Really rate him, however when he was put up front he had the accuracy of Ben 'Dutchy' Holland...

You've got some serious double standards poita. This is what you wrote about Cale Morton: "I have supreme confidence that Cale will be a very good AFL player in time. The question is whether this club has any confidence in itself to iron out his remaining kinks, or whether someone else will get all the benefits. If Cale gets a smooth, injury free pre-season" Im sorry but you cant tell me that a #19 draft pick who broke their leg, came back into the side, and clearly shows drive and improvement is worse than a #4 draft pick who has more experience yet never improved, impressively soft and showed the drive of Travis Jonstone combined with the skills of Richard Tambling is the weakest player to wear the jumper and should be delisted over Morton. This madness has to have a line somewhere

To be honest I CBF getting involved with you. You asked some questions, I answered some. I never said your wrong, questioned your loyalty or that you should be quiet. Similar to that I'm not going to raise elements of your arguement such as your hypothetical scenario as a rebuttle to a logical solution, your view that AGMs are a joke - worrying that just attending (which I assume you haven't, similar to you not even calling the club) would have answered most of your questions and saved face from trolling on threads but almost not as worrying as your grammatical errors... Or that you just successfully buzz killed the muppets Again I'm not going to say anything - keep trolling on!

Fair point about Polis' previous companies. For me the dramatic and amazing downfall is enough for me to assume it was an unforseeable and rare (you would hope so) event!
-
Whoops sorry, was trolling without looking! I understand due dilligance, but I think it's unreasonable for this to have been extended to Polis' Facebook. I think enough due dilligance was done from both victory, the rebels and the dees. No one could have foreseen this and no organisation would look kindly to your more invasive due dilligance

It's called an AGM you muppet. Ps, you know that the board has changed since '08, you can simply email, letter or call the MFC and you'll be put through to someone who can answer those questions in detail, and finanally you know your not fooling anyone by liking your own comments...

The failure of the sponsorship has come from EW's side, in an unforseeable way - that's where I've got my crap happens.
-
Another keyboard warrior Then explain why victory and the rebels - 2 independent clubs from 2 different codes also signed. At the end of the day again crap happens. If you have some crystal ball no one else knows about then please make it known. Until then I don't think its acceptable to think clubs and management should have foreseen this...

I think everyone understands the full reality of our situation... But FFS this is the only thread which is trying to be optimistic and I don't think posts like this belong here. Sure I'm expecting someone to say something like I'm delusional or I'm sticking my head in the sand but seriously I'm sick of logging on with the world is coming to an end, or I'm going to burn my membership in every thread We all watched the game, we all watched the past week but let's just keep the pessimistic comments to a minimum here please
-
All you negative nellies complely missed the point. I'd much rather watch the WCE game then have to sit next to you guys for dinner...
-
I'm sorry but this is way over the top. We didn't get "sucked into anything" - crap happens, it's not the boards responsibility to govern sponsors nor be expected to have foreseen this. I'm sure appropriate procedures were taken when signing EW as a sponsor, and I'm sure as they have said appropriate contingencies have been drafted for this situation.

Clark - 6 Jones - 5 Jamar - 4 Magner - 3 Bate - 2 Frawley - 1 Green minus 100

We have a passionate board members and coaches, the club will never give up, it didn't give up in the 07/08 situation or hawks merger threat. What will kill the club are fickle supporters. Here is some advice: 1) don't read any churnalism articles about the dees (especially involving sheedy, Mathews or Thomas) 2) keep calm and carry on ... 3) also see your doctor if you have high blood pressure
-
At half time we had more tackles the WCE... But we werent placing them at the hips, more chest which resulted at head height - another unfortunate skills issue
-
I cannot disagree any more.... From watching both rounds its apparent what we are lacking is basic teamwork and skills. Kicks should have been sent to the chest but were too high, handballs were weak, desperate and sent often over to worse situations, and all the rare kicks to our forwards were either planted on top or to the wrong side. Also the lazyness was unbelievable. No one was leading, supporting or even tagging. The worst thing we could do ATM is more individual and non skill orientated work such as weights. We need more cardio, skills training and FFS almost a lock in. Send the players off somewhere as a team and work on skills, cardio, and teamwork.

