  1. Not to prolong this more than it needs to be but the one constant I find with De Goey in all these scenarios is that he's alone. Rarely mention of teammates or close friends being present. I brought up Chris Tarrant before but I remember most of his indiscretions were with teammates there, usually Ben Johnson. Could be one of these lone ranger party animals that likes the buzz of venturing out and getting attention like a Wayne Carey back in the day. Possibly addicted to the thrill of it. I don't know, just a thought.
  2. Exactly, that's what it's about right now. Getting over the line, even if ugly. Freo and Bris have been doing that, we haven't.
  3. I do like him, works great in that kind of forward line, undecided on whether he'd be a good fit for us. Seems like a Mihocek type which you'd hardly sneeze at but can they be the focal point? It would come down to what happens with our other forwards come season's end I guess. Upgrade from Mitch Brown no doubt though!
  4. I quite like Shannon Gill's stuff and he's a fellow demon. Shame it's paywalled :(
  5. That's it, let's get as many there as we can and if possible some donations. It all counts!
  6. Gameday people. Gear yourself up for the rickety billy cart ride down!
  7. Take your point, teams can change sometimes when they become more successful and there was an intent to hurt late in that game. I do agree to an extent on Zorko too heโ€™s become a bit of a yapper. I do like a lot about the Lions though starting with their coach. Daniher was mentioned before elsewhere, I get that but you can pretty much go through every club and find one player like that which you donโ€™t like, even at Melbourne. You take a bit of the bad with the good. itโ€™s when the weight of numbers get out of control that I decide to really dislike clubs. The only VIC clubs Iโ€™d be ok to see win it are the Cats (unpopular I know) and maybe St Kilda and even then the idea that other Vic footy fans would get to be there for it is still too soon.
  8. On the plus side, at least he's a top 25 ranked ruckman!
  9. +1 Freo. Followed by Bris, GC the maybe Swans. Everyone else can cram it.
  10. If they think De Goey missing training after a bye and a trip to Bali is a better look than when the story broke then they've got some serious PR to do.
  11. Wow Winners, that is pretty darn cool.
  12. The last time I would have gone to the Baxter Tavern would have been when I was playing club soccer and we played Baxter FC at that ground in Flinders Rd. We suffered a cricket score drubbing and ended up there haha. Saw the Tatts and Angels a few times in their later years. The one thing you'd get from those gigs was a fun night thatโ€™s for sure!
  13. What an experience Binman, the one and only Warren Zevon! One of the smartest songwriters for sure and you certainly couldn't box him into one genre. Any other big acts grace the old Baxter?
  14. Does anyone remember 'The Run Home' with Dermott, Huddo and Matt Hardy the comedian? One of the first drive time shows on SEN I think.
  15. Well whether or not it has anything to do with him not being in line for selection at least he can now focus on his footy without this business hanging around in the background.
  16. Excellent observation. It seems to go in line with the way they motion ie free kick signal then arm pointing the way of the free. I do think it would clear up some confusion. I might actually give them the benefit of the doubt on this though, I'm sure there is some kind of reason for this.
  17. De Goey finished as a man? That's a bit strong isn't it?
  18. We need better decision makers in life
  19. We go again next week.
  20. Woo hoo, table!
  21. I don't know a lot about Auld's direct influence up at GC to know how well or poorly he did. From the outside looking in I think even Peter Jackson would have had a tough time there in those days but I do take your point. I thought his role in the fixturing in 2020 was a decent feathers in the cap. Where Peggy O'Neil is concerned that is true but to me the club president role is a place where you can do this and get the right people in. I'm actually a bit surprised how many club presidents have been linked to this job considering governance and management are two different things. You can definitively make the transition of course and a lot of these people have management backgrounds but if you're hiring for AFL CEO you'd want a bit more than an overpriced delegator in my opinion. Not ruling it out though, the bold moves can often spark progress.

That's pretty much my take on it too. It's annoying but will likely cop the $7. I actually just started a new phone plan with Optus so a little miffed at the timing but it's for all the improvement there's been. I demand this though Roy. No more mandatory 60 second ads! They have them even in 9 min highlight packs now. Surely a 5 second skip option at very least!

At the end of the day it's their choice, if they think boosting the matchday experience and entertainment is the way to go then boost away. I have my doubts though and unless they've got one of those big t-shirt guns that can shoot more fans into seats in the audience, then it's going to be a futile exercise.
