  1. I wonder if you can remember the game Bruce played 3 seasons ago, on the Queens Birthday game against Collingwood. He fixed up Tarrant and also ran forward to kick some very telling goals. Of course, the Red and Blue bodies he had around him then were a different class to what we have now
  2. That is precisely why he might be trade bait
  3. Agreed 100% However, I get the feeling he might be trade bait at the end of the year. I hope not, but he may well be.
  4. When did I say he was our "PREMIER" player?
  5. Fair enough Jimmy. I will also be watching.....with interest. But for the record, I will say it again. I agree, CB is not theman to lead this club, but he will be a far better member of the team when we get some hard bodies and class back into the 22. As a matter of interest, given our "outs" at the moment and indifferent form generally, who would you like to see lead the boys out for the remaining 5 rounds? SERIOUSLY.
  6. Jimmy, I don't question your particular commitment to the MFC, but I do question the wisdom of bagging the players. It is not just on this thread that that occurs. I am confident we have a football department that will manage the list appropriately over time. I reckon in 2 years time, we won't be having this debate, as we will start to see the results we are all waiting for. In the meantime, I will keep cheering them. Yes, even Cameron Bruce. Cheers Jimmy
  7. No need for pity. My fellow supporters have been with me since '64. I agree, Bruce is not the man to lead, but our stocks are low right now. Bruce will be a better player when we get some hard nuts back on the park, but right now, we have very little to choose from.
  8. I know it has been an horrific year, but I gotta say, taking frustrations out - as justified as they maybe - on the playing group is pretty disappointing in my view. So ya reckon these guys don't bleed inside and out for what they are going through. Brucey has given me many a magic moment over time. Rather than getting on their backs, get behind them and support the boys through bad as well as the good times. Otherwise, pull the bloody boots on yourself and just see how you go in the field of battle, in the premier competition. Maybe it is just me, but I see a real spirit developing among this group, despite the year we have had. In his interview on Saturday, Connolly was right. When the media collectively bagged Barassi for his 5 year plan, they forgot what happened from '87 on. To me this group can do the same thing and it won't take 5 years. Stick with the boys and support them. Bagging is the easiest thing to do. Supporting constuctively is another thing altogether
  9. Thanks for posting that. In this context it is even more infuriating. Is is the bloody umpire who should be spending a few weeks on the sidelines, not Dunn. Boomer set Dunn up, fair enough in the context of the game, but to complain about it in the media is just not on. Low teams always seem to get the raw deals. Maybe becuase the umpires think they have nothing to lose. But in this case, it is an absolute disgrace. 2 things I noticed after the second report, the "maggot" kept telling him to walk away, while he was being manhandled by Kangaroos players and when Bailey took him off, a Kangas player raised the elbow. The league should look at the imbecile umpire.
  10. We are Melbourne. We invented the bloody game. What we need - and I think Jimmy will do it - is a better draw from the AFL next year (I never went to Church that often on a Sunday). Don't forget, it was only a few years ago, we were the 3rd largest drawing team at the G. More acknowledgment and assistance from the MCC and while I know there is plenty of passion on this forum, we need more fire in the belly from those whose hearts really do beat true.
  11. A great idea. What about other draws during the season, like for a free ticket to club best and fairest night, or mechandising packs. Proudly sponsored by ?????. A great marketing tool and potentially more exposure for corporate sponsors.
  12. As long as MFC listed players are getting a kick is all I worry about. Especially the kids.
  13. I think the first thing we need to look at is a better deal at the 'G. Some Saturday games would be nice. Might even lodge a land rights claim in the Federal Court, as we were the "original owners". Seriously, out of the options provided, I would welcome one at Kardinia Park, and until the new GC team is place, why not one up there to continue to promote AFL until the new team comes into being. Especially since North dropped the ball on this one
  14. And has a current and regular spot on ABC 774 on the afternoon program during the week. A smart man. Very smart, with a great business network
  15. With a good Kangaroo steak on the camp fire and a bottle of red. Nothing better.
  16. I think Chopper is pretty even handed with his player reviews and calls it as he sees it. He does n ot always give glowing reports and needs to balance honesty with the need to not blow a young guy's confidence. I think his reviews are generally pretty realistic.
  17. I went to the snow once and that was a long time ago. I thought it was a very expensive way to get wet and cold. ........And I don't own a Range Rover.
  18. See, I saw no "attack" there. Perhaps a different view of the facts, but no attack. I was once on a MFC marketing sub-committee. I made the suggestion that we needed "ambassadors" and a recently retired Jimmy Stynes would be a perfect candidate. A person who was then a Board Member (and who shall reamin nameless on this forum of course) scoffed at me and said words to the affect, we may as well bring back Garry Lyon and Todd Viney as well. I made the point to this certain Board Member, that in the case of Jim Stynes, even opposition clubs and supporters love him and he would be a great "face" and marketing asset to the MFC, in terms of attracting sponsors and supporters alike. In my view, in the long term, that still holds true today, now that Jimma is Chairman. We will make it through this.........there is no doubt in my mind. Let the plebs out there scoff as much as they like. They can turn up their stereotypes to their hearts content. But we know the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Passion is in the eye of the beholder. Let's not have a go at fellow supporters. Just becuase one person's vision differs from another does not mean they're any less passionate about the MFC. Let's have a debate by all means, but don't belittle fellow supporters. We are in this together and if we all realise that, we will get through this tough period. Go you Demons!!!!!!
  20. I don't see how High Tower doesn't have faith. As I read it, he is simply expressing a preference for a replacement CEO and frankly I agree with him. Schwab had a go, didn't work, got the sack, he is not the man. High Tower, your heart beats true.
  21. Given the expectations Freo had at the beggining of this year, I lay London to a brick their membership will suffer a commensurate decline in 2009. Sure, we need a person with business acumen and footy smartz together, but not someone with "baggage" which Schwab certainly has.
  22. Freo has already replaced Schwab. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...8-19742,00.html
  23. Agreed. How quickly we forget the skeletons in this guy's cupboard. The word was he was too close to the players and did not spend enough time on the strategic business planning side of things. From what I have heard, Fox is the man and Brian Cook gives him huge raps.
  24. Ah!!!!!!!! see I was being careful there, co's I am not sure. The better of the 2???? Apparently there was talk that whichever one wants out, was going to be used as trade bait by WC, plus draft picks, to get Fev. However, given the breeding of the Selwoods, if the there ended up being no "Fev" deal, I reckon it would be still worth a sniff.
