Just postulating, how would we get it done, if we wanted to say keep next year's first pick, as we haven't got this year's ?

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here

Iva, how reliable and accurate do you believe your snout is? -
Doing what their Insurers probably told them to do, stall and deny.

Quite funny. Barrett says we should clear Jesse if we get 2 picks under 8. He then says about Carlton, they need a key forward, but they are very hard to find. But we should clear ours, who may end up one of the best. The Eagles say they want Jesse, but won't clear Darling, as key forwards are so hard to find. But we should clear ours to them. Some people just don't think, before they speak or write. -
I reckon the Lions would pay part of his salary too. They don't want him as Captain and he will probably coast if he stays there. They know it.

But given it's going to a club with better results than us and who actively campaigned against us getting a PP, it is warranted. Maybe we offer them Dunn, Garland and Dawes and our last pick for Rocky and we agree to say nothing to the AFL on PP's. BTW whinging is an enjoyable pastime to many. Seriously though, nothing the AFL does surprises me anymore.

VFL GRAND FINAL - CASEY SCORPIONS v FOOTSCRAY BULLDOGS
Redleg replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ok Doctor Picket Fence, if that is your medical opinion after examining him. -
Frawley was band 1 because of the contract he was offered and his age etc The Cats got less for Ablett because they were higher on the ladder. That was the rule. Buddy was pick 19 because they had just won the flag.
-
They don't have to and won't.

We got what was prescribed by the rules at the time. We were a crap club near the bottom and that was the prescribed compensation. Trust me, I would rather have got 18 for Frawley and been happy with our flag.

Granted it didn't look good. -
While it's not the PP per se that I object to, it's as you said, the absolute hypocrisy of the parties involved. The Lions argued the most strongly against us getting one and the AFL denied one several times, even though we more than qualified under the existing criteria. The Lions won 3 flags and came second at their fourth GF in a row only 12 years ago. They were in the finals only a few years ago. Everyone knows our history and especially the years before Roos came. It just can't be compared to the Lions. They used every excuse not to give us one, we had injured players, we had good youngsters coming through, we had a nice jumper. The Lions except for the jumper are the same. Add Beams and a few others back in and the development of the youngsters and a new Coach and they have a future. I would accept the PP to the Lions if the AFL explained HONESTLY why we were denied and apparently they will benefit. However the AFL is anything but honest.

Chance of a flag for some Demon players this weekend. Hope they are not affected by Etihad.

He was apparently pretty good in the rooms and then went straight home to rest. The Doctors obviously think it is not a risk, or he would be out. -
Looks ok.
-
But they still have Eddie, ready to attack anyone, who mentions the Pies, in the slightest unflattering way.

Not sure about that. The Wiz always regretted leaving us and has said it often. He said the best thing he did, was to get away to Melbourne.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here

Well it would have a fair way to go to challenge the No T$ thread, 717 more pages and 18000 more posts in fact. -
Dunn, Garland and Dawes and the deal is done.
-
Funny you attack your site name.
-
I'd rather draft a kid who might end up having a career with us, than a final year veteran.
-
Tomlinson is staying.
-
Can we offer Dawes, HL and Kennedy? He is behind, Adams, Crisp, Sidebottom, Pendles, probably Aish and others and then Wells is rumoured to be coming. I wonder if we could get something from the Lions for Dunn and Garland, which we could in some way upgrade to do a deal, or use a pick from next year to upgrade somehow. He would complete our inside mids and I think he has a bit of pace. Not the best kick if I recall.

No need for disappointment, as apparently that is exactly what we have done. We are also not commenting out of respect and trying to keep the media sensationalism contained. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Redleg replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Probably because we could get them. Actually they add some experience, hardness and better delivery to the forward line, ( hear that Jesse ) than some of the players we have. Also, it probably allows us to move players like Hunt and Salem to the wings.
