He has said and maintained he understands Scully's view and respects it... support. ??? who knows. Might be a stretch that. Trengove is playing a very straight bat here. As is his only real option. Very unfair how hes been made to cop so much that really Scully should front for...imho

I think this is very valid. So much about Tom is all 'future based". His value by many is accorded by way of his potential and where he "might' be in 2-3 seasons. This is where the equation becomes very expensive. Theres no dounbt this kid has a brilliant footy mind. He will become very good. How good though ? Well depends on who's pump you use as to how inflated the forecast becomes. This for many is the thing that sticks in the craw...is how much to pay whilst he becomes whatever he becomes, and wil that be indeed what the hype insists ? If GWS wasnt looming...what would this lads value, expectation and such be ?? So much about all this is skewed because of the GWS factor.

You would have to think that the looming advent of Free Agency and its particualr indluence on players of such service as Colin that the club is probably looking to 2 year contracts as a norm. Everyone I suppose is deserving of a fair shake of the tree and possibly Colin , more than another certain player , could legitimately throw attention to the upcoming CBA. I can only think the club is smartening up and conrtucting payments a lot more around performance than in the past.

I definitely feel ( hope ) that Melbourne's "Brass" are slowly learning to be a littel more steeley in its resolve come Contracts. Theres no doubt weve been burnt in the past and some current players are really getting above award wages considering their effforts.. I think the MFC is slowly coming to the idea that "two can place this game" and still manage to keep a balanced healthy ( and growable ) list. If players want to take the line that clubs are expendable, then so to are they. Col's worth keeping, for sure, but if he goes, then he goes..and someone else comes. And tomorrow the sun will stil rise and on and on

To be honest.. Col's a bit of an enigma. Hes hot hes cold. During many of the games this year when we needed some senior presence Sylvia was amongst the missing. He put s in some great games, but far too few. He puts in far more Good qtrs than he does entire games.. Hes replacable. He might be just fishing for another good contract at the Dees..or be genuine in starting afresh. Wouldnt worry me if he went....Just make sure we get someting decent in return, thats all.

This ^^^^ Ive been as critical as any of Jonesy over the time but he seems to be polishing his act quite a bit. Still accounts for some teeth gnashing clangers but his vision has improved and doesnt panic with ball nearly as much. Not quite there yet...but on the way...Good effort

Actually for mine he strikes me as one of those.. "Always had the talent and showed potential but never did quite put it all together over his journeyman career" time for him to continue that journey

what you say is dead right.. hed be bouncig off a few players just at the moment...but given his tender years he ought to be nearer Beamer by the time he hits the deck for Melbourne ( maybe just a few kilos lighter...but not much. He ought to put on 7-8 kg over next 18 months youd think. Absolutely right about the in built GnD.
