Who? Bruce played at the end of this year, so what is the part completed knee recovery?

Tomlinson has 2 years at $500k and Bruce has 1 year. So we save the last year of Tomlinson at $500k for use in 24. We tried to get rid of Tomlinson with no takers. We now have in his last year by swapping him with Bruce. If Bruce plays the whole year at Casey, we are $500k better off in 2024.

But if we only take him for his last year, we save $500k on Tomlinson in 24. If we are looking at bringing in a good player that will help. In the meantime he is cover for 2 injured forwards and experience and big body to help a raw kid. For one year it is smart.

So hopefully we are just taking him on his last year and then assess at end of 23. I have no issue with that for one year, as we save a year on Tomlinson and get an experienced key forward for cover. Hopefully all working to a plan, to dump salary for next year's swoop on a player.

Maybe it's now going to be 13, F 1st and North F 2nd and we give them the Bedford pick 43. That's unders for LJ, but that North F 2nd always has trade appeal on draft night. However that would leave us with only one pick inside 54, once Pies get 27, unless I am missing something. Unless as GWS have #3, #12, #15, #18, #19, #44, #61, #63. and will trade Hopper for Soldo and lets say Tiger's 31 pick and GWS who then won't need 31, can give us picks they probably won't use in 31 and 43 for Bedford. That at least would give us 2 x F1 and 2 x F2 for next year's draft. That would be good for next year.

Well I suppose the danger is Freo could get 11 for Lobb and give back North F 2nd and Dogs could do that, as only about a 7-8 pick drop and use it next year in a strong draft. We then lose chance at North F2nd.

We are not worried about the PSD, we are just discussing why the deal will go through eventually. I now think we will get North F2 as well as 13 and Freo F1 and have to accept it.

Correct and we know he won’t want to come back and play at North, so it’s a free go at picks by them, in a trade the next year. He would be furious with Freo, as would his manager and other players and managers would be very concerned about committing to Freo.

Why not? At worst they are getting future picks. It’s a smart play. If he puts a ridiculous figure on his head, North complain about draft tampering and the AFL would bend over for them, given their situation, with a new North rule. It would be a way to give them picks, but not as priority picks. He goes on their list and if he stays in WA, they simply trade him the next year. If they don’t, he is an Eagle.

If the picks we swapped were worth pick 14, I wonder why we didn’t just give them to Pies to use in other deals.
