  1. In truth, a lot of the 'additional' funds push the clubs into the black - which is where you want them to be, which is profitable without having excesses of largesse. clubs are not privately owned companies, and technically the afl is a not-for-profit organisation. seems nuts that a lot of very wealthy clubs that make significant profits are being still given lots of coin.
  2. any further detail on what 'additional' constitutes?
  3. his reading of the play and his attack on the ball - particularly after salem went down - was very exciting to watch.
  4. every time i watch him play i just think 'this kid could be anything'.
  5. any reports of final stats as yet? vfl have listed oliver, dunn, anb, j smith, t smith and hutchins as casey's top 6 players.
  6. good stuff, go scorps. really pleasing to know that we've got a bit of depth on the list and the relationship with our vfl affiliate is strong.
  7. update on salem - has left the ground to go home. he looked awesome in first half.
  8. any idea re the stats?
  9. awesome, thanks saty. never been to a vfl grand final i don't think; done sanfl a bunch of times.
  10. dunn is enjoying it today, having fun out there.
  11. righto, how do we get tickets next week? members get in, either club or afl or both?
  12. smith looks like a player.
  13. salem just eats up the ground in front of him. losing him today is a big blow; hopefully as long as we maintain control he'll be right for the big dance next week. too good for vfl level, as is oliver. hopefully he doesn't cop a suspension. dunn is much the better player than he or garland. trengove, anb and kennedy look like good vfl players rather than afl players performing at vfl level. weideman just looks out of touch, big time, but at least he keeps leading up and presenting.
  14. Primarily because I don't want a "boy's club" but instead a variety of different influences. Montgomery has been under some pretty handy coaches, whilst Sumich is super highly rated in the west, and the other two have been involved in one of the most successful eras of all time. I know Egan has big wraps but I just worry about too many of the same influences coming to reinforce the same messaging as opposed to look at different avenues.
  15. same thing from clark and barrett - "we don't know, and we don't think he knows what he wants to do...but we don't know that either."
  16. yes, because he's an unproven key defender who has proved zip thus far due to injury and not being a good size match-up for talls and smalls. that's not what multiple reports are saying, which is that gw$ want pick 5 and they give marchbank 'plus something else'.
  17. yep, sure would have. he's unproven, has had severe injury issues, is not the ideal size for a modern key defender, and the blues are going to be giving up pick 5 and getting marchbank and something else back (such as a later pick of another player, such as palmer). i don't think marchbank is worth anything like that. it's an opinion. i didn't "slag him off" i stated something "in my view".
  18. as far as i'm aware we never approached him as it's been known for a while that he was going to nominate the blues.
  19. marchbank has played 7 games, in which he's broken down with injury in, what, four of em? at 193cm and 90kg he's too small for the big blokes, not quick enough for the small blokes. he's kristian jaksch mk 2 in my view.
  20. goodwin was far more positive on sen coaches box. everything seems to be pointing to the fact that jesse is genuinely torn about what to do, and caroline did say that she heard at one stage it was one way, but now she thinks it might be the other, but she genuinely doesn't know. she's not alone - no one does. it's all just speculation at this point.
  21. - montgomery - sumich - yze - bruce any of those four over egan.
  22. You ever know with injuries etc.
  23. Balme walks out on Buckley, straight to punt road oval.
  24. Petrie looks done. Dal Santo and Firrito could easily go on next year, and why they're retiring Boomer off I have no idea - he's still just about their best player other than Goldstein. Pick 15 was a lot to give up for Anderson, doesn't do anything like enough.
