  1. Cyril was a top 10 prospect who slid due to interviewing poorly (pretended to be asleep in meeting with Port so he wouldn’t have to move to Adelaide). They’re not comparable players on output thus far. Hopefully Kozzie proves worthy of the first round selection and tears it up in red n blue.
  2. Going by data, it shows Jackson at 4 was actually pretty bang on, but Kozzie was a big reach (rated 42nd best player). Rivers was around the mark, and I reckon had he not missed pre-season with glandular fever he would've been a first rounder. Quietly confident we've struck gold there.
  3. Hope Pickett lines him up and knocks him into next year. Soft and overrated. He's a master thief as well! $750,000?!! Time to close this thread unless it's to add a clip of a Melbourne player lining him up ?
  4. Sokol is 24 and kicked 60 goals 35 behinds in the WAFL this year, including 6.3 in the grand final. Brown is 30 next season and just had his best year kicking 21.13 in a team where he was the main target with Daniher out and Hooker swinging back and forward. We'd get 1-2 years out of Brown at most, and the best we could hope for is probably 25 goals or so. We'd get 5+ years out of Sokol and potentially far more goals and flexibility than Brown. I'd be taking Sokol ahead of Brown.
  5. Upgrade Lockhart and rookie Bennell and Sokol would be ideal IMO.
  6. Can we delist a rookie or something to pick him up? He’s better than 5-6 on our list already IMO.
  7. I’m excited by his potential as well, but saying he’ll be better than Enright is a ridiculous call. Enright was one of the best HBFs of the game and a future hall of famer.
  8. B+ for Draft. I think there were better players available with our top two picks, but not unhappy with how it turned out. Rivers with our second rounder was a steal and he’ll be good long term back flanker. All players drafted have tools that give them a higher than average chance of making it, so decent draft period. Trade/Free Agency period I’d give a B. We missed out on our main target Jamie Elliott who would’ve come free of trading. We sold the farm pick-wise to get Pickett. We gained Langdon, who I’m a big wrap for, but needlessly swapped second rounder as part of that trade. Tomlinson in is average. Bennell as potential rookie is a winner, as he’s obviously a huge talent and high risk high reward. The ins are decent, but like previous Mahoney years I think we overpaid. Overall I’d give us a B+.
  9. Third-fourth round. He’s a speculative prospect.
  10. Great get for us and will be nice to see a Rivers across halfback in red and blue again. He’s a good size to mop up in the back half and has a neat kick on him. Welcome to the club Trent!
  11. A bid for Mead may knock us back a pick, but yeah we'll wind up around there. Got no currency to trade up either as we used it all up to get pick 8 already. Still plenty of decent prospects available so hoping we land one of Roberston, Bianco, Rivers, Sharp, Taylor, Williams.
  12. I heard that interview too and was a bit taken a back that he seemed to open about not taking Green. It does make complete sense what he said in terms of strategy though. Why bid on him if you wouldn't be happy to take him! But that means the clubs rated Green at pick 10 in this draft, which doesn't seems correct on what everyone has seen from him this year. Oh well, it's done now. Jackson is clearly an athletic freak and I hope he becomes a superstar for us!
  13. So clubs just give them a free ride instead of bidding and driving them into a large points deficit? It’s weak. Sydney is the latest a bid should have come for him.
  14. It’s baffling that Green slid to 10 when he’s a clear top 5 pick. GWS get another freebie!
  15. I’d love Robertson, but doubt he’ll slide to us. Would love one of Rivers or Bianco. Rivers is solid all round in defence. Bianco is a leader, finds a lot of ball, has good kicking skills and could become a smallish defender or midfielder.
  16. Reportedly poor attitude and doesn’t follow coaches orders/team gameplan. Would be drafted much higher if he did as he’s clearly more capable than most. I wouldn’t be disappointed at drafting him at 30!
  17. Yeah my source was pretty bang on. Much to my dismay I knew about Jackson and Pickett about a week ago. I’ll see if I can find out anything about our early pick tonight.
  18. I’m a Young fan and was disappointed we didn’t take him at 3, but it’s done now. Fremantle were the big winners last night. Young, Serong and Henry is about the best collection of prospects you could ever hope to draft at those picks. They’re building a superb list now. Very jealous.
  19. Oh [censored] Bianco, Worrel and Sharp all still there too! That’s Robertson, Taylor, Gould, Rivers, Sharp, Bianco, Worrel, Schoenberg, Williams all still there. Pick 28 could turn out to be a ripper for us! Exciting!!!
  20. One of Robertson, Taylor, Rivers, Schoenberg, Gould, Williams would be great. That’s order of preference also I reckon.
  21. Will be a steal to whoever gets him. He’s a great young leader and good footballer to boot. I hope we can land him!
