Frawley is a huge loss, McKenzie not far behind (how much do we need tacklers?) and then Morton as well... Could be worse I guess, but I think only Jamar, and maybe Green would be names I'd want to see on this list LESS.
-
Thats only half the story. The whole TV audience often shares the games with you... Those seats are mint.
-
I was sitting next to him at the Roos/Dees game where each of the finalists had a guy playing... His squirming was more entertaining than the game...
-
The Sandi post you made earlier sums it up. YOu could pick Selwood (I had my eye on him) who is very close to getting you frees for, along with touches galore... You could pick Goddard who will give you lots of kicks, marks and healthy amount of goals. but when ONE player can sew up a category as reliably as Sandi does, he picks himself. You still have Anthony? As a general rule... he is.
-
If we let go of Bate, which could well happen, he'd end up at another club easily. Could be win win by year's end?
-
Anybody need a spare centre... let me know... I have plenty (don't we all?) and I need forward badly.
-
Your forwards will kill me round 1... As described above, the classic mode works better.
-
I did it the other way. The stars of the comp were what won us games last season... I thought I'd go for best available for the first 6-8, then after that draft for whatever I was missing until I had enough of each type, plus a couple of rucks.
-
Oh man. The autopicks have been screwing me. I have 2 forwards, 1 back and 1 ruck... trading anyone?
-
I took Mummy last season as a reserve player, after he didn't even get drafted. He ended up outranking Jamar, and was probably the second best ruckman/forward as opposed to forward/ruckman (eg Ryder/Kreuzer). Jamar will get you your 30 hitouts and will win it for you assuming no-one else has a Cross (always got 6 extra hitots as third man up) or a second ruckman... but he didn't give you anything else most of the time. Aaaah Ufooty... He was more or less an auto pick (I had them ranked only for the first 100 or so and for the most part it was as Ufooty ranked them)... but yeah, pleased with that!!!

:D Ok guys. have fun I'm out.
-
Yeah. The fifteen minute draft time is going to be like the out of bounds rule in week one of the NAB cup. Scrap that for next time. The first demon to go!!! Green to Old Man Rivers. Astute pick. Lots of touches, plenty of goals and marks... and super accuracy,
-
WHAT THE HELL?!!!! SHENANIGANS!!!! I think you should trade him to snomed... just so it's all above board. :D
-
Mik can you sneak into peoples accounts to pick their "next" autio selections for them if they don't turn up?
-
:D Boom. Now he just has to stay fit. He was a ripper for our league last year. He was never going past pick 3 or 4.

Don't listen to everyone old. I think this is the forum for off-centre ideas, and this one has it's good points. The worst I've seen Watts play is inside fifty. When he's playing up the ground, and particularly when delivering inside fifty or switching up play he's created a number of goals. Probably his best feature at this stage is his field kicking... At times it's extraordinary. So as far as shifting him outside forward fifty, perhaps far enough out to be a rebounding player... I'm all for giving it a try. If nothing else it gives Bailey something else to try when all else fails. We always hear that coaches like to have options and flexibility when it comes to a player. We see regularly how well it works with Green and Davey. But the Frawley to attack option just doesn't fly for mine. Even if he did bustle his way to a few hard earned body-on-body marks... he doesn't fly, and he isn't the kind of guy that can kick opportunistic goals. I can't see him shaping a kick from the boundary. In the end, that's one of the main things you recruit a KP forward for, kicking accuracy. And it's one of the main reasons you hide your poor kicks in defence, because the ground is wider and you have more margin for error. I like the Watts suggestion... in fact I'd go as far as to say that he will go back at some point in his career to change things up.... Almost Goddard style... but Frawley out of defence would be a mistake. He's a simply sensational defender.

This was the thing that's stuck with me since Thursday. Pretty much the ONLY thing actually. I know it was NAB cup, and no-one cared... but some of our body-on-body stuff was actually WORSE than last season, if you could believe that. Watts, Bennell, and many of the younger kids don't have "it" when it comes to tackling. Sylvia, Jetta, McKenzie... these guys have that killer instinct. As you could always see with JMac... You have to WANT to tackle. It's not enough to just put your body close enough to the guy and hang off him. You have to clamp down. It's a real worry, especially at this stage. Maybe a big focus has been put on gameplan and skills over the off season... but the hardness factor is going to be as big a thing for us as anything. I'm juuust a touch nervous about the softness creeping into the side. Not panicking yet... but I'm concerned.
-
Bring on the blood coloured red. I like it.
-
For our game plan? Yes. But it depends on the ground. You'd think a tip like Etihad would suit them... but like the rest of the side... they're just lost. Both guys don't have an extra string to their bow... except maybe Jones as a tagger. That's what hurts them, more than the lack of pace.
-
Ok. And coming back to the real world, all will play... and a couple of them will play the majority. Not necessarily applauding that idea though of course... Shocking. Not an Etihad player. Bottom line. Love watching the NAB cup, but don't care that much about the result. All I could think was that this side can't play Etihad yet. And that's something I can live with PROVIDED we can call the G our fortress this year. Winning against average sides at Etihad is something we'll do in the coming years when we look for that one or two extra wins that get us to the top 4. Individual players... meh... I don't reckon they turned up. They SAY we're trying, but then most of the time they do. I'd be VERY Surprised to see that effort come Queens Birthday, put it that way. Humdrum day.... no fun for us.... but I'm not slitting my wrists just yet.
-
Welcome back STMJ... Been a while. I never thought I'd say this... but you've been missed. Particularly by the Morton fans. I might leave your topic to others... Except to say, you're right. Bennell isn't much chop yet going the other way. Though I'd like to see him find a place somewhere, as his pace could be lethal one day. I'm definitely in the "is he or isn't he soft?" bandwagon though. Garland's kicking is ok. Certainly deserves a pass for mine... though the others? I think you're pretty much right.
-
Game over man, game over!!! Tough to listen to. But we just plain didn't want it. The Etihad curse continues... Plenty to like. More games into the kids. Trengove, Grimes, Sylvia, Jamar... some from the old, some from the new. Bombers wanted it more, and had it all worked out more too. Sucks for us, but not the end of the world. Davey the only injury worry?
-
I was thinking that. Even if by some miracle we won, we're not winning next week. No Jamar, no demons... This will be his second season as our most important player. That's ok though. If you're going to play Martin and Spencer I'd rather they did it now than in the real season. Oh well. One more month of boredom.
-
Maric!!!!! That's what he was recruited for.
-
Yup. We may well run it out better, but we've been the lesser side.
