  1. i reckon he should be managed and rested from the vfl this week. a freshening up would do him good at his age
  2. and that's the problem with many of caro's "expose" type articles it's mostly impossible to separate facts from the opinions, falsehoods and innuendos
  3. meant to say wouldn't additionally i doubt that the proposal had been discussed in any detail with him. was probably just a road side sound bite from him and the first he had heard of it
  4. i would take guy's (or any politician) comments definitively at this early stage, od
  5. he said we had more chance of winning a premiership win a premiership this year or next and it's a monty then
  6. the yarra park proposal is not going to help us win a flag in the short term......that i agree if it goes ahead it would probably take 5 years (?) from now to complete
  7. why can't we walk and chew gum at the same time, od? if we want to be an ongoing successful club we have to focus on the short term, the medium term and the long term (simultaneously) and in all aspects of the club simple really.....
  8. you'll like the social club, od. they propose to call it "blazers"
  9. we'd need to get support from the wurundjeri people. we could call the training ground "marngrook oval"
  10. on second thoughts, maybe he's not hiding it. roids can do that to you ?
  11. add a couple of free gas barbecues and picnic tables would add to local residents amenity. could even add a kids playground. none of this is big money but would enhance the area
  12. might facebook be an idea? less work and well advertised? site needs to be clearly non partisan i.e. all club fans
  13. quite. seems not a problem even on the sacred st. kilda (boulevard) rd
  14. but club admin, mfc shop and social club are not at aami additionally aami is bursting at the seams so as we increase the size of the football dept and facilities there is nowhere to grow additionally at aami we are just a lowly tenant (and not the only one) and have no say in any aami future development aami is not a long term option (nor mid term)
  15. what would be useful would be an independent web site that put up videos of contentious decisions and invited discussion on them there are just too many bad or missed decisions that don't get adequately discussed (unless someone like clarko, eddie, terrible twins whinges) publicly and the afl are just happy to let them slip through the cracks the media are also very remiss (know which side their bread is buttered) in discussing/assessing umpiring in a comprehensive way despite the fact that it is one of the fans major interest focuses/frustrations. they should be able to openly assess it weekly without it becoming a witch hunt the spotlight needs to be put on the rules and umpiring, the fans are getting increasingly disillusioned at the inability of the afl to apply (or even define) the rules of the game both fairly and in a manner that fans and players alike can understand
  16. probably just south australian bananas......no idea of banana management
  17. i have to say cameron's actions were reckless and dangerous but i don't think he intentionally elbowed andrews lockett's elbow however was intentional and blatant and he was fully balanced with other options ergo, cameron to get less than lockett on this basis (not that they will take a precedent from this era anyways)
  18. and i still can't see what is wrong with a third man up anyway, plus what is wrong with a deliberate forced point within 5-10 metres of the goal line. and then there is the 15m penalty being exchanged for a 50m penalty with nothing in between and we now find minor infringements with no impact on play being rewarded by 50m penalties which sometimes end up as 75m because umpires have no way of accurately determining 50m. then there is ruck infringements, i no longer have any idea what is legal or illegal in ruck contests, they just seem to pluck them out of the air........i could go on but what's the point
  19. collingwood getting all the accolades in the media for defeating easybeats carlton by the huge sum of 20 pts.....wtf follow the $$$$s
  20. umpiring is so amateurish and behind the times this is why we need professional umpires with a degree of independence from afl/coaches interference and it's not just professional umpires it's a whole professional umpire support organisation that is responsible for the education, training, grading and evaluation of professional umpires a professional umpiring organisation would have at least similar numbers of a typical afl club organisation if they were serious
  21. add brayshaw's 4q mark to that. it was held much longer than wingard's on the melk one, why didn't one of the other 3 umpires have the guts to overide the dh one?
