I have a confession to make. I rostered myself off for today but i didnt bother going to the game. (From Shepparton). My poor daughter was saying to me all the time we were watching the game on TV, "gee it would be good to be down there watching dad"................ I squibbed it after our last 2 games, especially after we lost to Norf for the 27 billionth time. Gave us very little chance, and as i told the family, i didnt wanna get us all ejected from the 'G for abusing our team while we find a way to miss finals again. Yeah, im soft. Even left home during the 3rd QTR to drive to Dan Murphys to get a 1.125 of Jonnie Red to drown my sorrows. Just cant trust the team to finish off like it should. Yeah, im soft. We were gone during the 3rd....... GONE. Somehow we answered and answered well. The Saint had as much on the line as we did and it was US who toughed it out in the last QTR. So to all those who wanna look at the negatives, just remember that we are a BIG shot at playing in September now. Despite people like me who gave us no chance. Hard to be upset about this. You simply cant carry players who wont put their body on the line in a contest. Statement had to be made now. Regular season games are not nearly as physical as finals, and we needed to do something urgently. Hopefully the entire team gets this message, and goes in hard starting this weekend. A few stuck tackles wouldnt hurt our cause either. How he plays in the magoos will say a lot about his headspace and whether it means enough to him, or if footy is just a paid hobby. We will miss his kicking, but the physical stuff he just wasnt being serious about. Bring it Jack.

He has never been a huge possession getter, but i love this kid for his attack on the ball, and the fact he has 2 sides. Have not seen him play for ages so i can only hope he still has both of those skills. Play or not, im happy that he is at the very least close to a return.

Yeah i get the point you are trying to make Skuit, and i dont doubt you are a passionate Dees supporter, but it just smacks of excuse-making. We have not played a SINGLE game more than any other team this year... and other sides have laid and taken more tackles/bumps and are further up the ladder than we are. Im just sick to [censored] death of needing to grasp at straws for excuses. We need to reach finals this year. Reason and excuses look the same otherwise.

This is actually a chance to once and for all stop supporters saying "Here we go again". Make finals from here and we gain the respect of the footy world as well as from many wavering supporters. There would also be the undeniable side effect of forcing good players to at least consider us as a viable destination. Fail to make it (especially if we capitulate like we did in the final 2 games last year) and it will reinforce the general football-world view that we are a nothing club represented by a nothing team. Over to the players.
