  1. It must have been in the five pages I skipped.
  2. I go away from this thread for a few hours, and come back to the last page, which is about six pages further on from where I left off. The last page is the same as the last page I read six pages ago. Groundhog Day.
  3. Anyone can make up "a source at the club", a "mate who spoke with the player", a "cousin of his manager" or whatever.
  4. I didn't say I'd want to give away Hogan for nothing.
  5. Too many people see trading like swapcards, with an excessive emphasis on relative value. I'd prefer to see the whole trade period as a holistic exercise. If we have value that we can trade (like a forward or an inside mid) in order to get better improvements to our list where we are lacking (e.g. quality KPB, quality outside, backup ruck) then I don't particularly care what picks are given for an individual. In the end, it will be immaterial if Hogan goes for less than, or something different to, two early first round picks. The main criteria is that the list is improved and we are closer to a premiership.
  6. Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
  7. "if the Dockers are successful ... "
  8. It says a lot for our depth now that we can leave a player like Fritsch out. How's that first round pick for Lever looking? With free agency compensation and priority picks, we might be giving up pick 20.
  9. It helps to have some players who can speak lucidly, rationally and with knowledge of the game, to be a good front for the club. It's not the prime selection criteria for talent (Dustin Martin being the prime example), but it's not totally irrelevant. Imagine if the only thing every player on your team could do was grunt and answer in one syllable.
  10. What's wrong with someone who speaks well and plays football well? Not like they're mutually exclusive.
  11. I didn't realise a TV knows where the signal comes from when someone watches it. So, how many people watch an AFL game on Foxtel? Do you know? What about all the people who might watch it on AFL Live (like me)? Or who stream it otherwise on an internet channel? What about everyone who watches Foxtel in pubs and clubs? You need to update your idea of "television" in terms of exposure.
  12. Last time I saw, Foxtel was TV.
  13. Oh FCS, I've walked the Larapinta trail in July and the weather is very pleasant. Not much different to physical activity anywhere else.
  14. When? We won the game in Alice Springs easily. We won the game in Darwin easily. We won the game after Darwin easily, running away with it in the second half. It's a long bow to suggest Darwin will still be a factor this weekend. Where's the massive fitness advantage to the opposition?
  15. I don't see why that means we shouldn't be.
  16. Gee, there's a lot of huffing and puffing on here about what should be a basic recovery for professional athletes. We won the week after Darwin and surged in the second half of the game, didn't we? Must have been really tired from the tropical exertion. Blame Hibberd's quad, done at training this morning, on a game two weeks ago? Or a toe injury to Stretch that is probably not even related to heat and humidity? Or Viney's foot condition that was pre-existing? Correlation does not equal causation, and in these instances there's probably not even a correlation. What about all the people in the NT who love going to the games? The TV exposure we get, not just during the game? The great financial benefits? Oh, that's right, just abandon the concept and leave it to "someone else".
  17. If he went to Fremantle and kicked 3 goals a game, it would be half their score. ?
  18. We also need to accumulate reasons for him to come, accumulated enough salary cap, and accumulate our support.
  19. Gaff can accumulate 35 possessions in my side any time he likes.
  20. I don't actually watch Masterchef and I don't like a lot of reality TV. But that's not the point. Nor is it the point that jackaub and Rocky thinks it's "crap". The point is that nearly a million people don't think it's "crap". The Masterchef episode was filmed off-season, and it's a comparatively small effort on the club's and the player's part to get massive exposure on prime time television. It shows there's more to the club than just playing football, and there's a lot of great footage of our magnificent home ground. I have presumed your view of the club from the massive number of critical posts you make. Maybe you could prove me wrong by being more positive more often as we rise up the ladder. I understand that might be hard.
  21. The first promo shot with the AHG top was filmed last year, at the Masterchef lunch all the players had iSelect tops and it was filmed earlier this year.
  22. I thought when I saw this thread that the one person who would object to it was you. You never have a single positive thing to say about the club. Do you have any idea what an hour's prime time exposure on one of Australia's most popular television shows is worth? My son's restaurant has Masterchef film there every second year. They did it again earlier in the year. They will literally get thousands of calls in the week after it is aired.
  23. All I know is that at the moment, I wouldn't want Petracca to be kicking for goal after the siren to win a grand final. It would only be marginally less nerve-wracking than Max.
  24. Olivinaccashaw! By then Dangerwoodlett will be long gone.
  25. "Charlie out of the spa and ready to go" (MFC website). Is that the worst pun of all time?