Apparently according to 9 news Davey has been dropped for this round... In no relation to the Mifsud/Thomas incident - unfortunately just played like rubbish last week

Some how I've got a feeling it's the latter...

I think your being a little melodramatic and over the top... Half those reasons, ie Jims passing are out of our controll and I don't see how that could have make you feel disgusted. In my mind rock bottom was when we were in $5,000,000 in debt, had to get a whole new board, pre kaspersky/hancook, no good draft picks, one of the oldest average player teams in the afl, the wooden spoon, the lowest membership numbers, and when the afl offered no assistance and were more than happy to see the oldest club go. That was rock bottom. I don't think you need to get your knickers in a twist, over churnalism (not journalism) on trivial matters such as blazers, watts and clark. If your going to get sensitive over bs articles that are written to fill up pages then you need to get a reality check. I'm not even going to bother with your arguement about energy watch...
-
Your right on the money re fjs opportunities Gives us a chance to open up old sponsor negotiations and potentially get a more stable sponsor! Also shows the AFL, clubs and codes a level of integrity and a line in the sand - racist and slanderous shouldn't be tollerated
-
I like your optimism and hope your right... but ive always rated WCE and the fact that they are playing at home really doesnt help
-
Finally someone isnt talking smack Im surprised it took this long for someone to even mention this, and more suprised no one hasnt even mentioned the lengths we have some since the old board... got to love the fickle mind of the linch mobs! Most important thing to do is to get some wins

Any one know where I can watch the Round 1 game again (I think I must be the only person who will ask this) - I forgot to record it... and I was at the game The reason is that I think Manger's first 2 kicks were goals (because of the free) MEANING that if this is correct he is the 20th player with 2 kicks/2 goals when debuing in AFL Hows that for optimism! Any help would be greatly appreciated, would love to get his name in the record books
-
Magner, Watts, Martin, Clark Magner and Watts have been covered Martin did well considering his double tag Clark - still kicked 2 when our forwards and the pockets were choked for life Interesting that all 3 first gamers have been on one of the lists posted!

Okay....where does the improvement come from?
PJ_12345 replied to jumbo returns's topic in Melbourne Demons
Forwards are fine - Cant wait to see Clark used to his full potential Backs - need better communication Midfield - as everyone else has said clearances and need to be alot more physical Also I'd much rather Bate be starting and Morton as a sub... Bates much more physical and has a better penetrating kick -
I think people are being a bit melodramatic i think we played great - april fools A couple of positives to look at: 1) Magner - amazing. Talk about a player. When pressure and agressiveness dropped he really picked up. Also i dont think i need to harp on but his story alone is pretty amazing, Im really looking forward to him this season 2) The Jacks - looking at them from the 1st to 2nd quater they looked alot more confident, playing well, and putting their bodies on the line alot more 3) Tyne and Clark - good first games, especially clarke with that bs umpiring managed to reproduce a great snap and much needed goal under pressure 4) Martin - although he was pretty much tagged 2 on 1 since the 1st quater he still played well and used his body better than last season The bad parts...: 1) Frawley - needs to be alot more aware of other dees when going into marks. A couple of times i noticed we had a player in front who was handling the ball and close to marking only to have Chip fly in from behind with no hope and knock the dees player out of contest and onto the ground with a turnaround. 2) Communication: ^^^ also generally pretty pathetic - we put alot more pressure on ourselves with no leading or talking and why the hell was Nathan Jones left to ruck a boundary throw in at one point?!?!?!? 3) Clearances - already been covered 4) Basic ball handling and tagging skills - too many sitters dropped, too many opposition players free 5) Umpiring - ive never resported to ever EVER putting umpiring as a factor but they need to lift their game too. 4 bounce recalls (on a fine ground), the whole Clarke double take goal, 2 bs lions 'marks', a couple of holding the ball cases gone unnoticed and it was all fairly one sided. All around just crap footy. Lets hope we can fix this before next round against West Coast :S
