  1. HT gets my vote. He also can spell, gets to the point, has a sense of humour and does not (usually) put people down. By the way, the comment in HT's signature re YM's observations is spot on. Sorry YM, but clearly you have kangarooed the wallaby on this one. Cheers
  2. Word is that the other issue, re any possible return to the MFC is that he and Geeper have had a falling out. I certainly hope not, but that is the word. Other issues are, what happens to Chopper Lovell and Brett Lovett now? Regards
  3. The few times we have been able to sing it over the last 2 years, I have always put the hand on the heart and belted out the "Wadda we sing" part and love it. However, as a side issue and a bit of trivia, which is the only AFL club song not to mention the name of the team in the lyrics? Of course, the answer is self evident, but nevertheless, it has always made me wonder. Having said that, the name of the club is mentioned in the second verse, which of course, no-one ever sings. In fact, I would be interested to know how many actually know the words to the second verse. Don't get me wrong, I love our song, but in cultural terms, I wonder why we don't get to sing about who we actually are. Cheers
  4. Ben Holland's career stats. 1205 Kicks, 861 handballs, 743 Marks, 69 bounced off head He invented the last stat.
  5. After year like we have had, the highlights of Wiz and Woewy brought a tear to the eye it did
  6. So we're doomed then!!!!!!!!???? Jimmy just does not have the smartz and is a Machiavellian despot. Give me a break.
  7. Geez, I thought it was Murray Weideman.
  8. Ahh!!! Blind Faith---- a great band "Come down off your throne and leave your body alone. Somebody must change. You are the reason I've been waiting so long. Somebody holds the key." I think the CV's of some of the current Board Members lend weight to that (blind) faith.
  9. Build a bridge and get over it. Jimmy's in the chair and doing just fine. In fact, I suggest a bit of lateral thinking on the issue of a new CEO. Our major focus, right now, off the field is debt reduction. Maybe a relatively short term appointment, with the prime objective of securing our financial position, may lead to a longer term appointment of a CEO with business acument and footy smartz, when the foundations of secure business model are in place, therefore making it more attractive to a longer term candidate. Perhaps then a short term contract to someone from left field might be the way to go and I reckon some of the new Board members might just know who could fit the bill. Watch this space.
  10. Farewell games are fair enough, but why commence the process at moron park. These are only junk time games anyway and I would think it reasonable to say goodbye to Ooz and Whitey back in Melbourne next week. As RR said in a previous post, no club is going to factor in a White in their trading plans, on the back of 2 junk time games. They will know now if they want him or not. If Maric does have other commitments, then fair enough, but the kids should be given priority at the selection table now. What about Dutchy?
  11. You know, Dennis Denuto, played by Tiriel Mora. "It's just the vibe you Honour"
  12. So let's issue the writs. Nay, better still let the Irish brigand be hanged, drawn and quartered. Keel haul the man!!!!!!!!!!!! This is all moot. Let's just get on with it eh!!! Go Dees
  13. Warren Dean could have been anything, except for injury. Thought Mouse was great. But over the last 20 years, and accepting the others named were sensational. My presonal favourite was Andrew Obst. Not overly gifted, but always had a crack. P.S. wished we had not let K Dyson go either.
  14. Choko, Understand your intitiative is "unofficial" but it would cost the club nothing to support it, even in an "unofficial" capacity. Supporters who are willing to do such things should be recognised, even in a small way. The potential benefits for the club far outweigh any negatives. Good luck with it anyway mate. Cheers
  15. It's all about "the vibe" - and these gatherings would be great for the club I believe.
  16. Choko, Great idea. I hope the club backs you. I would love to be there, but will be in South Africa on business, but I'm sure your offer will be taken up. Obviously your accessible to those supporters from the inner east like me and the South/South East. Do you do a good Parma and pot?
  17. Bucks for me. I have to agree, Chopper has been very disappointing this year. Will he be there next year?
  18. I have known a number of "followers" of the Dees for years and no matter how hard I try, I just can't get them to become paid up members. A couple did late in June out of a sense of guilt, given our parlous financial state, but there remain many who still remain unsigned. In the late 80's, Swooper Northey relied on the "us against them" philosophy and while it carried us a long way, it was never going to deliver the ultimate prize, as I suspect the same philosophy won't do the same for North this year, as gutsy as they have been. But what that period did give us was some much needed passion back at the footy club. The club needs to reflect that passion again and over a sustained period, to get the fence sitters firmly entrenched within the club. I think Jimmy and his team might just do that over the next 12 months. "Proud in the jumper, proud in the Club"
  19. I reckon it would be a great idea for the club to organise a venue, close to the 'G, where supporters could meet for lunch, before heading to the game. A sense of being part of the supporter base would do much for the lack of a strong culture spoken about on another topic. I am sure it would not take much to form an "alliance" with a good pub, not far from the ground
  20. You're right Chook, but I intend to remain as positive as I can be. We are all guilty of having short memories from time to time, but all also know that the dim dark past can quickly become just that.......... a distant memory.
  21. They say bigger guys take longer to mature. Over the last few weeks, it is clear to me that PJ will be in the elite big man class during next. He can run, kick and he has some real grunt about him. With all the doom and gloom around lately, I really think we will turn the corner next year and providing PJ can stay fit, we will build solid foundations for a resurgence in the next 2 to 3 years. I reckon PJ will be very much a part of that.
  22. Anybody hear/see Cale's interview after the W.C. match. Not only has the kid got skill (just needs bulking up) he speaks and conducts himself very well. I reckon almost certainly a future captain.
