Roos Started our Rise by Culling 31 Players over 3 Years
We really were coming from a long way back in 2014. The list was like a terrible haircut and needed some serious hacking. I'm not sure there were many others who would have been up for this job and I'm sure even Roos had moments where he wondered what he signed up for. While it wasn't glamourous I believe this was one of the most important periods in the football club's history.

Yeah I think there will be points scored as well. Stops and turnovers will be worth their weight in gold. It's a horrible thing to think about for me but it's easy to see it coming down to a 2 min drill where #15 makes the big plays and gets them over the line. Can't win if you don't buy a ticket though.

Great to see no.13 back with the group. Has to have a positive effect on everyone.

Very good player and he'll be sorely missed. Tragic for him. Still a hell of a defense though.

Chiefs pass rusher Charles Omenihu tore his ACL yesterday. 7 sacks this season and was massive against the Ravens.

Great fightback. 24-7 down at half time but didn't give in, there was no way we could stop their run especially on the outside. We were just flat out poor in the first half. Already mentioned defending the run but completely unable to get any pressure on Goff as well. I thought the Lions were outstanding in the way they approached this game and really exploited our weakness. Some massive slices of luck helped get us going, the tipped ball Jennings catch and the Aiuik fluke. You need these rubs sometimes and if Purdy doesn't air it out there it doesn't happen. Then Dan Campbell's aggressive approach on 4th down. While it may have been wise to kick the FGs you have to remember its this approach that got the Lions to where they are. They weren't totally void of fortune themselves when Moody missed the field goal from 48 or Purdy couldn't get it to a wide open Jennings to start the 2nd half but that's football, take what they give you. The bright lights kicked in and all of a sudden Gibbs fumble and the 2 Reynolds drops, the pressure was on and Detroit seemed to wince in the moment. Once they lost the lead and had to rely on pass to get it back the momentum had well and truly shifted. They will be better for it, congratulations to Detroit for getting this far. Arguments could be made we weren't the best team on the night but I think we still deserved to win. Not thinking about the SB just yet happy to enjoy being NFC champs for the moment. Any picks for who's going to win would be extremely premature at this stage but the Chiefs have done it and know what is expected. For the time being, go Niners!

Still coming to terms with it. You knew the day was coming but never wanted it to. Timing is interesting but I do believe him when he says he's running out of energy. Last year was very hard, the COVID season was horrible but even to have the drought breaking title winning season ripped through by COVID would have taken it out of everyone. I think he'll manage again, not for at least a year but he will be back. Whether it's German national team, PSG, Real, Socceroos, he'll be back.

Forward Line & Backup Ruck Issues Going into 2024 and beyond ...
Surprise surprise, we don't have a backup ruckman. What did you really expect? What's next? Not enough key forward depth?

If there is even 1ml of rain the Lions will win. 😜 Our defense has not been firing on all cylanders lately either. Can't get enough pressure on the QB and to be the broken record, Ferrell's absence is sorely missed when defending the outside run. Chase Young can't do it and Detroit are very effective when running the football. It also doesn't get mentioned enough how average our secondary can be at times. After Ward the dropoff at corner is cliff like, Lenoire is great physically but a hothead and Thomas is a walking PI to the point where at 3rd and long you just piff it up in his direction. The holes are there to be exploited and the Lions could easily make a match of this.

The story is amazing and there is a part of me that wishes I was in everyone elses shoes pulling hard for Detroit. At least if we lose it will be to a good story and not a hated rival, whether I feel this way on the day if it happens is another story.

Farewell James Harmes
Let's not forget the kick to Dean Kent at Optus which Kent then goaled from to seal our first finals appearance in 12 years. IMO just as good as the Grand Final effort.

Training Ground?
I'd like to see the government get their money back.

Ben Brown - third forward & back-up ruck
Moves like this aren't gonna win us a premiership. We'd be shuffling deck chairs.

Wide right, the most dreaded words in Bills history. That was probably the best chance Buffalo will ever have beating Kansas in the playoffs. Allen was a bit wayward and as much as he makes good plays with his feet I do think he puts himself in harm's way quite often. Was also very fortunate on that fumble they recovered. Ravens and Chiefs AFC Chamlionshop game should be interesting. On the NFC side Dan Campbell does it again. So much credit goes to the Detroit Lions. They go on to meet the Niners in the conference title game and I've got no doubt anyone that isn't a Niners fan will be pulling for Detroit. It's a shame because I would be too. Should be a great game too and hopefully it doesn't rain.

A great game for the public, for the fans involved maybe not so much with heart rates going up like odometers. Still, another classic encounter in Packers-49ers post season history. Green Bay came to play, the weather was something they are used to and they hit the ground running with yards on the ground. All week I was banging on about defending runs outside the tackles and how losing Clelin Ferrell was going to hurt and this was evident with Jones early. I thought LeFleur outcoached Shanahan in this game. Kyle went pass heavy early in the rain and I'm sure CMC had touched the ball maybe twice in the first quarter and a half. These weird calls happen so often with Kyle and I never understand it. Purdy can not seem to throw at all in the wet. He made two brilliant throws when it counted but I counted at least 8 throws that were no-where near the receiver. The Packers didn't commit any PI penalties but it sure is easy to do that when the ball is not even in the post code you're in. I will say Green Bay brought excellent pressure on Purdy all game. Rashan Gary and co have had a great season. It was just a very tough game and the Niners kept shooting themselves in the foot with penalties and big kick off returns when it looked like they could have been turning the tide. Ambrey Thomas had a nightmare and LaFleur picked up on this as he targeted him consistently. Late in the game we started to get pressure on Love and eventually got the turnover we needed. It was just enough in the end. A win is a win but the confidence took a little dip after that. Deebo could be in trouble with that shoulder and there are others playing banged up. Fingers are crossed that there are no more rainy games. Purdy will have the wet weather choker tag until he can work well in those conditions. For the Packers they definitely should hold their head up high. Balled out all game and very nearly took it out. I thought Jordan Love started quite well but unfortunately made those mistakes later on. I really enjoy watching this guy play. He moves well on his feet and evades pressure, makes all kinds of throws (That one to Jaylen Reed in the flat before the half was incredible). I've said it before but I'm a fan of Jordan Love and I would probably prefer him to Purdy. His all round arm ability is just better, he'll learn heaps from this game and the Packers have a Franchise QB once again by the look of it. Green Bay also have a swag of young talent there, can see them going one better next year with some good additions and a healthy AJ Dillon.
