  1. Mate..its not a matter of picking holes. The title makes it sound like an announcement...that this will happen. There is no such evidence..Therefore.. possibly it ought to be .. "Do you think Grimes should play agains the Tigers" etc.
  2. whether there is or not.. the Thread title is ambit at best !!
  3. were talking Carlton here.. they play for keeps !!
  4. if hes out of contract he may walk into the PSD...we get nothing....thats life
  5. and why wouldnt you be ? Its business..Its not our business to protect anothers..Its not our business to prop up anothers. Yeah..its really hurting Carlton isnt it ?? For far too long weve played scaredy pants when dealing with others.. You dont think other clubs cant sniff that !! We need to play a lot harder and a lot smarter. In all likely hood we may get nothing for Jeff..or any one else out of contract...thems the chances you take.
  6. you're excused... not many would !!
  7. who knows Rhino...who knows.. The word 'dumb' does come to mind..We were very silly in a lot of list management decisions
  8. Why is it burning to give away your "vouchers" Thats just dumb !! There may wel be an argument for a trade with Warnock...but for me thats not it !! we're in it for US... bugger the rest of "THEM" We dont know who or what will be lining up in the draft yet ( PSD ) If you were prudent youd keep your cards close to your chest at present
  9. Difference being.. Fev is a potential 100 goaler..in a team looking at playing finals next year.. we...well..
  10. Observation ...how many times do we see a Melbourne player put in a blinder of a year ..........just prior to contract time ? <_<
  11. Rogue..youre right..Its asalient point lost on many.. The big picture is really about where we are in 2-3 years time. Yes we ought to do better nexy year..but thats hardly a reach !! If Brad gets too cute about negotiations then we as a club need to learn form the past mistakes of Ooze etc and release him to freshen up oportunties elsewhere. Now Id like him to stay...and much is probably typical cash table games etc.. But We need to position ourselves forward..not concern too much about today as such
  12. tsk tsk !! We dont like talk of tanking here.. lets just call it "List Management " or " Career development" or "Assett enhancement" No no no...No Panzer, Shermans or Leopards here.. ...funny though, we do play Tigers soon
  13. Many dont subscribe to playing for playings's sake but in many ways this game is a dead rubber. Quite possibly Bailey might think Meesen can bring somethign to 'this' game and might be curious enough about what he can do on the big stage to see it happen. Meesen does after all have more experience playing on most of thses guys than the rest of the team !!
  14. Maybe add more than a few cases of Margaret River product.. but I'd do that deal
  15. DB does like to pull the ocasional rabbit out of the hat , sometimes they're hares..and Im sure sometimes its his own hair he pulls out !! There is a peculiar South Australian flavour to all this.. We're playing one.. He ( DB ) was one. .Meeson ...was one.. and we're playing them there ! I wouldnt bet against Meesen getting a guernsey !! it just has that funny feeling about it all !!
  16. Thanks Jeff for the good years..hope all works out well for you ...oh..I hear Fremantle might be looking for someone !!
  17. two words for Harvey!! Poor Diddums !! Poor Harvey..poor him !! lol Someone hand him a towel..he's still wet behind the ears !!
  18. Ive probably watched him near on half a dozen times to date.. all the whiles coming away about as excited as one is toward unflavoured blacmange !! On one hand is/could be quite capable...on other he seems about excited about it all as the previously mentioned dessert !! I dont get him
  19. Onya Preacher...good luck son I think it will do WCE a lot of good having a non-west Australian in charge of the dept
  20. Whilst I used the word BIG.. I only really infered,in realtion to him. He's looking at it from a work place poin tof view..and needs to strike while his iron is hot ( well..very warm..lol ) . He might find himslef doing so at possibly the wrong time as some suggest its no holes barred at present..Its all about tomorrow.. Id be happy to consider a decent ofer for Brad..there is the notion that we cant trade all of our better blokes. But the real question is who amongst our lot wil really interest others.. Brad fill the bill. So would Jared.. but as others poit out his coin is devalued by his fitness ( as indeed it is to us aswell!! ) We have to get the best bods assembled to coalesce in say 3-5 years.. next year is also a building block.. As many allude...hard decisions ahead !!
  21. You would think its Fox's if he wants it.
  22. AFL looking to expand into India There are without doubt times I really wonder if the AFL just doesnt get a little ahead of itself...let alone miss the mark entirely. Recent experiences in South Africa are very encouraging for some scaled adoption of our beloved sport. Even now there are thousands of kids registered to play in various leagues on that continent. The match up of talent and the style of the game seems to go hand in glove. The AFL in this ambitious move may well be on a winner in teh future. Note.. This continent has a history of playing a game with a ball and their feet !!..as opposed to................. Moving to India.. I cant hold back..my only reaction. is..WTF ??? There is only really one sport in India..its actually not a sport any more..its a religious experience that goes beyond obsession.. It's called CRICKET. Now its one thing to go into NSW and throw your money around with the idea of attracting a certain following and enabling expansion. Its a far far different kettle of fish to go to India and create any sort of interest in AFL.. Memo to Vlad.. "your stark raving mad !!" Even the sheer weight of numbers wont matter. Its a land of classes.. a land of a few have and the rest have bugger all. Vlad...just because they are cricket mad doesnt mean they want something to play in the off season !! Actualy in India..there is no off Season when it comes to Cricket !!
  23. Should Brad go I concur it will be in a less than straightforward trade such as Kit suggests. Depending on where he might attract interest will effect what the sweetener is...and overall result. One thing for sure it wil be another interesting trade period, not only for its stauts as one of the last level field events for a few years but also with new board and positble "directions" given. Id be dead curious to know just how much is the stumbling block. of course..it might just be the fun and games of renegotiating. You would have to think this is Brads last BIG money contract. He's more than entitled to get what he can.. of course the club is bound to contain costs..especially with a lower sal cap imposed.
  24. I reckon this just about summarises it. One way or another Fox has already invested some time into the process sohe must be more than a little interested. Leaving everything in the past..in the past i think an appointment such as his might resolve a few other problems.. sponsorship being one. Youd only have to presume as a potential you might be happier knowing the ship was to be sailed well !! Speculative I agree..but not without cause.
  25. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/cats...8911570758.htm Well folks...get your dancing shoes on again..its Twist and Shout.. with the revolving door of opportunity otherwise known as the MFC -CEO position.. seems ol' Stuart is back in teh mix.. my head is spinning already !!
