Our pick #9 will also be quite dependent upon who the Saints will be possibly looking to take with draft picks #7 and #8.
-
I dunno how a deal gets done. But if GWS get Jake Stringer than it may still be a possibility?
-
I expect to see the Home Base being built at Caulfield Racecourse to be the number #1 priority on the next Strategic Plan for the Melbourne Football Club. Hopefully, the newest Strategic Plan will be presented at the next Melbourne Football Club AGM.

Dr Don Duffy was a shocker as President of the Melbourne Football Club. We had a prime opportunity in the 1960s and 1970s to get a Home Base built. We failed at that. We are now still feeling the long-lasting effects of Dr Don Duffy's ineptitude. Let's hope we can finally get this huge issue fixed and the Home Base built at the Caulfield Racecourse. I don't care who is President or CEO is either. As long as this monumental task of a Home Base is achieved in our lifetimes.

It's not the trading for picks or drafting of talented young players we have a problem with. It's the trading in of spuds since 2021 like Josh Schache, Lachie Hunter, Jack Billings and Shane McAdam. Anyway, perhaps I am too harsh and I'll be proven wrong.

I am keen to discuss who the Demons may choose with pick #9 in the 2024 AFL National Draft now that we have successfully obtained it from Essendon. I am pleased Essendon saw this as a "win-win" deal so they have the Draft points to obtain Isaac Kako from their NGA. I highly doubt this deal would of been as straightforward under Adrian Dodoro. With pick #9 in this Draft. I like the look of the following players. ● Xavier Lindsay - Who is an elite decision maker and excellent kick ● Josh Smillie - Who could be the next Marcus Bontempelli as a midfielder who is 194cm ● Harry Armstrong - A big powerful tall forward who is 195cm and is a strong mark and an accurate kick for goal ● Tobie Travaglia - who is a dashing half back flanker who could be the delayed suitable replacement for Michael Hibberd Anyway, we will just wait and see who Jason Taylor will now choose with pick #9.

Picks #5 and #9 now belong to the Demons! Excellent news!
-
I thought that this would happen. Glad to be right for a change! The Demons having picks #5 and pick #9 is fantastic.
-
Would rather the Demons get Essendon's pick #9 but Gold Coast's pick #13 is appealing too. Wish there was a way the Demons got both?! But Either of them would definitely be pleasing to go with our pick #6 in this year's draft.

Melbourne interim President Brad Green lays down the ultimate smack down on Social Media! Clayton Oliver will remain a Demon!
-
Apparently former Demons Vice President Geoff Freeman wants to take over the board? Hopefully he can work with Brad Green (and possibly Peter Lawrence) so we can have some semblance of unity and get the Melbourne Football Club back on track. Here is the article in the Herald Sun: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjf-di87oWJAxXJi2MGHUILMRAQFnoECBcQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.heraldsun.com.au%2Fsport%2Fafl%2Fteams%2Fmelbourne%2Fmelbourne-demons-crisis-deepens-with-former-vicepresident-geoff-freeman-declaring-interest-in-taking-over-club-board%2Fnews-story%2F6dc39fa6d3fbb1a348f5eed9f0f0a841&usg=AOvVaw02f9a0KZXE0kgQpU5tOJtb&opi=89978449 Unfortunately I cannot read it due to the pay wall.
-
He probably would. But he's gone now, thankfully! I know some Essendon supporters loved Dodo but others hated him and blame him for some of their woes. Hopefully we can reach a fair deal with Essendon to obtain pick #9 in the draft. We should definitely show interest in Isaac Kako if St. Kilda are doing so as well. Just to keep Essendon worried that they may lose him.
-
I am starting to get sick of these rumours. I am backing in what our interim President Brad Green has said. Clayton Oliver is contracted and will be staying. It is the CEO Gary Pert that needs to be sacked for all of this.
-
Is Adrian Dodoro gone?! Thank goodness! Essendon might actually be reasonable to trade with now.

2024 Player Reviews: #21 Matthew Jefferson
Supreme_Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Time for Jeffo to step up and put on his big boy pants. Hope he spends the Pre-Season putting on lots of muscle! 2025 will be a huge season for him! The ball is in his court to make it as an AFL player.... -
2024 Player Reviews: #23 Shane McAdam
Supreme_Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Shane McAdam's season actually made me quite angry. He was horrible! Unfit, slow, lazy, could barely kick 30 metres, kept trying unrealistic attempts to mark the ball. Overall, a massive disappointment. Hope he has a big Pre-Season and comes back fit and strong. Otherwise, it's another trade fail from the Demons list management team. Pull your finger out Shane! -
I suspect the Demons are all over this. We would definitely be keen to do a deal with Essendon to obtain pick #9 from them. I think our future 1st round pick and an assorted selection of other picks in later rounds gets it done. Essendon get Isaac Kako and two 1st round picks in 2025 (the Demons and their own) and we get their pick #9 (as well as our own pick #6). It is a win-win situation, but it all depends on if Essendon think that's fair or not.

Interesting.... I wonder what Brisbane would want for him? Here is the Rookie Me profile of Harry Sharp from a few years ago:https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/harry-sharp/

We might be more likely to get Wade Derksen if Jake Stringer leaves Essendon and goes to GWS. But we shall have to wait and see what happens...

Interesting to see Shane Woewodin has given his 2 cents worth about the Melbourne Football Club. I understand he is our most recent Brownlow Medallist (2000) but besides his son being at the Club, I don't know how heavily he is involved at the Club. I think his words have been blown way out of proportion saying the Melbourne Football Club is "a bit of a mess" but we do need to fix things. Not sure how helpful the comments are for his son, Taj Woewodin. He would want the Club to be stable. Personally, I really hope Taj Woewodin gets super fit and strong over the Pre-Season would love to see him have a significant impact at the Demons in 2025! I do agree that there needs to be open lines of communication at the Demons though. Transparency is key. We will see what happens after the 2 independent reviews I guess? Anyway, here is the article from SEN radio for those who may wish to read it: https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/10/09/a-bit-of-a-mess-former-star-and-father-of-current-dee-makes-melbourne/

A ranking of 6th is pretty good. Being called the Melbourne Football Club makes a big difference. Otherwise, we would of gone the way of South Melbourne (Sydney) and Fitzroy (Brisbane) and ended up the Gold Coast, or Hobart or Canberra or Darwin Demons years ago. Now we just gotta keep winning more Premierships and get that Home Base built at the Caulfield Racecourse!
-
Damn! Cal Twomey must be reading my posts on Demonland! 🤣 But in all seriousness, it is a plausible option IF Melbourne and Essendon can arrange a deal. Essendon supporters would be wanting to use pick 9# and also get Isaac Kako. But that may be too risky and I am certain they don't want to lose him like we lost Mac Andrew in 2021. Trading for points for Isaac Kako makes sense. But I don't think Adrian Dodoro will want to play ball. I just want the Demons to have picks 5# and 9# that would be fantastic!
-
True, that's possible. But very complicated. I doubt St. Kilda will give up picks 7# and 8# in the draft though.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Supreme_Demon replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Here's another article showing the latest AFL draft rankings: https://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/id/41685320/afl-draft-power-rankings-october-2024-jagga-smith-levi-ashcroft-sid-draper-sam-lalor -
Fingers crossed he comes to the Demons! 🤞 It would definitely be quite an exciting challenge for him. Can he work with CEO Gary Pert? Anyway, we shall wait and see....?
