Is this secret squirrel paper only ...cant seem to locate it online.. anyone found it ? cheers
-
BINGO..It really takes the edge and urgency off. Probably not even intended..it just happens. You know the end is nigh...and it just kills the moment. I dont really understand why he was on the park.
-
Youre not alone here. . Is it Volvo doing us a favour ? Is it Volvo being cagey ? I spose any which way..thanks for another year Now to find the major sponsor as I believe Primus are up for renewal end of this year ...happy to be corrected if someone knows otherwise. Might take some selling that. Still..a great time for a new backer to come on board and ride the wave Happy to keep Primus if they wish. I think we need yet more sponsors. A hard gig that is for anyone trying to secure these for the Dees..lets be realistic

Probably to the core of the debacle that was last night. It wa sa very makeshift sort of team in all reality. Geelong at present isnt really the foe you want to meet under those circumstances. The Melbourne we will see next year wil be quite different..and the one the year after hardly recognisable in many ways form who took to the grass this year.
-
In reality this sums it up. Im sure no Melbourne supporter relishes a defeat such as last night, but despite the hoopla of the historical significance ( which was shame none the less ) it really mattered not. Unpalatable yes.. consequential ? Probably not. dare I agree with another poster who suggested the percentage will "help'. We go out terribly undermanned and with nothing to really gain.. they go out for a training run. Its not the end of the world, but it is a week closer to the end of the season, an end that really cant come quick enough. 2008 was dead andburied months ago, sad but true. Lets get to the end...have our cleanout..recruit some guns ( in the making ) .. rebuild the mental fabric of the club and start afresh. RIP 2008

Seems a perfectly realistic thing from my standpoint..well within reason Id say Graham

