  1. Not a sling, it looks like simple momentum carrying them both forward, and the swan hit his head.
  2. After this year, I was thinking 17 rounds (all play each other once) and then the remains rounds can be matching teams for the finals run home to get rid of the "dead" rudder games. It's been proven this year that a floating fixture can work. Plus the qtr's for need to be longer. Notice they have snuck in a "night" GF this year too.
  3. Might be time to let that one go... Been far more stuff ups then you can focus on.
  4. From the headline I thought they may have again mailed out in advance information for finals tickets for 2020, like in 2017.
  5. Isn't he being groomed to take over from Clarkson?
  6. All over the ground Freo had a clear system and positioning to receive the ball and clear to a player wide. We don't. They have been taught that in one preseason from a new coach. Freo far better than us, though we played pretty dumb footy for a rainy night. Int he wet, hold position and kick it long and then repeat until you have it in a threatening position. Its like our players are a week behind in making a decision on how to play. What is worrying was the 3/4 comment from Goodwin, they defend hard then be brave moving ti forward. We didn't, there was no dash, not bravery, just kick up the line. It wasn't until it was too late they turned up the pressure, like against the swans last week and go the same result. The player in the west was Salem, good clean hands all night even with a "soapy" ball. Oliver was one of the worst, needed to go put a glove on. Trac, tried to be everywhere and help and that hurt his game, he needed to sit 30 to 70 out from goal and control that space, esp one out. At least i didn't put money on them to win, like some people at work
  7. Because he's not the coach anymore but still getting paid
  8. Got home late and just watch the game. Gee, what a woeful effort for most of the game, whereas the swans pressure were great and know where to stand to pitch our little hand balls etc, plus their riving knowledge so far better than ours around packs. They tried to win it late, but couldn't kick straight. But in the end goals win matches and we may have pinched it, but for woeful kicking from multiple players whose job is to kick it between two non-moving sticks. But couldn.t Switched it off with Langdon's kick-in straight to the swans player. Omac should not play again in the backline (and most likely no where else), his inability to execute a kick or contest (used to be able to) should be the end of him. Lastly bad luck for Jone's to end his career like that (I assume he was injured or simply left on the bench as he can't keep up)
  9. hmm thats a point
  10. I assume tall finals will be in QLD or SA, due to quarantine rules here in WA. 14 days no exceptions. You only have a week off from the last game.
  11. Just like reading a demonland postgame thread after a loss.... just change the names
  12. Frustrating game. From TV I can't tell how bad the wind affected the game and skills in kicking to a target. But except for the dog's burst we looked the overall better side. Others have mentioned the missed shots on goals, touched etc, if we have gaoled on at least 1/2 of those it would have been a different game, due to scoreboard pressure on the dogs. What is hugely disappointing again is the ability to stop a run on. Eagles at their peak in the 90's etc, would rarely had a more than 2 goals in a row kicked on them. They had a simple team rule, 2 goals, you lock everyone down including in the mid. Regain control and reset. We have no plan, no active decision to wrest back control built into the team. Yes the modern way of thinking is stick to the team system (Evident in top teams across the world) and not change. However, in our system we need to have one to respond to such situations on field by our leaders. Make a move to unsettle the opposition break their run. But we don't I would have loved to see a player say harmes for example, move himself into the middle to lock down Bont, take responsibility. He must hav been standing back there watching it happen and being frustrated waiting for a change. If it doesn't work, try something else. Be bloody proactive. The 3rd quality run on didn't stop as our players weren't working hard enough. Nothing more nothing less. The ability is there the mindset is missing. If Goody can't fix that so players play to the best of their ability and effort for 100% of their time on the field. He should go.
  13. paying. down debt is good even at low interest rates. Simply if we have no debt all revenue becomes ours. We can then redirect some of our revenue to build assets for the long term in whatever form is best for the club. But its good to see we are in a positive position.
  14. Yes that could also be a reason. But a club with good support could manage that. Plus he'd be away from his buddies!
  15. For a cheap price I'd have him back.. It seems he had far better support and network while at Melbourne and he played better (less injury). Lots of players struggle when they go to Freo and I think there is something wrong with their internal culture and it seems to not help players.
  16. Supercoach is shocking this year. How bloody hard is it to find the leagues your in... Not that fantasy team interface is any better. Problem with lots of interfaces is they start of great but "features" get added to. "improve' our experience. Simple is best. Nice clean designs.
  17. depends where it is played, some may be lucky.
  18. You can only play the opposition that is in front of you and we played them well. Now we need consistency for the rest of the year to that standard against all sides. We played great controlling footy on our terms for most of the match and the results showed. Preuss was so much better than the last time I saw him play, he's been studying the game and learning. He's not third in line, but 2nd behind max and tonight showed us that. Jackson is years away from being a no 1 ruck if ever.
  19. His intent and desire is there you can't question that, did some good things. But his body need to be reconditioned. Needs a good preseason to get it right again. Will fill in as best he can based on injuries.
  20. His comments are based on our history and how we need to change to become consistent. No problem with what he says as he wants us to succeed so he is harder on us than others, yes he thinks like a supporter and shows his frustration.
  21. GWS have not developed as a team, too many talented players trying to do their own thing to win.
  22. They have a tough run home.
  23. Hmm you have too much time on your hands
  24. yeah i counted them on the reply, again a case of umpires not knowing how to judge a distance.
  25. Some really good signs in the game. Including control the tempo of the ball movement, looks so much better, albeit against a weak side. What is good to see is pushing on a beating sides by big margins and not letting them back in. In the past we would have let in late goals. Not so anymore.
