Farewell Jesse Hogan
There's a bit of this & while I wish him well personally, professionally - not so much Hard not to feel a sense of loss though. Nothing to do with trade wins or picks received. Simply put, I just loved watching him play footy for us and think his best is yet to come. I'd have liked to have watched that

Mine's the same as yours It doesn't sit well though

Disagree. If he stays he's not the first to have a trade denied & go on to represent his club with distinction. Ryan O'Keefe is probably the poster boy for that. Denied a trade to his home state and ended up a premiership player (maybe a Norm Smith as well) with the Swans.

I wonder what the pull will be if we play finals again next year. If Hogan gets to bag a handful in front of 90,000 cheering him at the G

Farewell Jesse Hogan
The club would be planning what the list would ideally look like over the next 1 - 5 years to try to get the maximum return out of what's currently a pretty strong position Perhaps it's as simple as 1) the club had an expectation that Jesse would request a trade at the end of his current contract 2) they had been tracking May with a view to getting him at the end of his current contract (which Mahoney has confirmed) 3) they saw an opportunity to advance those changes by 12 months And perhaps you're reading too much into it old chap. WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
That was Plan B. Plan A was to have a crack at him next year. Plan C it is Does anyone know if the club applied to the AFL for permission to trade next year's first round pick ? If so, were we successful ?

Rams, Ravens, Broncos still smarting from that overrule that cost the poor old Browns a win - and me a point !

Andrew Gaff
Agreed. We should take him on a tour of Jihad Stadium and Blundstone Arena to remind him of what the alternative is. He's exactly what we need playing the inside / outside role in tandem with Brayshaw. Not exclusively as a winger

Agreed. I understand our interest in him. I can't however understand his interest in us. He's signing on to a gig at Casey- NFL
Count me in again Simple and fun comp this. As well as being a lot more challenging than it looks to pick up points. Get on board ! Steelers Titans Bengals- Bernie Vince Retires
Would have loved to see him play a final in red & blue. Hope he feels he's accomplished what he set out to achieve when he decided to join us. He & Crossy in particular have been immense when it came to turning the club around on field. So glad he got to play his 100th game for us. Thanks Bernie- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
He'll have played too many games. I believe it's under 21 years old and less than 10 games at the start of the season- Sam Weideman
- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
I can go back to the '70's. Most of the best midfielders I've seen for us are wingers. Flower, Johnson, Alves & Tingay chief among them. To use an old term the best centreman / ruck rover types (which is the category I put Oliver in for the purpose of comparison) are IMO Viney and for a couple of years Brian Wilson. Better than both of them was Greg Wells. You can argue that he hasn't gone past those three yet but we are reflecting on their careers and he's played just over 50 games. I believe that by the time he chalks up 100, the question won't need asking. He'll be a mile in front The Jedi reference is good - even as recently as the last 3 weeks he's done something in each game that's left me gobsmacked. His ball control at pace is unbelievable
