THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Freo need an injection of talent... honestly, Hird should never be allowed any form of accreditation ever again, until he takes responsibility for what he did.

Melbourne at the tribunal/MRP 2018
Perhaps it was a closed fist. Christian sis say he was going to come down hard on any punching, including to the body. Open hand, next time. Weak as pizz, honestly. Glad they posted it, coz I missed it entirely!

Melbourne at the tribunal/MRP 2018
Oliver accepted a $1500 penalty for something that happened with Jacobs. I didn't see it - anyone know? ps - should have been given a bonus of $1500....

What the Fritsch
Really pleased he did well. Playing well against that rabble perhaps is not an indicator for selection. Iâm sure the coaching team have a number of things they want to see, and need to see in context of better opposition for him to make it. Hannan may still be in front of him re pressure and tackling, but he looks like a great addition to the squad.

What would you pay more money for to help the MFC further stabilize?
Would I pay more money to stabilise the club? I think this is the wrong question. I think the question should be "If the Demons presented a cogent future vision of the club, would I pay to buy in?". I watched Richmond sell a shed load of absolute crap merchandise. I saw their fans dancing on wheelie bins in Swan St. We have no natural home for us to celebrate our flag, for our fans to race in and buy the merchandise. Dogs, Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond, Essendon and Geelong all do, even hawks have Waverly. Where do we have?? Don't tell me Casey Fields, or I will spew. If we had a home and a presence, we could build out a brand that resonated in the community. This would create a footprint on which to build something special. Add to that on field success (or, at worst, a reduction in the onfield vomit of most of the last decade) and the club would stabilise itself. A proper base, a proper sense of self, and success would all deliver success (and maybe even a Friday night game).

Jack Trengove signed by Port Adelaide as a Delisted Free Agent
Great for Jack, canât see the sense for Port. Is he back up for Rocky? Do they want him for leadership? we know he is a great bloke and a smart footballer, but he was off the pace of AFL in the games he played this year for Melb. I think he will dominate the SANFL, but will be found out if selected for Port. Ports strategy is difficult to understand, with their outs and ins. Have brought in 4 players with specific question marks- they must believe that Kochieâs Kool Aid fixes all. 2018 will be an interesting year for this team.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC
Really? How do you judge that his negotiating skills are horrible when you have NO IDEA what his desired outcome, or minimal negotiating position, actually is? It is not life and death, FMD! He is not a hostage negotiator. I would prefer that the Dees are known as decent to deal with - the first step in building trust to establishing a frame for negotiation. you slag him off and have not one fâing clue.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
In 12 months, we wonât be arguing over which picks, but whether he is one of the top players in the AFL. Very nice get, thank you very much.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC
Iâm hoping Balic is a 4th rounder, or whatever we have leftover from other deals. Think this will go down at the end of the period, rather than early. I donât think there will be other deals contingent on this.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Confucius say âLever in hand, better than 2 fulcrum in bushâ smart fella, that Confucius. Lever ready to go now, draft pick 2018 may be good 2020. behavioural economics here is clear. We have taken the lower risk payout early rather than higher risk payout later. With optimism bias, we may believe we could grab 2 superstars with those picks. Reality suggests our strike rate is lower than that. we also have a good recent record of lower picks delivering the goods. The deal is about lower risk, faster reward with a dose or reality thrown in. On this basis - and where we are at, itâs a good deal. We will know in the next couple of years if it is a great one.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
He is getting a finger and an ankle. The finger because it has been stuck up his ahrse. Ankle because he has had his foot in his mouth. Back in time to sook about Sloane in the pre-season.

2017 Player Reviews: # 33 Jake Spencer
Really finished the year off poorly. Could have imposed himself but failed to do so. Doubt he has any currency. Thanks, ans see ya. Seems the drinking session was a bit of a line in the sand for the club.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
They still want two first rounders, but will speak âonly to usâ for now (how nice of them...). These pricks have no idea. I was hoping this would be done quick so we could get on with other things, but it looks like this one may drag over the two weeks.

4th rounder and get it done - boom!

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
The media are paid to speculate - and to create controversy and click bait. At the end of the day, our FD isnât sitting there saying âwow! We got that so wrong! Because Weaful Wee said he is worth a first rounder, we need to change our thinkingâ. Ignore the idiots, ignore the chaff.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I have been thinking on âwhat is he worthâ (and it extends to Watts, and everyone else). A draft pick takes effort and resources to develop into a player. The pick has âpotentialâ but no evidence of performance capability. So when we think of Lever, he was a first round pick that has had investment in his development, and we believe that he has long term potential and demonstrated performance capability. We can get in draft picks and pay them a lower salary. Or else we can bring in players and pay for their development elsewhere (and hopefully decrease the risk that we take in getting them ready to go). In terms of salary, bringing in a low risk, low cost to develop option is definitely worth more than a developing young player who has yet to deliver on their potential. Players that pass through development and show that they can play move into the category of lower risk assets, and are worth additional salary. (This is where it looks like Adelaide screwed up). From a âtrade valueâ scenario, it really depends where you are relative to your list development. If there is a scarcity for specific talent that we need to complete a part of our list, then paying âoversâ is acceptable. If the list is shoddy or full of holes, then going for young potential through the draft is higher risk - but if you are not a serious contender is a lower cost strategy that makes sense. This is where we have been for the last decade. If you know there are higher quality talent (risk, but lower risk) in the draft, and you dont have immediate need, then trading for the right picks seems wise. List management also requires a continuous back fill of talent so that you have âdepthâ. So return to the issue at hand: What should we pay Lever and pay for Lever? Probably overs in terms of contract, and overs in terms of pure replacement pick (so a first and a second). What should we get for Watts? Probably unders - we wont get a first pick, and probably a second round pick would be appropriate. That is, unless we can find a suitor that has a specific need that they are trying to fill. He is worth more to us (if he puts the shoulder to the wheel) than his market value because of his 9 years of demonstrated âperformanceâ and unfulfilled âpotentialâ. Dealing between clubs is not about âwinning and losingâ (outcome bias), but about serving our needs. If the club determines that getting Lever for two first round picks is value to us, then so be it. It is not about the deal for Danger, Mitchell, or whomever. This just biases the conversation (and why Burton from Adelaide is a clown). Get the best you can, relative to current need, and get on with chasing the flag. Between filling a few holes in the list, and seeing some significant development in talent on the way up, I think we are well placed. We dont need too much from the draft, so the picks are better used traded out to get what we need in terms of already developed and performing talent.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Dwayne Russell is a [censored]. Who cares what he thinks. He has to keep talking or he would dribble. He has no place in setting the value. Walk to the draft if you must, JL, and screw the crows.
