Some things are going to change over the next 6 to 12 months. 1. The coach. A sub committee will chase Malthouse and some quality assistants to take us to the next level. 2. The board will find a football person, possibly Connolly. 3. The players will get a game plan. 4. Stynes can't keep this level of work up so his intervention can only be short term. His own health has to be his priority. Thank God for Jimmy. 5. Scully will resign and one of the reasons will be the revamped FD.

Yes we are on the right track, absolutely. A few Observations...a lthough nothing new I thought I'd list my thoughts. 1. Tanking doesn't necessarily pay off. is Dustin martin the best of the lot? 2. The Darling decision was a bad one 3. Grimes and Gysberts were great pieces of recruiting. 4. We really need Blease to make it. 5. Strauss and Maric appear our worst picks....albeit at the moment....they are both young 6. Bailey has done everything expected of him. 7. The board is undoubtedly looking to replace him and our assistants at years end. Malthouse would be magnificent. Personally I can't see a position under Buckley that would excite him. Time to get the cheque book out. 8. Grimes needs to move into the midfield. 9. Davey needs to work a hell of a lot harder. Look at Daisy Thomas, similar size, similar role, similar skill set, very different output. 10. We need at least one of Watts, Scully, or Trengove to become elite.

Can't agree with that. We have a better and more even spread of talent than Richmond. Beyond Martin (maybe tanking wasn't such a good idea!!) Deledio, Riewoldt, Cotchin and Foley there's a bunch of battlers. If our list is worse than Richmond's then we can forget a Premiership.

Bad Taste to the extreme. We condemn futile deaths (which by the way the USA have caused more than any other sovereign nation) then we celebrate the death of another human being. The world is a sick place at the moment. Interesting that the 'War on terror' has worsened the threat of militant Islam and made the Christians more righteous and blood thirsty than ever before. The images from times Square reflect a sad time in Human History. Those who rejoice in the death of another need to look closely at their own self. The words of Martin Luther King ring true.

You would have to expect that Melbourne would be sounding out the likes of Malthouse and Roos as well as a host of able, experienced, Premiership assistants. If we're not, we're asleep at the wheel. Bailey may well turn things around by years end but if Malthouse could be lured who would you choose? It's a no brainer, It's Bailey's last year unless we can't find the money.

And now for the good news......
-
Did your brother's best friend tell you that?
-
Then let's go after 2 of his assistants and a couple of assistants from Hawthorn and Geelong and build a Premiership FD. By the way if someone offered you 750000 to do what you love would you take it over someone paying you 900000 to work under the snivvling Buckley? i know what I'd prefer to do.
-
Ok. By the way my energy output on Connolly wouldn't open a door. Don't you find it a tad odd that the head of the FD doesn't discuss gameplan with the coach?

We can't as yet say that our last few years recruiting has been poor. However it appears it could have been better. Maric and Strauss appear mistakes at this point. Blease was a real tragedy who could still make it although it appears less and less likely by the day. Both Grimes and Gysberts were excellent recruiting moves (at this stage). Although Darling was a miss Cook appears to have plenty of upside. All of Watts, Scully and Trengove appear to be future top players, with Scully the best chance to become elite(in my mind) Can anyone really say our recruiting has been as poor as Thursday's game was. The next big recruit needs to be a coach and a FD to go with him.

Final Selections: OUT Morton, Dunn IN: Bate(S), Petterd

I was at that game. Wow we have been bad. The scary thing is sooner or later we're going to meet a really switched on club and get belted for 4 quarters. it'll make thurs seem like a picnic. There's a 100 point belting heading our way, make no mistake about that. Next week we;ll see the likes of Sylvia, Davey, Green and Moloney bluster around for a quarter or 2 before it all gets too hard and they'll leave it to the likes of Trengove, Grimes, Garland and Gysberts to fly a flag. heavens to betsy if we unfurl that flag next week I'm going yell some obscenities.

The new coach would snare another good draft pick........perfect......but!

A role in the marketing department sure. How is it that The Head of football operations has nothing to do with the gameplan? Besides, my point is that we need to make ours the best FD in the business. To me that means getting people who have been at the forefront of Premiership success in the last 6 - 8 years. Connolly hasn't been near a Premiership so in my book his position is up for grabs. Success starts at the top and I want the club to get a Premiership winning Head of Football to oversee everything that goes on in the FD. Geelong, Hawthorn and Collingwood are the most recent winners. Get the cheque book out and line up the best, it's clearly the only way we are going to win what we need to win.
-
We need to be active in the trade period if any talent is available.
-
By the way Connolly and the assistant coaches need to go as well.
-
I don't think anyonyexpects us to be winning every game however every game the following aren't negotiable. Running hard, covering your man, attacking the ball and the contest and following set structures and plans. What must the likes of Trengove, Frawley and Grimes think when a coach instructs them to play a style of game that's outdated without any training to combat the opposition effectively. Teams with poor coaches lose players. We can't let this happen. Schwab and co. need to line up a new coach by Round 16 and then let Bailey know he won't be required next year. Let the new coach take the last 8 rounds, help with the draft and trade period and get us ready for 2012.

The Hun again ! DB and Jones analysis of ???
Roost It replied to Demon Stalwart's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not for so many reasons the main one being, he's not that good. -
In: Petterd, Cook, Jetta, Maric Out: Morton, Dunn, Wonaeamirri, Bennell
-
0.5 Davey happy now?
-
If Bailey goes so should Connolly.
-
What, you don't like the pink and white!
-
Can we redo the draft and take Shaun McKernan and Jack Darling? Add Jurrah, Watts and Wonaeamiri and we'd be a different side.
-
Morton needs a coach who doesn't accept hit performance. he has oodles of talent, a huge motor, good skills and reads the play well. Just needs a coach who does the same.
-
We're in a spot of bother if we can't lure a big name coach to the club.
