  1. He turned down AFL to concentrate on his business.
  2. Or you've got trampoline legs. That added height is what makes the 'taller' forwards more effective against the likes of Dale Morris etc. If you put together that 6cm of height plus maybe another 6 in arm length plus a possible advantage in vertical leap, then factor in the forward being in front of the defender which adds probably 5-6cm for the size of the torso and it makes it REALLY difficult to spoil someone if they're taking the ball as far away from their body as they can
  3. I'd be more surprised if it WASN'T a random attack. You definitely see a lot of high profile people get targeted for random abuse by drunken yobbos
  4. I had him going top 10 at the start of the year. If that appeases anyone's nerves
  5. Every time I see that 03 draft it gets worse and worse
  6. Sometimes (Angwin, Cupido case) it's hard to judge accurately how a player will turn out as a person. Both those players had more talent on one finger than half the guys that get drafted so taking them would have been seen as a calculated risk by the club. Teams had the same concerns about Lance Franklin and he's turned out ok. On another note: at least Gysberts and Blease can car pool to training
  7. How about we just say the higher the draft pick the more likely they are to be "good" regardless of position? Common sense really
  8. Not much taller (186 vs 188) but definitely a similar mould. Doesn't do anything exceptionally well - just does everyone at a more than acceptable level and is extremely versatile
  9. 18 months? Try 3 years. Played juniors with Sam Blease a bit, and at Ranges was always rated a better AFL prospect. For a while (particularly last year) was rated a top 10 certainty for this draft but from what I've read his disposal didn't improve as much as everyone would have hoped so he's dropped a bit (not much though obviously). Could be compared to Chris Heffernan/Justin Blumfield circa 2000-2001
  10. Luke Ablett and Henry Playfair delisted but Paul Roos hasn't ruled out re-drafting them
  11. 193cm(?) He's a bit on the light side (round the 85kg mark i *think*) As Ralph-Max said he just doesn't seem to be up to AFL standard but good luck to him. Later in the season for the Scorps he played as a midfielder on the odd occasion so maybe this is what the Dockers have taken an interest in rather than his KPP potential
  12. Because he was a better footballer than Valenti would be my guess
  13. Rollo - just make sure you call for a head count at the start of the game against the Pies! Saints played em and they started with 22 on the field, and at one stage had 26 or something ridiculous like that
  14. How many premierships have you won again? Pretty sure Zomer, whom I used on the other side of my argument, wouldn't get a kick playing for Geelong
  15. Zomer moved pretty well too. It's nothing against him because I haven't seen him up close but I'm always apprehensive about guys that come into AFL from the TAC cup with a "man's" body
  16. Not super skills for someone 200cm tall? imo of the current players on Carlton's list he'll be the best within 5 years
  17. would his build now hinder his scope for improvement? ie is he like Zomer in that at U18 he gets away with being big without actually being any good or is he like Hawkins, J. Brown etc that they're able to transfer their ability to AFL
  18. Yet Godfrey was able to play a 100(?) games in a reasonably successful period for the club and Valenti gets delisted from the team that has finished last for 2 years running
  19. Gibson is 189cm from memory. Carroll is significantly stronger than both too. And if Clarko's Cluster can make a revival he'll get a stack of support ala Zac Dawson
  20. Apparently this kid is ridiculously good (as in, up to AFL now good). Still a risky move imo, as someone mentioned he could suffer career hampering injuries between now and then
  21. The way the Hawks play Carroll could definitely do alright at FB playing on anyone too big for Gilham, Gibson or Murphy. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they did pick him up but I'd still say it's unlikely
  22. It probably varies considerably between dates depending on peoples availability but most would have had some football experience and the odd one who's just come down for a kick