Clearly your appreciation skills are wanting. Tell me what I said that wasnt correct( in fact ) . Tell me where I thought Brocky should do more ? I simply put a perspective on it and commented I thought it odd that we are only hearing of Brock. Youre the one putting all the spin on. Again..and pay attention..Its good that Brock has made the effort. Again..in relation to the Millions he has/will earn from the club..then its all relative . Again..The MFC is a business...and..Why are we only hearing about Brocky ? Now if you can get through that without tripping over.. comment away !!
-
Oh..I see.. you can make a comment like that..but any others is "south"?? <_<
-
I concur that it takes personal courage to do so.. But occasionaly courage can be foolhardy. The point some of us are attempting to make..is its not courage alone that makes a Captain. Many more qualities come to bear. As it happens I dont run 15 k any more these days..never did actually. 10 was my norm..And Ihave some experience with splints. I agree no fun at all..NONE. I also know that some times you DONT ,because that may prevent you from doing things later. That may or may not come under the common-sense banner. Again..we need to distinguish between the various attributes...I dont see any in Cam that shouts CAPTAIN !!..and we're talking captains here arent we ?
-
So i take it you frown upon any discussion? Do all all comments need to be congruent ?? Strangely what I said was matter of fact..others got all steamy and emotive. Morethe point..some ought to read what's written..not what they think they are reading. Again perspective.. Brocks donates money..great. Brock also earns hell of a lot from this club. Is this NOT true also. Strange that anyone centres on Brock donating ( again good ) but where's the reporting of others doing similar ?
-
oh..please...spare my sensivities...grow up will you ffs !!Here we have people on 300/400 plus a year. Seriously 10 grand isnt a cough for these. I again..repeat for those unable to read..Its commendable. .If I was earning that money ..and my employer looked a bit shaky..I might add to the coffers also. Comentary doesnt take anything away from his or others gesture..but some perspective can be added surely..or are some peole so blind to realites that everytthing said or commented must be squeeky clean and syruppy.. Seems odd tome that only Brocky is mentioned. Keep in mind this is also a business. What I choose to doante ..wheenand where is none of your business..I dont need to come on here and skite like some 6 year old.
-
Its indeed commendable. Good on him. At the same time without wanting to denigrate the action ..10 g out of a whopping pay packet isnt going to hurt a lot. I would like to think many other players also felt so inclined to help the hand that feeds them.
-
Ironically ..its all a bit like history repeatig itself. what we are witnessing is almost the birth of High end suburban footy. and along with that the way the demand will dictate the necessities.I suspect if after a year or so with al parties realising that there is indeed promise in all this then you may well see a plan to"renovate' the place and increase seating and other facilities...just like it all happend scores of years ago, funny that !! Now we just need some decent lobbying to get that station built sooner rather than later
-
09 might be pushing it a bit.. but boyz to men in oh-10.....well who knows !!
-
Ah..am not saying he cant help.. but is match day the time to do it ?? Almost goes hand in hand with the Bruce/splints issue..If you cant go out and give or perform at the highest level.. why allow it ?
-
I'll agree with you here.. This was raised earlier in year. Im leaning more towards stupid personally. So what he is saying is hes prepared to go out knowing he cant give a 100%...doesnt make sense to me
-
lol.. You actually hit the nail.. its about a team.. It was thrown at me that youngens cant do it.. I just proved it can.. Take umbrage if you will.. so be it. Of course there are a myriad forms a team can take.. I just thought we were concentrating on youth.. No ??
-
What on earth has playing with splints got to do with captaincy ?? two very unrelated things
-
never heard of the the baby bombers huh.. maybe before your time perhaps
-
I just call it as i tse it.. Whelan hasnt come anywhere near his previous career best of 2-3 years ago. Reality suggests that with his proness to injuries..and the time taken to recover he represents very poor value. If he was playing as he used to..we wouldnt even be discussing this. Cant do it all with yongens huh.. try telling Essendon that !! Ah experience..yes.. by the time this team comes into its bloom..in 2-4 years there will be no Whelan.. so whats the point.. makes far more sense to get that EXPERIENCE into whomever wil be there
-
well.. i'll be different ( how unusual ) I dont see this as particularly clever, unless he's purely inthe mix for insurance. He's turning 30 next year and hardly fits into the you beaut 23 mix as purported by al illuminaries. He has not come near hiscareer best form and I for one thought he played a bit loose this year in his limited outings all with limited effect. A good preseason may see better form but there are no gaurantees of his ever regaiining his former fitness and as such his previous form. Signig Junior for year makes sense both for his form/impact and leadership qualites. personallyI dot see re-signing Wheels as anything clever going forward. This is nothig about whether a bloke is a favourite of anyones..etc.. its purely about what a player adds to the mix going forward. Id personally put the efforts and dollars into a younger player. Of course i dont expect much agreement..seldom do many put down their rose coloured glasses
-
I see nothing in what I say to suggest wrappig him in cotton wool.. he hasnt played in teh seniors yet. Why the rush.. Answer that ? <_<
-
I find it almost laughable at the needless haste beig bandied by some to bring Grimes on to AFL level. For what ?? Let him find his legs.. Give him a good solid preseason and then we'll see where he sits in the grand scheme of things. As to Lovell. I think some folk lose perspective and seem to think that Sandringham is OUR club..they arent..nor aever were. They were simply in alliance with us..Thats a vastly different thing. The Zebs always had/have their eyes firmly planted on the prize, and they got it...and got it..and got it...lol. Their primary concernwas NOT to bring our lads on but to acomodate them as best in order to facilitate their own ends. Im fine with that. Lovell has obviously beenfar less successful thanhis predescessor, but it cant alb e laid at his feet for that. He's had a pretty rugged year of injuries. Still when did Zebbies last see the bottom half of the ladder at this time of year ?
-
I can live comfortably with Junior taking the reigns next year. Thereafter it will be more obvious who is suited to take the role through our next 'triumphant' era
-
Without doubt a huge lement to the succes of the venue wil be enhanced seating. Some of this ought to come as teh direct result of extensions to the existing building to accomodate teh mighty Dees. Aroundthe groud improvements ought to come as a consequence in coming years also . This wil not be an overnight accomplishment. It will take a few seasons of efort and investment. Im sure the vaious parties are holding off any other 'plans' for this venue until waters settle and they can see attitudes and results.
