  1. Took him 5 years. You might be happy to wait that long to finish 9th; not me.
  2. Trade could go something like this: 1. Warnock (Freo) --> Carltank 2. pick 6 (Carltank) --> Filth 3. Didack (Filth) --> Adelaide 4. Griffen (Adelaide) --> Freo
  3. And your point is??
  4. If that doesn't at least interest a young player, then Carltank, or anyone else, are welcome to him. IMO, Judd and $'s were the decision makers. (unless of course, he hates his brother!)
  5. Heavens, I hope it wasn't us. Forget the debate here about picks. What's important is where Warnock wants to go. If it's not us, then Freo can trade for him. If it is us, then it looks like we will have to be nice, because Warnock has said he wants Freo 'looked after'. 3rd round pick? Nothing better IMO. He has to state his preferred club - bet Freo hope its Carltank
  6. Watts has said he will go to school in Melbourne. If a Perth team drafts him, he will not even get to Perth, let alone play or train. So, 2009 is a total waste for a WA club. So, a Melbourne club would seem to be the go --> MFC. Tho' I'm not convinced about Watts as a player. AND, why enter the draft, if you're not available? In my view, he should enter next year's draft.
  7. RR. Try taking the aggression out of your posts (on this and other topics). You do yourself a disservice. Doesn't make for 'pleasant' reading.
  8. Harvey instead of Williams? Couldn't do any worse. Ox? NO. O'Donnell? Didn't rate him as a player. Not sure
  9. Why bother with a (year) review?? Waste of time.
  10. Unless he agrees to retire, I don't think he can be paid out AND replaced on the list. He is contracted until Oct 09; paying him early doesn't remove him from the list. If he can't be traded, then I suggest he is offered a position in Casey 2's for 2009 (or work out a retirement package). ED: From the CBA between AFL & AFLPA 14.9 No Player shall be delisted from the List of an AFL Club from the period immediately following the Pre-Season Draft until the day immediately after the next trading period without the consent of the AFL General Manager – Football Operations.
  11. I agree, to a point. But I'm sure they will still try. I would think so, but payment would still come under TPP. Maybe he is still on the list too, unless he retires.
  12. I'll stop my head shaking now  but wonder about terms of Bruce and Robbo's contracts.
  13. He's under contract for 2009. And it depends on the terms of the contract. They'll probably try and trade him 1st.
  14. I am absolutely staggered if combined they were getting >$1M. Good god. Who's responsible? Cameron? Daniher? Who's been footy manager over the past few years? So what's Bruce getting?????? (We have all assumed around $400K to $450K) May be $600K, $700K? Good heavens. No wonder Green wants more. Thank heavens Gardner (and McNamee - the jBrown man) are gone. Head shaking ... Head shaking ... Head shaking ... Head shaking ... Head shaking ... Head shaking ... Head shaking ...
  15. Then what's with the 2 alternatives we've been voting on at melbournefc.com.au?
  16. Yep. Agree
  17. So, where's the massive upside? I agree. But, so did/was Simon Godfrey ? I hope he does. But at the rate he's going, he will soon be the size of a small hippo, and about as effective.

    Brad Green

You make a good point here. Club still has to find the $'s tho'.
  19. Great No he wasn't. The only hard tag he got was against Freo - he got 3 touches, we won. However, each week, he was pitted against the opposition's best mid-fielder/s. Yes, and he is getting heavier/bigger (and slower?). This year he couldn't break tackles, or find space. This year he lacked speed and acceleration, and thus the ability to get to contests. 2009 he must find a way to correct this. Stay out of the gym, lose weight and work on acceleration. Or ......................

Posters on this topic are missing 1 basic fact: GREEN IS OUT OF CONTRACT. THUS HE CAN GO INTO THE PSD. If he works the deal right ($'s, terms, etc) he can probably go wherever he wants in the PSD. Trading may not even be a possibility. Green for Warnock anyone?
  21. I doubt the 180cm, 81kg bit. (He looks a lot heavier than that to me. Whelan is listed as 180cm, 84kg.) First, let me say, I love the way he plays, courageous, hard at it, never stops trying etc. And this year, he became the number 1 mid-fielder after McLean's injury, so he copped the major attention/best opposition. But, he has basically one speed, and poor acceleration and is (thus?) unable to break tackles. His possessions are only at stoppages; he rarely gets to other contests to crumb/gather as good mid-fielders should. And his disposal is not good. He just doesn't have an impact on the game. 2009 will be a very important year for him. He must find some real acceleration that allows him to break a tackle (lose weight?). And he must improve his kicking. These 2 a minimum. He was dropped towards the end of the season; on return to the team, I saw no improvement/change in his impact or form. Years gone by, he would have made a great 'back pocket'; sadly those days are gone.

Green just might be a fit for the Eagles - I don't think they are anywhere near as bad as us. And Daniher is there now. And they would get him for nothing in PSD.

    COREY JONES

Better watch your Joneses BB. I presume you mean Nathan in the last paragraph. FWIW, I wouldn't touch Corey Jones with a barge pole; has had a dog of a year. Over paid, over rated. Sound familiar?
  24. Why do you believe?
  25. Based on what? Hope?
