They want his salary out of their cap, so that won't happen.

Well Hibberd either returned to the Bombers, or named a new club, so not really a leak. As for the improved pick swapping, that got us Oliver's pick, I recall that Demonland was in raptures knowing nothing about it, before it happened. It was a shock to most and wasn't leaked. Bugg and Kennedy were not the sort of names that would have the other clubs running around. I think we have tightened up the leaking dramatically.
-
Could that be because we don't leak anymore?
-
Don't disagree, but I lead a boring life and these rumours give me some temporary interest and enjoyment. Until this year, when we started to play some decent footy at times, my favourite part of the footy year, was trade week and draft days.
-
Apparently Logue was great in the 3k and Beep and very good overall and has climbed in his ranking. Can't see him getting to any pick that we will hold, unless we clear a top player, as we lose our current 2nd round to Bombers.

This year, unless I am wrong, Michie, Newton, ANB, Bugg, Wagner all got games. None of them are in Rockliff's class. To be honest, I am not convinced that Vince isn't on the way down and you have him in your starting midfield. I see Petracca more as a burst forward and occasional mid, as opposed to a starting mid, so no issue. He is best 22 anyway. We always have injuries and Rockliff is simply best 22 at Melbourne, every day of the week. If that deal that was rumoured is true, fantastic.
-
He is best 22 at Melbourne, end of story, don't have to worry who he tips out of the midfield. Would you have him in the side before Bugg, enough said?
-
AFL site tipping he is now a round 1 pick.
-
You wouldn't think so, but leaving his club, losing his captaincy, a fresh start, with guys like Goody and McCartney and we might back ourselves in to get the best out of him.
-
Oh yes we would, but obviously not $800k. A guy who racks up 40 possies in games and plenty of clearances is worth more than $400k. Jesse wouldn't be upset to see him in red and blue..
-
IF TRUE, it would have a lot to do with Rockliff's contract. The rumour was that he is on $800k a year with I think 2 years left. Mitchell will stay or go, at about $500k a year. So who would want to pay Rockliff $800k? Probably no one. But, if we got Lions to pay a bit and we paid the rest, with some upfront, as we probably have some room this year with Melksham bonus etc, you could work out a deal. I think the Lions are absolutely desperate to get rid of Rockliff and not many clubs can afford him and are worried by his baggage. Anyway good to read positive rumours, even if they don't come through.
-
It could be BS, who knows, but Rockliff has baggage and a huge salary and maybe some clubs are just not interested. He does seem gone from the Lions though and if it can be done early in trade week, it would really allow them to get out there and do deals. i love the rumours in trade week, even though most come to nothing. Come back chilliboy and tell us how every star in the AFL is coming to us.

If Giants can get hold of pick 2 from Lions, for an early pick and a player, or another pick, I can see the Bombers getting a Giants player cheaply, when the real payment is not picking McGrath, who the Giants are apparently desperate to get. It could also be a swap of 1 for 2 and a player or extra pick. We will see. Just a feeling.

Great rumour if true BBB. I thought the Lions had gone off Dunn because of Frost and what they said the other day. However, if you watched Peter Schwab the other day, he couldn't hide his disdain for Rockliff, so it could be true. Hope it is, as he would complete our inside mids and is a goalkicker as well. It seems a deal slanted our way, but maybe something to do with his high salary is in the mix. He clearly needs to get away from that club, hopefully to us.

With our improved list, group of youngsters, who need games and development, loss of first round pick and new found professionalism, in not leaking like a sieve, it is hardly surprising that our name doesn't come up, against every single player mentioned as leaving his club, as happens with some other clubs. Our philosophy is hopefully, if a player doesn't look good enough to make our 22, or at least in the ruck/forward role be able to provide good depth, then avoid them and draft our own. That said we may still be targetting someone, but without using next year's first pick, given we don't have much to trade, this may not be the year, unless we are targetting a very good player who would be worthy of our first pick in 2017. Mitchell could fit that bill, but IMO the Swans would be mad to let him go. My prediction then is a fairly subdued trade week, where we get Hibberd early and then maybe a Barlow type, who could make our 22, but obtained fairly cheaply.

Very windy in Melbourne today. No fart jokes please.

And Maxxy the new comedy star.
-
What you are suggesting that other clubs are making Judd type payments outside the salary cap. That would be naughty.
-
And $10m.
-
Don't know why the hate for him.
-
Barlow apparently no longer in Sun's sights. He might be a cheap pick up, to add experience to our midfield. Obviously not a high priority, but he can play.

No need to cook those flying pigs, they are already turning to bacon.
