POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
The Stewart thing annoys me the most, even more so thing bringing Petty back in. The number of coast to coast scoring chains that he started were hard watching. The real bummer sometimes to our system based approach is that we won't go for the hard tag or other bold move when it may be necessary. That's fine but if we are backing our system in to win the ball back then it requires enough good decision making and clinical execution once we do win it back. Otherwise we are just hamster wheeling it.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Spot on and you would have had the best view of this at the ground. In tight they were able to get a quick 1 or 2 handball chain then sky it out of their backline to a contest on the wing and then a boundary throw in. This equals territory and it snuffed out a number of our attacks and momentum.

I love our focus on pressure but I think you make a decent point. Our forwards need more cutting edge, simple as that. We look toothless up front and it's hard to see an avenue to goal. Footy is hard and AFL defences are hard to play against, we get it. But this is why you need to keep evolving your play and coming up with new ways to get looks at goal.

Dees struggle with wet weather
Definitely would have helped in getting our inside to out game going with quick handball out of congestion. We probably would have butchered it anyway.

Dees struggle with wet weather
Have we ever been a good wet weather team though? There are very few games that I can remember where it rained raining and we didn't keep handballing and looking for run and carry, maybe the Richmond game in 21.

The Run Home
You're right, I'd rather be an in form 3rd or 4th team than the broken and battered 2nd team we were last year.

PREGAME: Rd 16 vs GWS
Seriously, when we finally hack a long and useless ball into the 50 I half expect our forwards to go for a spoil. You could be forgiven for thinking the midfielder just kicked it the wrong way. We need to be proactive as forwards, Fritsch is the only one that will vary his leads up and actually give his opponent something to think about. Smith, while he took some nice grabs just doesn't offer this. Stewart was lying out there sipping pina coladas as he got intercept after intercept.
