn't quite crack it. Rest assured though, Dec played two more AFL games than most of us, which think is a very good achievement. I hope life after AFL footy is kind. Cheers mate.
  17. Had a disappointing last couple of seasons but Garlett added some excitement to the side over the years. At his best, he was a seriously dangerous small forward. Came basically for free too, with the added bonus of enabling us to laugh at Carlton. All the best Jeff. Thanks to Keilty for the services as well.
  18. Talk about moving the goalposts. The too early calls were clear in the context of match fitness and form, not further injury 3 weeks after he returned. You can’t start saying I told you so now. Anyway I’ve stayed off here for the last week because I knew it would be full of catastrophising, point scoring and stretchings of the truth. I log on and this is the first post I see. It used to be that I felt better after reading Demonland when the team was shit, now it just makes me even angrier than the season has, and the season has made me plenty angry. Think I’ll keep laying low.
  19. Yes, they’re borderline AFL - that’s what borderline AFL players are like. You’d always prefer they be held out by better players, but when picked they deserve to be given benefit of the doubt, at least until the game has actually been played, rather than mercilessly bagged by the “supporters” on Thursday night when they get named.
  20. Lockhart seems to give at least one HTB away a game. Not sure if it’s not being used to the speed still, or that he hasn’t learned to that seizure looking move players are supposed to do to make it look like they’re trying to dispose of it or what. Whatever it is, it’s bloody annoying and needs ironing out ASAP.
  21. Moderator warning for saying the p word after a loss. ?
