Are we plotting a late heist?
I note the Hawks have traded in 3 former number 1 draft picks in the last 3 years, all of whom have allegedly been injured and all have come extremely cheaply.

Are we plotting a late heist?
What about this from left field. Offer Swans 8 for Papley and Tom McCartin. That gets Daniher done. 5 & 8. We then do 3 to GWS and get 6 and someone like Caldwell. GWS get Green and whoever they want at 3 . We fix small forward problem with Papley, key forward problem with McCartin and add pace/skill with Caldwell plus another good player with 6. Well I can dream can't I?

It definitely won't be for 6 and 25. I could see us offering GWS 3 for 6 and a player and maybe even the Tomlinson compo pick or that pick 6 and another first round pick. In other words why would we give away 3 for a first and second when we paid a first, a second and a third for 8. IMO we just tell GWS we are nominating Green at 3 if we still have it.

We get 8 by giving away 26, 50 and next year's first and you think we should give up 3 for 6 and 25? That isn't happening.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
It probably means we know that GWS are going to take the player we want with 3, if they get it. That player would therefore be worth more to us than 2 players a bit later on. Its the reverse of the Kelly deal and I hope if we do that we get it right.

Josh Bruce
It doesn't matter whether it's Bruce , Jenkins or whoever and personally I think you have no chnce of getting a bloke once he nominates another club, but we need someone. We have 2 key forwards and one is still developing and the other has had injuries. Petty is a fair way off and may be needed in the back line. I agree we have mid sized forwards in Tracc, Fritter, Melksham and maybe Hannan, but we are clearly light on for key forwards and it needs to be addressed now. If Tom and Weid are injured we are horribly exposed. Even a stopgap player for a couple of seasons would be fine, giving us time to develop, or find, another longer term solution. As others have said Hogan, has not been replaced and IMO it is a major worry if not fixed.

Agree.

Whatever we do IMO, we need another experienced key forward as we are really light on there. Whether its Bruce, Jenkins, Howard, who is not really an experienced forward, but can play both ends, or someone else, I hope we are addressing this issue now.

What's going on at Port
We have 2 close mates from SA. I wonder if they could be offered together to go home to Port, for Howard, who at 199 cms could help cover the loss of Frost and also the shortage of key forwards.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
If we are swapping picks and not players, this can be done later on, up to draft night.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
Who are you hearing it from?

Josh Bruce
Well if we aren't looking at Josh Bruce and Yoko is wrong, then Jenkins at a bargain basement pick and salary, should be the option for the next couple of years, while we find another key forward. If Tom and Weid are injured again, like last year, we really have no one, other than maybe an inexperienced Petty as a key forward.

That is surprising.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
We are now light on for Key Backs, Key forwards and Small forwards. Petty is available to help out either key back or key forward. I think we will take a small forward or two in the draft. Therefore, if we can trade in another key forward and Yoko has suggested we are currently looking at one, then our problems will be greatly reduced. List balance is very difficult, as getting the categories accurate, is a near impossibility, with the unknown factors like injuries/retirements etc. For example, you have a couple of good ruckmen and then they both get injured. You can't just have stacks of ruckmen on your list, to cover for that, without impacting other areas. It is an extremely difficult task to have a perfectly balanced list, as unforeseen events can throw your perfection out the window.

Or that so many good players, missed so many games and therefore votes, that the B & F in some respects, IS meaningless this year.

Why are the Saints so attractive?
They only have one thing attractive to players $. PS but like North they havenโt got anyone atm.

Why are the Saints so attractive?
I donโt find the Saints attractive.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
It canโt be left too late if a player is involved, as you need time to convince them and work out terms.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Those 2 won't be moving, they are the futures of their clubs.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Gunston, McKay, Curnow, Brown and Ratugolea are IMO no chance at all. Tremblay is refusing to leave WA where he is a G-D. Bruce appears to have committed to the Dogs, though could be a chance late if a deal can't be done. Membrey won't go if Bruce is gone. That leaves Schache on your list, who we could have had a couple of years ago. McKay's twin brother at North could be a chance, but he isn't setting the world on fire and has played mainly in defence. I think our key forward if we have one in sight, is not on this list.

Dogs are now into him for 2021 and some believe he and his brother would be better served, playing at different clubs. GC List Manager says they have some confidence he will sign an extended contract with them, at some stage next year.
