And once again Collingwood have hitched their wagon to the De Goey post. Enjoy another half season of him on the park and occasional big game performance.
  2. Undecided on whether I wanted him or not. I imagine he would have come reasonably cheap and I thought he played some reasonable footy this year higher up the ground. Would help with our kicks into 50. Just hope we haven't missed a good calculated risk opportunity.
  3. I would strongly suggest these Essendon cronies stay out of Scott's way. He's not pleasant when he's angry.
  4. If the email is that far back and he's only checking his inbox then maybe it got archived in MS exchange! 😀
  5. Plus if they can give us some much needed contested aerial ability around the ground that would be very helpful. Also on Blicavs I totally agree, most versitile player in the league by a stretch. I watched that Geelong v Carlton game late in the year where he started by tagging Cripps and doing a bang up job but Carlton were totally snookered because what do you do? Move Cripps up forward? Blicavs will just follow and is already a competent defender in his own right! Think we'll see a few teams trying to get a specialist 'spare parts man' in their mix.
  6. The Grundy one is palatable. Is there anywhere you can learn about point values? I assume somewhere on the AFL site.
  7. Rotations will be back in the mix if the AFL decides to bin the emergency sub for a 5th interchange. Pending the cap number of course. The need to move away from bashing our best 18 into the ground will have to be addressed. Not saying that someone like Clarry would be midfield 70% of the time, there's just no way but we do need a slight shift in mentality and this is one of the pluses with getting Grundy in. Interested to see how this evolves and hopefully whatever they bring in is done with more care than the emergency sub rule.
  8. Sorry if it has been said but has Newbold been stood down from the commission or just given a leave of absence?
  9. Just train him as a ruckman all pre season that's all I ask.
  10. That's right. Other than having the massive burn to coach again it seems like a big deal to give up a great job for a life of stress and burning the midnight oil again.
  11. It seems that the concerns for no evidence will get gradually wiped as more and more of these instances come to light.
  12. Make it a done deal Bombers. Yze and Chocco stay, we can all go home and be happy.
  13. I think they'll be another shot at it, whether it's the best shot remains to be seen but they will be in the mix. Any drop offs with Geelong will probably be minimal and shortlived as their succession planning has been unmatched and this big fall off a cliff that people desperately want to happen just isn't going to be as big as they think. Pretty fair to assume they will be top 4 again.
  14. Well they did want an experienced coach.
  15. Well that was a world wide waste of time
  16. You've said you're not interested in 'half-truths' and the testimony of players and their families may not be sufficient evidence. I get what you are trying to say about process and avoiding Kangaroo Court style approaches but the language seemed to play down the initial testimonies made in the report. In an ideal world you would want all parties to be part of the investigation but it's not like they told their story to New Idea or something like that surely?

Yeah that is true. I would just like to see a little more protection for the clubs. It really is a players' league these days.
  18. Will be good when the actual trades start and they actually have something to report on. This is embarrassing.
  19. Do you reckon it's the kind of info that is easily accessible? I only ask because in the EPL and other Soccer leagues transfers are always made pending a medical assessment. Would love to know a bit more about how it all works here when players are being courted.
  20. Me too, I'm hearing that a lot of teams aren't rating the draft outside of the first and second round and they will be eager to do trades. So much crud going round at the moment though.
  21. Agree, still a lot of good players on that list. Should be able to make the adjustments necessary to compete again qucikly.
  22. How much extra testing do they need to do though? Do you want them cross examined with the light shined into their eyes? I understand what you're saying about due process but what I don't get is why we can't take their testimony in an official report from an internal club review seriously?
  23. I think it's healthy that we are testing the market with players. I'm sure we'd be criticised if we were sitting on our hands.
  24. Like it's definitely true that a lot of their guys were probably a few kilos over where they needed to be, even guys like Gaff who were superior runners couldn't run out games at all. I just loved how eager he was to fat shame.
  25. No direct assumptions but the suggestion that their original testimonies won't hold up is a little dicey.
