  1. I like this one:- "He also ran a 15.1 beep test at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft Camp and his play has been likened to Brett Kirk of the Sydney Swans."
  2. I actually think the selection of Jamar is a good one because it gives us an extra tall that was so sadly missing up forward last week. Thw fact that we have a tall player on the forward line means players like Aaron and Aussie can crumb around the goals instead of having to compete with the monsters for marks. Good move!
  3. If that's the case then why all of the drama? Either name him and play him or don't name him and don't play him.
  4. There has clearly been no change in club policy about keeping members in the dark about player injury situations. If this was a strategic or tactical thing I could understand but these are young players who won't be playing in the seniors this week so why clam up about their condition?
  5. That's a much fairer assessment than the bogan who writes this blog on behalf of the Magpies - http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/afl/fan...he_snowbunnies/
  6. And going by the free kick count of 19-8 in favour of the Crows it looks like the maggots are having their usual influence too (although I don't suggest the result would be any different)! Why don't we get home town decisions like some of these interstate clubs get?
  7. Given that we played our skipper in the same role for the first five weeks of the season, would that come into it as a criteria? I like the idea. It's worth a try and it would extend a lot of opposition defenders if it worked. If it doesn't work then Neita's back in Round 13 ... maybe and Newton ... well, who knows?
  8. If we can win tomorrow by about 10 goals we will have doubled our percentage since round 1. If that happens then Bailey can have the coaching gig for life!
  9. Based on Bazza's assessment we are going to have some trouble replacing Brad Miller at CHF this week.
  10. Report in the Melbourne Age: Deja vu A TO-DO between feisty Labor MP Kirstie Marshall and a cabbie outside Crown money bin last Friday has not passed unnoticed among Melbourne Demons fans, who recall the parliamentary breastfeeder's cracks at their gallant, albeit temporarily errant, captain David Neitz after he wrangled with a cabbie at the same venue in 2003. Back then Marshall barked: "To me it means you need serious help . . . get a therapist." Yesterday her office told The Age that "an incident" occurred on Friday and that Marshall had filed a complaint. However, a radio report hinted that the blame was not entirely one-sided. Quipped one prominent Dee-boy: "If a therapist can help sort this out I'd be happy to recommend one."
  11. Anyone care to give their assessment about Bohdan Babiczjuk our fitness coach?
  12. How very unfortunate for the young fellow who is the hard man of the side and the heart and soul of that team.
  13. Well, we won a quarter, Things are looking up! Is Morton playing?
  14. If you want to watch Melbourne's training then it might be an idea to consult the Kangaroos' website first. Either that, or go to the Gold Coast. No wonder Juda$ didn't want to come to us. It's a long bikeride to Trinity for nothing (I assume an environmental spokesperson wouldn't be driving).
  15. Will be wearing # 4 with the Brisbane Lions ...
  16. The AFL has handed Richmond an insulting draw with three home games at the Telstra Dome including one against Co-MCG tenant Melbourne - another insult from the AFL to Victorian clubs. Watch how they pamper the interstaters and ignore things like the drug culture out west but when it comes to the Vics, anything goes including taking away their home ground rights - Tigers snarling over Dome home games.
  17. According to this Age article (which is mainly about Carlton signing every good young Irish prospect under the sun) Jared Brennan will re-sign with the Lions - Carlton plunders Irish teen stocks. "The Brisbane Lions, meanwhile, look certain to have reached an agreement with the disgruntled Jared Brennan. Brennan, who had shown interest in playing for Essendon, is expected to re-sign on a three-year deal."
  18. There's a discussion on bigfooty about the worst trade ever and a Carlton supporter suggested that this year's trade by Richmond for Jordan McMahon qualified as the worst ever. A Tiger fan came back with this beauty - Worst trade ever? That's easy. Pick 16 and 46 for Stephen O'Reilly who played 12 games for you. AND you had to pay him illegally outside the cap. AND he blew the whistle on you. AND you had to pay a fine. AND you got kicked out of the draft and had to recruit hacks. AND it meant that your mulit-million investment in Denis Pagan was a waste because he had no players. Stephen O'Reilly for - Pick 16, pick 46, $1m fine, pick 1, 2, 17 and 33 in the 2003 draft, pick 1 in the 2003 PSD, 1st and 2nd round picks in the 2004 draft. I reckon that would have the McMahon trade covered by a couple of laps of Flemington, then a trip down the highway for a run round Caulfield, before a backtrack to run the length of the Moonee Valley straight.
  19. You mean like Port Adelaide and the Kangaroos were this time last year?
  20. Anyway why would you want to draft a player who has just been cast out by the most crap club in the competition? It makes no sense at all except that they had to dump their skipper to give them room in the salary cap for Judd whose groin might be cactus. I hope Judd gives them the same service Lance gave them in 2007 -- he would be the perfect replacement.
  21. Could he be bringing Jordan McMahon with him?
  22. In the game v Melbourne in Round 19 he did give away a few free kicks (4 actually) but he still had 16 disposals in what was considered a poor game. Howver, his season highlights include # 20 disposals (13 kicks 7 handballs), 10 marks and 4 tackles in Rd 15 33-pt win over Essendon at Docklands Stadium (14 Jul 2007) # 22 disposals (18 kicks 4 handballs) and 7 marks in Rd 14 20-pt win over Port Adelaide at Docklands Stadium (7 Jul 2007) # 22 disposals (17 kicks 5 handballs) and 12 marks in Rd 12 26-pt win over Fremantle at Marrara Oval (16 Jun 2007) # 23 disposals (19 kicks 4 handballs) and 10 marks in Rd 4 32-pt win over Richmond at the MCG (20 Apr 2007) # 25 disposals (20 kicks 5 handballs) and 9 marks in Rd 3 50-pt loss to St Kilda at Docklands Stadium (14 Apr 2007) # 26 disposals (19 kicks 7 handballs) and 3 marks in Rd 2 38-pt loss to Adelaide at the MCG (8 Apr 2007) # 30 disposals (16 kicks 14 handballs) and 4 marks in Rd 1 20-pt win over Geelong at Docklands Stadium (1 Apr 2007) He plays a different position but that's about 10 times Jamar's average output isn't it?
