Tom McDonald - are his days as a defender over?
Go the Biff replied to Nasher's topic in Melbourne Demons
TMac's already a much better shot for goal than big Ray ever was. Goodwin mentioned in his press conference that McDonald would be staying forward in the immediate future while Tom himself said post match that he was enjoying playing there. Followed by the obligatory "I'll play where the team needs me". Also said he was learning and working on aspects of forward play -
It's likely Clarrie was suggesting yer man had been spending too much time at his favourite eatery.....or something similar

Agree with those who bothered to read it before commenting. Good, balanced responses from Malthouse to the questions posed. And yes, thanks for Jeffy

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCHELL WHITE
Go the Biff replied to The Red Fox's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would. I think he's a fair bit better than he showed the other night -
Harsh IMHO. Four weeks was about right. Not unexpected though Houli started the bus, Fahour stepped on the accelerator and Bugg, by virtue of his own stupidity managed to throw himself under it.

Wayne Carey said on Talking Footy that there were excuses for us on Friday night, citing the four games in 18 days, travel from Perth and injuries. Just when I think someone gets it, in the next breath he goes "no excuses for them next week though". Not sure how an 8 day break is going to help when around 7 of our 10 keys players are out but that's the level of analysis you get in the footy media.

Interesting perspective from the public figurehead of the Coward Punch Campaign Danny Green - SEN "Former boxing world champion Danny Green says there is "not much" in Melbourne defender Tom Bugg's punch that knocked out Sydney youngster Callum Mills on Friday night." Not sure how he stacks up next to Malcolm Turnbull or Waleed Aly as a character witness Dermie throws in his two penneth worth further down the linked page

I'd expect it would vary according to variables such as days between games, when recovery sessions are scheduled, injuries etc We don't know what this "drinking session" consisted of but I doubt they were just sharing a slab over a BBQ.
-
Not disputing that
-
I'm another that recalls Ling was good when he first started but yeah, annoying now. There are too many special commentators, too many comments and if anything, not enough commentary Just call the game. Leave the other stuff for the breaks

I agree Bugg is a fool I'm not changing history. I don't need to. ! was there watching it mate. I'm sick to death of the 70's & 80's being made out to be worse than they were, Clowns making out footy to be a weekly bloodbath. If that cap fits....... "Rod Grinter did that every week" That was your statement. I still call bullshite.

Bullshite God you make up some tripe at times

Top post. Saved me some typing We've played our best footy in June, a month in which no-one has won a flag., It may be getting towards August before we start to get anywhere near our best team back on the park. But that gives us time to get rolling again towards the back end of the season It's still a fun ride people

"Yeah so you should with all your draft picks"
Go the Biff replied to Stevienic23's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mate, half the punters on this very board don't get this. Not sure how we can expect supporters of other clubs to. Nor the lazy clowns masquerading as media I'm also in the "enjoy the ride" brigade. Is there a bus ? -
Fantastic video. Been reading some opposition fan sites & great to see that Nate is so respected across a broad range of fans

How much do you want for 'em ?

If any club offered what Buckenara suggested "If the Demons were offered a good deal would they look at it? My answer is yes. If a club offered a first-round pick and a second-round or a player as well, you’d consider that for sure, especially if the deal could help Melbourne secure a player they desperately needed" then of course you'd look at it - but what club would offer anything like that for a player with Gus's unresolved concussion history It would be a shite act to trade Gus anyway - unless he came to the club asking for a fresh start Of Buckenara's trade targets for us are based on "The area of need is more outside runners who are quick, break the lines and are good ball users, particularly off halfback.".............. "In order of priority I would have Kelly, Johannisen, Pittard, Whitfield, Z. Jones, Smith in the hope of luring one to the club." Kelly would be amazing but getting him may involve selling the farm, Zac Jones would be a good fit but Johannisen & Pittard, while both great runners, butcher the pill. I doubt we need what Devon Smith brings (I consider him more a HFF than an outside mid) and Whitfield recently declared he wanted to stay at GWS for the duration of his career - which is a bummer as I'd love him at Melbourne. I reckon we'll be backing Gus in

A few old blokes in the eastern suburbs might get a bit of a hurry up Return of The Wiz

I hold some similar thoughts to yours. Thought Spencer looked really, really rusty last week. I also believe that nonetheless, against any other opposition he'd have been playing. 'Dogs are nearly as light on as we are for ruck strength. Roughead plays more like a Pedersen role than a dominant ruck role despite his height, Good player but rarely dominates. T Boyd has played 2 decent games in his career. I suspect as others do that Goodwin is taking the run & gun approach to this game. I expect Spencer to play in Perth next week, whether Gawn is fit to resume or not. I also expect him to get a contract with us next year, much to the chagrin of the OP who I suspect is clueless - but that's inconclusive. Totally

Thanks Ash. It's a shame we were crap and never on the telly when Greg Parke was doing his stuff About 17:48 @picket fence Should warm the cockles old chap

I think you might have him confused with Ash35

Flanagan again - a football club reunion
Go the Biff replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Another great piece of writing from Flanagan. That closing sentence is a gem Sadly the Springvale story is far from unique in the VFA. The likes of Oakleigh, Prahran, Caulfield, Camberwell and Yarraville to name a few, have all been consigned to history -
OK - thanks but what I'm interested in is why you did it. Was it a breathing thing ? Did it help your concentration lining up for goal ? Or was it because you'd seen others do it ?

Further to Saturday's commentary, I have just noticed this bloke in recent weeks but we might have a decent footy caller on our hands Adam Papalia He just calls the game and does it well. No bullshirt or Bruce / Huddo like dramatics. Good voice & easy to understand Breath of fresh air this fella, hope he gets more of our games (and yes, I know I am Sandra Sully on this)
