Aside from the usual suspects, Rhino Richards was exciting in that no-one knew what was going to happen when he got the footy. Including I suspect, Rhino. When he took off on those runs of his, he certainly got the crowd's collective heart rate elevated

My #1 wish is for a bye after Darwin. Secondly, no string of 6 day breaks. It was admirable how the side coped with it this year at the time but eventually it took a heavy toll

Damn, I would have liked the 'Pies first-up. Hope it's not the Crows. Then it'll become all about Lever which puts unnecessary and unfair pressure on the kid.

Mate, the whole thread has been full of boring repetition I doubt anyone's holding a gun to your head, forcing you to open "The Jack Watts thread"

He played mainly wing which is a position that we've has some good ones in. Alves, Flower and for me anyway, Tingay have him covered. His Brownlow was certainly a surprise. I thought Stephen Powell had a better year for MFC. Kouta was pretty dominant that year & I thought he'd bolt in the Brownlow. That said. Woey had a fantastic year in 2000.

Disagree with this. Other clubs with better picks to trade were into him (and allegedly more $). I think it was a fair price & the club did well to attract him to us. I'm also aware that my opinion won't change that of others so, on we go

Clarry. Then give yourself the arvo off

You sound a bit like my dear old octogenarian mum. She's been following the Dees since she was a little kid. Seen more games of footy than many on here have had hot feeds. Rusted on MFC member for god knows how many years. Saw the glory years of the '50's & '60's. Suffered through 26 years of no finals. She's seen the succession of rebuilds over the past decade. Seen hope raised & dashed time & time again. She has seen a lot of players leave the club too. Many of them better players than Watts. Some of them were particular favourites like Greg Wells and Stan Alves Right now she reckons she is the most upset she's been since Barassi left for Carlton. Even more upset than she was when locked out of her attempts to vote No to the merger.

In this case I reckon "explore your options" = "hit the road Jack & don't you come back" Bloke has 2 years left on a good contract. Apparently loves the place, loves his team mates. You don't think his preferred option is to stay at MFC ? It's pretty obvious that that particular "option" has been made so unpalatable that he's had to seek others Further to this, his manager Connors has a track record and a public preference for keeping players at their clubs. If he is telling Watts he is best to look elsewhere then remaining at MFC is not a realistic option
-
Do you really think he is running away ? I get the feeling he is being very strongly pushed
-
So are you suggesting the club are not being truthful ?

Mahoney has stated this has nothing to do with salary cap

presuming of course that the problem is in that room

I'm not convinced he does although he'd know what he's been told. Agree with the rest though. Nicely put.

All is not lost Red. You can do that with the Watts pick -
Agree with this. Nothing pre-Roos is relevant, For Watts or anyone else. Joint was a schemozzle

Not sure what the fuss is about. When the numbers are crunched, as some have done in this thread., we have procured a very good player for a fair price. Lever is a 10 year investment. He fills an immediate need now and will only develop and get better given his age. I also anticipate that his inclusion will make the likes of Pig and OMac better players as well It's all good !
