Footy is a cut throat enviroment - there aren't too many fairy tales out there (i guess again that is what makes Big Jimma such a special story) I agree that players should be treated with respect - but unfortunately on field is as much of a business as the off field funding By the way Powell choose to leave for more money!

Well said Buck_N Its a new era at demonland - if we want to be sucessful as a club we need everyone pulling in the same direction - no passangers Thanks Brett - much appreciated what you did for this club and all the best for the future! This club is going in a new direction - GO DEES

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON

It takes a mixture of strong recruting and strong drafting and development to make a good team.... It takes players and coaches who want to win at all costs to make a good team a great team -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON
Cheap Seats replied to angrydee's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree we need to work on devlopment and recruiting - (which is why i believe Neeld, Mission and Craig were brough on board) I am not addressing the contract situation of Dom (i ahve no idea) But I do like the idea of recruiting talented youngsters to the club that want to play for a develop something special with this group. Eg: burgoyne and Gunston at the Hawks -The hawks didn't say no when these guys wanted to move - I don't think the MFC should snub an oppotunity In saying that I have no idea if this rumor has any validity or not but I say go get him if he wants to come to the MFC -
Wow, he is a handy player when fit..... I am expecting some suprises in who we target this year!!! Looking forward to it

The worst season of footy in my life, 2012
Cheap Seats replied to tonatopia's topic in Melbourne Demons
A very disappointing season for us Demon faithful......... no argument there!! Bring on 2013.... I may be a glutton for punishment but I am jumping back on board!! -
It is definetly a puff peice but I am happy to get a small insight in to the club at what they are trying to acheive. Offseason 2012/13 is going to be very important.....

I don't disagree with what you are saying New Age hipster, Did we do the wrong thing??????????? That is a very hard to answer..... We approached his management and were rejected - is that not due dilligance?? The problem with the R Lyon situation is that he went behind everyones back to get the Freo job. He didn't even tell his manager.... He told his manager he inteded to stay at St Kilda... not sure what else the MFC could do as it was R Lyon who approached Freo. I personally don't feel R Lyon wouldn't have come to our club anyway - he was chasing $$$ and Freo offered him $ and a decent list.
-
I've been told he approached Freo and it had a lot to do with cash which Freo have. People on here were balking at the money Cloke is being offered - i have heard Freo offered him similar money to coach. Thats all i really know and care to elborate on.. I don't disagree the MFC could have chased harder if they were genuinely interested.... I do not agree the MFC were careless in respect to R Lyon. I also don't think R lyon would have come to the MFC due to the list and he wouldn't have gotten the money he was after

I am not going to waste too much time on this...... http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/expert-opinion/did-ross-lyon-reall-decieve-st-kilda/story-fn6cisdj-1226142920349 this article dosen't answer all the questions but hopefully it answers why he was not approached by the MFC The bloke was contracted until the end of 2012 - why would the MFC approach him??? Fact is R Lyon went behind St Kilda's and his managements back and negotiated a contact with Freo - why Fremantle I can't answer that
-
I don't understand your vague refrence.... And I'd like to know how to process was flawed??? - please elborate rather then making smart ass remarks. Any chance of stating some facts?
-
Sadly I have to agree with TimD as well...... Off field I am keen to see how McLardy and co deal with keeping/retaining and attarackting sponsors and new opportunities and revenue coming in to keep funding the Footy Department so we have a chance of being a contender again....
-
I also think a few players have been shocked at their lack of demand at certian asking prices....... It will be an interesting off season
-
I agree and I hope and prey that that is why Neeld, Craig and Mission were employed - I hope it has been addressed This is why i disagree with all the blind hate - we need to focus our fury on something but I am hoping the coaching/conditioning has been addressed
-
Can we set the record straight now that NO ONE knew Ross Lyon was moving from St Kilda His management didn't know (Craig Kelly at ESP) St Kilda didn't know the media didn't know the MFC didnt know The only people that knew were Fremantle and Ross Lyon. Any discussion about Due dilligance and Ross Lyon is absolute [censored] and people should do thier own due dilligance
-
I also know that some MFC players haven't raised any interest from other clubs............... but if that is genuinely true it is something the MFC needs to be held accountable. And reasons why should be aired not just wrist slashing assumptions
-
No doubt this has been a rubbish season. I personally dont' think there is anything you can take from the last few matches of the year - as some teams are playing for something (finals) and others are just looking forward to the holidays. But I don't think it's ok to knock an opinion because some people soely want to look at results. There is nothing wrong with analysing the team structures and the team adressing the fundementals and not soely focusing on the final reslut, when everyone who wasn't a one eyed dee could see the FREo v MELB result was already sorted Posters here will say what is the point... need to win games blah blah no [censored]........ but after such a [censored] year you need to focus on something and when you follow a crap in-experienced team as we are do you need to focus on little wins otherwise you will become sad asses who all they want to do is drown everyone in their negativity..... There is nothing wrong with this thread discussing about structure and fundemental improvements from the year. I think most people on here know the team needs to get fitter, stronger and inject some more talent and dedication to the list We all know the players/team have preformed below expectations this year, We all know there is questions on their commitment and lack of experienced leaders We all know the leaders we have are not up to standard which is why there is a 19 yo and a 21 y/o captians We all know they're not fit enough which is why Craig and Mission were employed We all know skillsand attitudes from some are poor which is why the list needs to be turned over We hopefully realise there is 10 - 15 young blokes this club wants to build around but unfortunatly they're all young blokes and need time, coaching, and experience - we need to accept that we only little wins at the moment....
-
Just because we were flogged doesn't mean there were no positivies - We all know we're crap - at least this bloke is trying to debate some positive development.... Neeld has said he won't deviate from the process - and as much as that sucks in the short term it is worth looking at these positives otherwise we will all end up old grumpy and unhappy watching this side!!!
-
I agree with what you say NSC - but lets not kill all the optimism around here. Pitmaster isn't too far off with his points - they are hard to be seen as positives when we are as you point out a 10 goals a game behind most teams Thank god there was some positivity last night or what is there to look forward to?
-
I am not going to argue we aren't crap - because we have been this year But lets be a little realitics as pitmaster says - the year has been over for a long time for the Dees. Freo had something to play for (finals ambition) and unleass we were playing the Dogs, Port, GC, GWS or any other club in our position we were always going to struggle in the last games of the year. We are not the only team to be touched up by Failo this year
-
I've liked the argument - but fact is the only changes that should be made at the moment are players. (Which is an accepted practice done every year) Should Neeld not have a chance to mould the list in to a group that wants to play for him??? Or is it your plain dislike for him that demands he should go??
-
The boys deserve a break - I have no problems with the 'Mad Monday' tradition. I hope they come back fresh ready to put in 100% to Neeld & Missions demands
