  1. the filth are the most in-form team in the competition and are - disgustingly - fantastic to watch BUT since they last made a grand final in 2018 it is melbourne with 3 finals win and a premiership to the filth 2 finals wins and no grand final as we saw in 2022, great form in the home and away will count for nothing without making it count in september
  2. damian barrett at afl pravda has been saying the same for a while, so presumably that's the word coming down from on high, and they're preparing and 'conditioning' the public to expect it
  3. well, presuming the worst... OUT: hunter, oliver, bowey IN: howes, jordon, sparrow i would like to see smith rewarded for good form at casey but four changes is a lot for goodwin
  4. north had TWO interchanges over the limit they REALLY didn't wanna win that game TANK HARD
  5. sounds like classique doggy brown - he was always yapping away
  6. some brilliance from cameron bears keeping gc17 at arm's length
  7. for whom? hibberd or lever is the only player he'd really be replacing at this point, and neither of those players should be dropped
  8. i really hope so kid looks a gun
  9. mac andrew looks like he's reading the play a bit better tonight
  10. if he's a monty pick 1 selection, surefire raging favourite to go there - absolutely! but he's not, and we won't, so it seems like an irrelevant thing to worry about as up thread said, we're going to get a competent afl-list level second / third round selection from a father-son happy days
  11. personally i'd prefer if he was an elite talent and we could be confident in picking a father-son who was a class above players his own age he doesn't sound like he's quite that but he's not exactly sounding like a player who won't be on an afl list in 2024
  12. harmes played at casey - one of the best mids today in terms of run and carry but burns the ball too often
  13. who for tho? at the moment our backline is over-indexed... talls: may, lever mid-size: hibberd plays tall, rivers rebounds smalls: salem, brayshaw, bowey, mcvee that being said, turner has been clear bog this game i'd say - only player he'd replace would be one of the talls or hibberd, and even then i'd probably go tomlinson to replace may if needs be
  14. this there was little difference between this game and the filth's narrow win over adelaide at the oval - both ostensibly 'superior' teams had purple patches but otherwise had their strengths negated by a side that played hard, disciplined football in ordinary conditions the only difference is a) yaartapulti are a vastly superior team to the crom and 2) the filth won
  15. competing in the air more that second quarter
  16. loving the pom on play by play and the dinkydi oztrayan on the colour - real contrast of voices jefferson been impressive this quarter with marks and now a big goal from 50
  17. In a post JVR ruling world I reckon he’s looking at a fortnight off
  18. Prior to the Casey game, I would assume… OUT: Hunter (suspended), McDonald, McVee IN: Sparrow, Brown JJ needs either a full game at afl level or straight up get dropped - he offered little last night after coming in for Bowey Brayshaw must return to defence - too slow to transition between offence and defence as a mid
  19. If buts and maybes They didn’t, we lost narrowly, such as it is If we’d kicked accurately vs gc17 we wouldn’t have won that closely Swings and roundabouts
  20. We lost by four points and people are carrying on like it was 40 It was a great game and ask any neutral this morning and they’re all saying we both looked like top tier sides
  21. 6: rivers 5: may 4: oliver 3: fritsch 2: petracca 1: hibberd
  22. in terms of the midfield, we really missed sparrow brayshaw is not a midfielder who suits our game style, as his ability to switch from offense to defense is very slow petracca was clearly hobbled and couldn't get any acceleration out of the contest til after half time, and then only sporadically
  23. great game and i hated every second of it
